14 best colored violin bows

Colored violin bows are a variation of traditional violin bows that come in various colors and designs, offering a unique aesthetic twist to the classical instrument. Here are some key points about colored violin bows:

  1. Appearance: Colored violin bows are known for their visually striking appearance. They can be found in a wide range of colors, including solid colors like red, blue, green, and purple, as well as multicolored or patterned designs. Some bows may also feature decorative elements such as gemstones or metallic accents.

  2. Materials: Just like traditional violin bows, colored bows are typically crafted using high-quality materials. The bow's stick is often made of wood, such as pernambuco or carbon fiber, while the hair is traditionally horsehair. The colored or decorated aspect usually applies to the outer finish or decorative elements on the bow.

  3. Playability: Colored violin bows are designed to perform as well as their traditional counterparts. The choice of wood for the bow stick and the quality of horsehair used for the bow's hair can greatly affect the playability and sound produced.

  4. Customization: Some musicians may choose colored bows for their violins to express their individuality and personal style. Customization options are available, allowing players to select the colors and designs that best suit their preferences.

  5. Sound Quality: The color or design of the bow generally does not have a significant impact on the sound produced by the violin. The primary factors affecting sound quality are the bow's construction, weight, and balance, as well as the skill of the player.

  6. Maintenance: Colored violin bows require similar maintenance as traditional bows. This includes periodic rehairing, cleaning, and proper storage to ensure their longevity and playability.

  7. Availability: Colored violin bows can be found through various musical instrument retailers, both online and in physical stores. They are available for players of all skill levels, from beginners to professional musicians.

  8. Cost: The price of colored violin bows can vary widely depending on factors such as the quality of materials, craftsmanship, and brand. Customized or artisanal bows may be more expensive than mass-produced options.

  9. Matching with Violins: Some musicians choose colored bows to complement or match the appearance of their violins or to create a unique visual contrast.

  10. Artistic Expression: Colored violin bows can be seen as a form of artistic expression within the realm of classical music. They allow musicians to infuse their performances with personal style and creativity.

In summary, colored violin bows are a visually striking variation of traditional bows that offer musicians a way to express their individuality and style. While they come in various colors and designs, they are typically crafted with the same quality materials as traditional bows, ensuring that they maintain their playability and sound quality.

Answer: Press and hold the “unlock” button on the side of the sprayer head, then turn the face plate counterclockwise until it’s in the release position (you should feel it releasing). You may have to try it a few times to get to release, as water deposits may gum it up a bit.

User questions & answers

Question: How do I know which size to choose
Answer: I went to the local music store to buy a beginners bow, but it was $50. So, I bought this one for half that, plus shipping. It is the same quality as the one in the music store. The music store had the more expensive ones locked up. The one I had came with a $150 4/4 electric violin, my first. I really liked the one that came with it. This one is ok, but I like my old one a little better. (It is broke in.) Someday I might go look at those the music store locked up.
Question: I want to buy a 4/4 green bow. Do you think this bow is suitable for beginners
Answer: Hello, sorry for the inconvenience. In September and October, there were some problems with parcel logistics shipments from China, which caused delays. At present, the logistics time has returned to normal. Parcels shipped from US Amazon warehouses can generally be delivered within 7 days. Please purchase with confidence.
Question: Why does it take so long to ship? 3-4 months is a little excessive
Answer: I doubt it. I wanted to rehair my old bow, which also was an inexpensive bow and did research trying to find out who locally rehaired bows. I figured $20-30 for a rehair. It's not. And luthers will not rehair (according to the information I found on several websites) unless it is a very pricey bow. The way they were dodging around the answer I got the feeling that as far as rehairing goes "if you have to ask the price, you can't afford it". In the end, I bought this bow for about what I'd hoped to pay for a rehair INSTEAD of getting a rehair. I also learned in my reading that the cheaper bows are not set up to be rehaired. I'm not sure what the difference is, but the expensive ones have something else done/not done to them to make rehairing easier. However, despite knowing that someday I'll have to get a replacement, I'm quite happy with this bow. It handles well and looks good.
Question: Can this bow be rehaired
Answer: Just let us know when you place your order. We have custom colors both for the sticks and the hair.

The entire visual feeling is fashionable and exquisite, plus a beautiful sound quality; made through the Italian traditional craftsmanship with deliberate care and delicacy------which makes it a fine art work. If it does not work, use peg compound to help lock the pegs in place. You can also apply chalk (or rosin cake) onto the pegs where it is inserted into the peg box.

The violin size determined by the neck/wrist approach would be the size that is more comfortable for students to hold. The violin size determined by the neck/mid-palm approach would be the biggest size students should use. The following table lists the length of each violin size. Find your length using your preferred approach and use that to determine the size of violin to get.

