User questions & answers

Question: Does this bag have a metal zipper
Answer: The zipper is made of a tough, black material and it's actually not easy to tell, but it does not seem to be made of metal. Great bag of very sturdy construction though.
Question: Would 4 egg shakers fit in this bag with 2 sets of sticks
Answer: Easily. It’ll hold 4 shakers, a cowbell, 8 pairs drum sticks, 2 mallets, 2 sets of rutes, car keys and a phone with room to spare. The best part? It slings over your shoulder and attaches to the floor tom where everything is instantly visible. Hope that answers the question
Question: Does the bag come with sticks

Question: Amazon says "product dimensions: 15 x 10 x 3 inches"... is that correct? most drumsticks have

What's fun about owning the Meinl Drumstick Bag?

You've probably heard the saying, "a cluttered work space is a cluttered mind." This is ESPECIALLY true in the musician world where inspiration hits without warning and gigs call for fast changes.

When an idea springs up, the LAST THING you want to do is hunt for that one piece of gear to make it come to life.

Picture yourself on a gig when an unexpected setlist change is called for that brush ballad. You're usually prepared for anything, but when you're not organized and packed the right way, you have thoughts like this:

"I SWEAR I had brushes in my cymbal bag."

Or

"How did these wires get SO MANGLED on the trip here?"

Now you're distracted, and the song is about to start—NOT FUN.

For pros, weekend warriors or students

The great thing about the Meinl Drum Stick Bag, besides its ability to devour and organize a surprising amount of gear, is that ANY type of player can benefit from owning one. This bag is for touring drummers who thrive on organization, percussionists who own a plethora of mallets, marching drummers with large, chewed up sticks, and beginner students heading out to lessons.

Store multiple stick pairs, along with rods, mallets and brushes

We've seen drummers stuff just about everything aside from their wardrobe in the Meinl Drum Stick Bag. Five interior deep pockets accommodate mallets with extra large heads, jumbo cajon brushes with thick polymer bristles, and, of course, sticks. You can also fill the space with percussion accessories.

The fun comes when you're organized and FOCUSED because your tools are easy to find and intact.

Heavy-duty nylon

For the relentless touring drummers, thick, heavy-duty nylon is used throughout, along with reinforced cross stitching on the handles so you can add plenty of weight to the bag. A large, durable zipper ensures long-lasting use.

You shouldn't have to worry about your gear failing on you, the same goes with your carrying bags and cases.

Adjustable Shoulder Strap

This bag is equipped with an adjustable strap to sling it over your shoulder, freeing up your hands to carry a cymbal bag and drum cases into the venue.

Extra thick, rugged nylon is used for this strap to always maintain superb durability.

Floor tom hooks

We refer to them as floor tom hooks, but these handy straps can be attached to ANY drum.

The hooks allow you to reach over into the opened bag as it hangs next to you while playing. Just attach the hooks to your drum lugs and you're done.

Meinl Percussion

Based on 337 reviews Check latest price

Product description

The Meinl Jumbo Subwoofer Cajon features a forward projecting sound port in place of the traditional rear facing style and an internal reflex channel. This results in an enhanced bass note projection, particularly desirable for live and unplugged situations. Fixed internal snare wires deliver a crisp and cutting sound that enhances corner slaps and adds a touch of contrast to bass notes. The Jumbo Bass Cajon is designed to project immensely deep bass tones that swell with harder playing and provide slight punches behind soft notes, responding much like a kick drum. Frontplate: walnut (Juglans regia L.)

  • Our biggest and bassiest cajon — with a low end punch that you will feel as soon as you start playing, the Meinl Jumbo Subwoofer Cajon is mammoth in size and sound — the extra wide body with internal bass reflex allows for superb low note development
  • Forward-facing ports with internal bass reflex — an internal reflex channel directs sound waves and air out through forward-facing ports to create a bass note that feels like a perfectly tuned kick drum — the tone will completely surround you as you play
  • Internal fixed sets of snares — three sets of internal fixed snare wires are positioned against the playing surface to add the dimension of a crisp snare drum sound — get a cutting backbeat snare tone by playing near the top corners of the playing surface
  • Walnut playing surface and MDF body — the walnut playing surface is ultra-sensitive to soft finger rolls and packs a punch at a louder volume — the sturdy MDF body with thick rubber feet resonates fully, giving you maximum projection and superb tone
  • Use indoors or outside — this cajon is an outstanding percussion piece for settings like open mic nights, coffeehouse gigs, outdoor jam sessions or houses of worship — it may also be used with a microphone to fill large spaces with percussive sound
  • Manufacturer disclaimer — typographical or grammatical errors found in the bullet point or description text on this product page are a result of this site’s system and are neither the fault of the manufacturer nor marketplace sellers

All about the _______

A wild guess on what the #1 thing is you look for in a cajon:

super. deep. bass.

