10 best se acoustic guitars

Acoustic guitars are a popular category of musical instruments, known for their versatile sound and portability. They are commonly used in various genres of music, including folk, country, blues, and pop. Here are some key aspects related to se acoustic guitars:

  1. Brand:

    • SE (Paul Reed Smith SE) is a line of guitars produced by Paul Reed Smith (PRS), a reputable guitar manufacturer. PRS SE guitars are often considered a more affordable alternative to their higher-end models, providing quality craftsmanship at a more accessible price point.
  2. Construction:

    • Acoustic guitars, including SE models, typically have a hollow body that produces sound through the vibration of the strings and resonance of the guitar body. The body is constructed using different tonewoods, such as spruce, mahogany, rosewood, and others, each contributing to the guitar's unique tone.
  3. Body Shape:

    • Acoustic guitars come in various body shapes, such as dreadnought, concert, auditorium, and jumbo. Each shape has distinct tonal characteristics and ergonomic features. The choice of body shape can affect the projection, volume, and overall feel of the guitar.
  4. Tonewoods:

    • The choice of tonewoods significantly influences the sound of an acoustic guitar. For example, spruce is known for its bright and articulate tone, while mahogany tends to produce a warmer and more midrange-focused sound. The combination of different tonewoods in the top, back, and sides contributes to the guitar's overall tonal profile.
  5. Electronics (Optional):

    • Some SE acoustic guitars come equipped with electronics, allowing players to amplify their sound. This is particularly useful for live performances and recording. The electronics may include pickups and preamp systems, providing control over volume, tone, and sometimes additional features like built-in tuners.
  6. Neck and Fingerboard:

    • The neck of an acoustic guitar, including SE models, is usually made of mahogany or maple. The fingerboard, where the player presses down on the strings, is commonly made of rosewood or ebony. The choice of neck and fingerboard materials can influence the playability and feel of the guitar.
  7. Playability:

    • SE acoustic guitars are designed with an emphasis on playability, catering to both beginners and experienced players. Factors such as neck shape, fretboard radius, and action contribute to the overall playability and comfort of the instrument.
  8. Finish and Aesthetics:

    • SE guitars often feature high-quality finishes and attention to detail. The aesthetic aspects, including the finish, inlays, and bindings, contribute to the overall visual appeal of the instrument.

When choosing an SE acoustic guitar, consider your playing style, musical preferences, and budget. Trying out different models in person can help you find the one that best suits your needs and preferences.

Body Shape Options

The body shape of an acoustic affects its look, its sound, and its feel. PRS offers two acoustic body shapes: Angelus Cutaway and Tonare Grand, meaning 'Angel' and 'Thunder' respectively. These shapes provide a comfortable, familiar feel for players and are both well suited for playing with a pick or fingerstyle.

Bracing Styles

The bracing pattern of an acoustic also contributes to its voice. PRS SE Acoustics come with either traditional 'X' bracing or PRS's hybrid 'X'/Classical bracing. Traditional 'X' bracing allows the top to vibrate while providing a stability that gives these instruments their signature punch. PRS Hybrid bracing features the traditional 'X' at the soundhole with classical fan bracing across the belly. This allows the top to vibrate more freely for a rounder, more projecting tone. The back bracing on both body shapes is designed to 'lock down' the back and sides to promote the instrument's projection through the top, giving the instruments a unique tonal quality.

Back & Side Options

Acoustic back and side wood choices help determine the guitar's fundamental tone. SE acoustics feature mahogany, ovangkol, and maple back and side woods - all paired with solid Sitka spruce tops - each one offering its own flavor. When matched with the body shape and bracing style, the guitars overall voice is largely formed.

Fishman Electronics

PRS SE acoustics feature a Fishman GT1 electronics system, featuring an undersaddle pickup and soundhole mounted preamp with easy-to-access volume and tone controls. This system delivers dynamic, organic tone that allows players to go from rehearsal to the stage with ease.

Answer: China
Question: Does it come with the gig bag
Answer: The fretboard is the same as a standard guitar except for length. The width of the nut is about 1 and 3/4 inches. I really like this guitar. Good tone, great volume and the only thing missing is a couple of frets that I never use. Oh yes, it is light and small and a lot easier to carry around.

User questions & answers

Question: What is the nut width
Answer: The headstock has the PRS signature, just like the pics. On the back of the headstock it says made in China, so not made in the US. I have the A50 with the flamed back and abalone details; it's pretty nice.
