3 best stage lights with dmx controllers
Stage lights with DMX controllers are essential components of lighting systems used in various entertainment settings, including concerts, theatrical productions, nightclubs, and DJ performances. DMX (Digital Multiplex) controllers are used to control and manipulate the behavior of stage lights to create dynamic and synchronized lighting effects. Here's what you need to know about stage lights with DMX controllers:
DMX Controller Basics: DMX is a standardized protocol used in the lighting industry to control various lighting fixtures and effects. A DMX controller is a device that sends DMX signals to connected lighting fixtures, allowing precise control over their intensity, color, movement, and other parameters.
Types of Stage Lights: Stage lights come in various types, including:
- Par Cans: These are versatile, typically used for basic wash lighting.
- Moving Head Lights: These lights can pan and tilt, offering dynamic and flexible lighting effects.
- LED Lights: LED fixtures are energy-efficient and can produce a wide range of colors.
- Strobe Lights: Strobe lights create rapid, bright flashes for dramatic effects.
- Spotlights and Floodlights: These lights provide focused or broad illumination, respectively.
DMX Control: DMX controllers use a series of channels to communicate with each lighting fixture. Each channel corresponds to a specific parameter, such as color, intensity, or movement. For example, channel 1 might control the color of a light, while channel 2 controls its intensity.
Programming: DMX controllers allow users to program sequences of lighting effects. Lighting designers and operators can create intricate shows with precise timing and synchronization by programming DMX channels and values.
Daisy-Chaining: Multiple lighting fixtures can be daisy-chained together, meaning they are connected in series using DMX cables. The DMX controller sends signals down the chain to control each fixture individually.
Light Shows: Stage lights with DMX controllers are used to enhance live performances and create immersive light shows. Lighting designers can adjust the lights in real-time to match the music, mood, or scene.
DMX Software: In addition to hardware controllers, there is DMX control software available that allows for more advanced programming and control through a computer interface. This software can simplify complex lighting setups.
DMX512: DMX512 is the most common version of the DMX protocol, allowing for up to 512 channels of control. Lighting fixtures and controllers are typically labeled with the number of DMX channels they require.
Compatibility: It's crucial to ensure that the DMX controller is compatible with the type and number of lighting fixtures you intend to use. Different fixtures may require different channel assignments and addressing.
Safety: Proper handling and setup of stage lights with DMX controllers are essential for safety. This includes securely mounting fixtures, managing cables, and following electrical safety protocols.
In summary, stage lights with DMX controllers are integral to creating captivating and dynamic lighting displays in various entertainment and performance settings. These systems offer precise control over lighting fixtures, allowing for synchronized and customizable lighting effects that enhance the visual impact of live events and performances.

Question: | I'm wanting to use these lights to accent the back walls of our church. Can they do that with them all on one color |
Answer: | Yes, if they are on a DMX controller. That's what I am using them for as well. Blessings! |
Question: | Would these lights work to add mood lighting to a stage production? We're thinking about them for our school play |
Answer: | These lights have been an amazing for my events! They came right in the nick of time too! Great for ambiance! Great deal! |
Question: | Did anyone find a useful programming manual online, don't bother answering if you didn't or just returned them |
Answer: | I did not find instructions on this but this is what I know. The scenes on the board correspond to addresses on the lights and they sequence up 16 at a time scanner channel 1 on the left hand side of the board board is address 1. scanner 2 on the board is address 17, 3=31 etc. When the scanner button is turned on the faders will affect the lights with the proper address. The first fader is an overall brightness after that one fader will be for making the lights red, the next green another blue etc. One makes them flash. If you are getting nothing look to see if the blackout button has been pressed. On the lights themselves the mode button will take them through different types of operation. One mode will just make the light a color. One will make them react to sound. If you want them to be controlled by the board get to where is displays A001. If you hit enter, that is address 1. If you hit the up or down button you will get a number between 1-512. Remember the first is 1 and then you keep adding 16. If you have half of your lights set to address A001 and half of them set to A017. you will be working with 2 scanner channels. If you want all the lights to be the same at an time you operate the faders with scanner 1 and 2 turned on. If you turn off the scanner 2 light and use the faders the scanner 2 lights will stay as they are. Once you have what you like you can store the scene. I don't have my lights set up but you should be able to figure out how to store it. There is either a store button or you press an hold like programming a radio. Once you store a scene you can recall it regardless of the positions of the color faders. Once you have a few of your favorite scenes stored you can just hop between them getting an instant color change for your whole stage. |