We're not talking about a nice thud with decent resonance. We mean the type of low end that you can feel and has the ability to rattle walls.

Think about it—if you brought that kind of power to the stage, you and everyone around you would look at the cajon in an entirely different way. Your drumset-prohibitive gigs would engage on a whole new level.

The cajon CAN be a powerhouse instrument in its own right without stepping over the decibel boundary cajons are meant for.

Using the idea of how a subwoofer boosts low end in a speaker setup, we began work on the Meinl Jumbo Bass Subwoofer Cajon.

Made for acoustic sets, small or large theatres, outdoor shows and houses of worship

Stripped-down gigs or practices are fun because they reveal the inner-workings of songs to where individual parts become crystal clear. From a drummer's standpoint, however, you usually have to sacrifice something to fit the dynamic. But what if you could maintain a solid foundation of kick drum rhythms and crisp snare to really lock-in at any volume level?

Are you looking for a solid, reliable house percussion piece that can carry a group of musicians through a set of music? The Jumbo Bass Subwoofer Cajon is great for being used by many different players in any style of music.

Bass reflex system

Inside the Jumbo Bass Subwoofer Cajon is a bass reflex system that directs sound waves and air through different channels before projecting out from the large, forward-facing sound ports. This gives the frequencies more time to develop inside the body of the cajon, resulting in ultra-low, enhanced bass waves. Think of it as a mechanical subwoofer.

Positioning sound ports on the front envelopes you in a healthy dose of low end tone while projecting your beats directly toward your audience.

For extra amplification, place a microphone by one of the front ports.

Three internal fixed sets of snares

Outfitted with snare wires that respond with a crisp and sensitive snare sound, the Jumbo Bass Subwoofer Cajon allows you to easily execute deep back beats and complex rhythms.

The snares react perfectly to soft finger rolls, ghost notes, and loud back beat slap tones when played near the top corners. They are evenly spaced to fan out against the inside of the walnut playing surface to give you a reactive snare touch wherever you strike.

Walnut playing surface

This is where ALL the sound initially develops, so we had to pick the right material and build it out correctly.

Walnut is used in drum set manufacturing for its even levels of highs, mids and lows. It also creates a wide open sound that is loaded with warmth and depth—perfect for a jumbo-sized bass cajon.

We chose walnut for the playing surface and carefully made it thin enough to respond to soft finger rolls and brush playing while ensuring it's durable enough to endure heavy back beats and fast, choppy rhythms.

User questions & answers

Question: Is the diameter of the rod roughly the same as the rod a hihat mounts on
Answer: If u put the food in the hole yes they have to paw it out. There face doesn't fit in the hole. I would put something heavy in it if your going to do that because the cat could just knock it over. You could try something like this too https://www.chewy.com/dogit-go-slow-anti-gulping-dog-bowl/dp/50563?utm_source=google-product&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=hg&utm_content=Dogit&utm_term=&gclid=CN3pibLI5dICFURffgodVNIOkQ&gclsrc=aw.ds
Question: how long is the rod that the cowbell clamps onto
Answer: It will depend on the habits of your cat. If your cat doesn't chew over the bowl then no bowl will contain the crumbs. Of my 2 'girls' only one uses this bowl- but she is the one who eats with her paws. It is actually the funniest thing to watch- but to the point she is now keeping all the kibble in the bowl and enjoys digging it out of the center. I had a cat who had extremely long whiskers and didn't like them touching the edges of small bowls while drinking and eating. His water bowl became a 3 quart food bucket- worked like a charm. He kept himself hydrated and lived to be 22.5 yrs old! It certainly didn't look great on the kitchen floor- but his needs out weighed my decorator sense. In closing - try it - you may find it solves the problem. The water bubbler these guys makes is also loved by both kitties! No more bucket of water in the kitchen- Yay!

Answer: You would need a few of these, especially with 5 cats. We had 2 and they were constantly over there trying to eat. Also, one of them figured out how to take the top off to get to the food stored inside.

Product features

Make the other musicians jealous

We've all done it, drummer or not. One of your favorite songs kicks on and you start playing the beat on your legs.

It's fun, right? We all have an instinct for rhythm.

And what more natural playing position than sitting upright and tapping your knees conveniently located right in front of you?

It's as if humans were intended to be natural percussionists.

All we did was design an instrument that makes use of nature's ergonomics to easily give you a full range of percussive sounds with an upright playing position—this is the Meinl Turbo Slaptop Cajon.

Once you're sitting down with the Slaptop Cajon in your lap, you'll first notice the smooth, elegant walnut playing surface facing you, marked by its natural wood grain. This area gives you all the sound options you'll need to support a live band.

Deep, resonant bass and crisp, cutting snare

High-pitched snare notes come from playing toward the left and right sides while lower pitched bass comes from striking in the center. It's so easy and fun that anyone around you—especially band mates—are going to want to try it out for themselves.

Made for acoustic sets, jam sessions, small or large theatres, outdoor shows and houses of worship

Stripped-down performances and rehearsals are fun because they reveal the inner-workings of songs to where individual parts become crystal clear. From a drummer's standpoint, however, you usually have to sacrifice something to fit the dynamic. But what if you could maintain a solid foundation of deep bass and crisp snare to really lock-in at any volume level?

Project toward your audience

Constructing ports on the front side instead of the traditional rear port is a design element this cajon could not go without. Having these ports on the front envelopes you, the player, in a healthy dose of rich tone while projecting your beats directly toward your audience.

Near the bottom of the resonating body is a long, rectangular bass port for low note development. On the top corners are two circular sound ports for a reactive snare touch with plenty of volume.

Dual internal fixed sets of snare wires

Outfitted with snare wires that respond with a crisp and sensitive snare effect, the Turbo Slaptop Cajon allows you to easily execute deep back beats and complex rhythms.

The snares react perfectly to soft finger rolls, ghost notes and loud back beat slap tones. These chrome plated steel wires fan out against the inside of the walnut playing surface to give you a sensitive snare sound without any extra effort.

Responsive walnut playing surface

This is where ALL the sound initially develops, so we had to pick the right material and build it out correctly.

Walnut is used in drum set manufacturing for its even levels of highs, mids and lows. It also creates a wide open sound that is loaded with warmth and depth—perfect for the Turbo Slaptop Cajon.

We chose walnut for the playing surface and carefully made it thin enough to respond to soft finger rolls and brush playing while ensuring it's durable enough to endure heavy back beats and fast, choppy rhythms.

  • Play them like sticks or rods — if you’re looking for a softer sound than sticks or multi-rods but still want the rebound, these nylon brushes deliver – these brushes allow for heavy back beats and precise rolls/drags on a cajon or drum kit
  • Ideal for acoustic sets — their softer overall sound with precise touch is made for any coffee house set or writers’ round on a cajon or small drum kit
  • Great for drum set players — these nylon brushes are a great addition to any drummer’s stick bag – the nylon adds a softer element with more emphasis on drawing out resonance on a drum kit

User questions & answers

Question: Can these brushes be used on normal drumheads and symbols
Answer: Holes are plenty large for paws to get into. I love this item. It keeps my feline from gulping his food and gives him something rewarding to do to get it.
Question: Why do they have a prop 65 warning
Answer: Your kitty should have no problem. It's more like their paws are pushing out the kibble more than claws trying to hook it. They just reach in and sweep and the food falls. Or your cat may do what one of ours does - he jumps on top and rocks it for the treats to fall!
Question: Would these create enough noise against 8 inch hit hats for small coffee house gigs
Answer: My cats aren't on the bigger side but I do have one that would knock over his other feeder so he could get fed through the day. We've had this one for a month and he cannot get it to tip over. He actually gets really frustrated that it just goes right back up.
Question: Do you retract them by just pushing them back into the handles? I was expecting more of a mechanism, like my cymbal brushes
Answer: Yes, the bowls are removable for washing and it's sturdy enough that my 2 cats can't get them out. My cats have a habit of scratching the floor mat after they are done eating and without these bowls I had to do a lot of clean up. Now after using these bowls they have stopped doing that and I have a clean feeding area.