Question: Need to know quickly for Christmas: why are the hairs so loose? Will the giftee know how to tighten them? Know nothing about violin myself
Answer: Dear,This violin bow is made out of real Brazil wood,Please to make sure you are purchasing from Sky Music,Thank you very much for your inquiry,Best,GeorgeSky Music
Question: Is this bow made out of real wood
Answer: I think you need to use just enough pressure so you don't have scratchy sound. When I returned to the violin, I found it difficult to play as I used to. I had to be patient, play slowly repeating exercises several times. I feel age plays a large part. I'm 90.
Question: how much pressure do you use to bow? i started to play at 5 stopped at 7. i'm 65 years old wanting to start violin again i play 9 different instrument
Answer: No, it’s not. If you want a wound A-string, I think the flat tops and the flatwounds have them.

  • 31-31.5 inch long.
  • Good for any size Violin, Viola, Cello and Bass bows
  • Classic Black
  • All hairs are of similar thickness.

User questions & answers

Question: How many hairs are in each hank
Answer: idont know exactly, but, someboy toldme that is by weight. And most to be 7 gr.
Question: Is it easy to replace the hair? or it requires a professional
Answer: Cecilia, it takes a good bit of reading, study, and lots of practice, but like anything, consistent attempts will yield better results each time. Be prepared to make a few bad rehairs at first, but you will learn from your mistakes. Also, do not do any early attempts with your best treasured bow(s). Get a couple old "warpies" to practice repairing. There's also less expensive hair to use during learning process. There's a ton of online articles, books, and YouTube videos on rehairing. THE BEST thing you can do is stand next to a professional, and watch him/her do a few. No 2 bows are exactly alike, and there are many tricks to learn about getting things right. I know some players who don't rehair, but just buy a new bow for $60-$100, roughly the price of a good pro rehair job. (semi-professionals) A good deal of time is often spent on wedges, and hair cavities, before even initial hair insertion. Good luck.
Question: Is the process of acquiring the hair friendly to the horses? Do you just give the horses essentially a haircut
Answer: Sorry, bad news. The horsehair is usually a product of the slaughterhouse. There are some places where you can get "live" hair, but even then there's no real guarantee. The good news is that it is possible to hair a bow with hair collected from live, unharmed (except maybe for their dignity!) animals. The best way to be sure of hair like this is to collect it yourself, or have a horse-loving friend do it. Then you'll need to wash and sort the hair. Note: every so often, musicians with long locks will amuse themselves by playing with bows haired with their own hair! It works, but the hair doesn't last very long. Horsehair is best. Other note: there's a synthetic horsehair called Zarelon, but I've never heard anything good about it. Most luthiers will gasp, shudder, and become apoplectic if you mention it.
Question: How much hair is in each hank? I am a martial artist looking to make a fo chen (horse tail whisk
Answer: there are about 180 in each Hank. so 2 hanks are about 350~380.

Question: Di you sell replacement bands
Answer: As far as I know, it cannot be used for a cello. 2 very different set ups and instruments. I am not a fan of this particular brand of bow right. If you are really struggling with trying to get a straight bow, get 2 thick milkshake straws and put them in the f holes to guide the bow.
Question: Can this be used for 1/4 Cello
Answer: yes we do ship internationally. Upon checkout, Amazon will give the shipping price.
Question: can you ship your product to Canada
Answer: a 1/2 size bow right should work on a 12 in viola

User questions & answers

Question: What is the difference in sizes between 1/4 1/2 and 4/4 Am thinking of getting one, just not sure about the size
Answer: It comes ready to play however, I would spend a few more dollars and get a better violin. The quality of this instrument is not very good.
Question: Hello, I am a Double Bass player in my school orchestra. I am new to the violin, and wanted to know if the bridge/strings will be placed already? Thx
Answer: late reply but maybe it might help someone else, when i was 11 or so i was given a 3/4 violin. it was a good size for me, and big enough to grow into. even at 24 i can still play the 3/4 when my 4/4 was being repaired though yes it is a bit small for me now, but i didn't want to fall out of practice. i dont really know how much smaller the 1/2 is in my hands i think that would be good for an 8 year old but you would need to upgrade to a 3/4 or 4/4 by the time they are 13-15, if they grow fast during puberty i would just pay for a 4/4 and have them grow into it.
Question: What size is for children
Answer: I think it would be great for a twelve year old to play because even though it didn't work for me it would never work as a toy toy you can play around with but with this violin I think it's great for a twelve year old I mean my sister plays that same one and she is only 11.
Question: Is this a real violin for a twelve year old starting to play or is it a toy
Answer: No, I'm just an individual with a single item. What we found to be even better than the original bands are basic hair bands.

To measure what size violin best suits you, you need to know the length between your neck and the middle of your left-hand palm (when your hand is fully extended and raised perpendicular to your body, just like holding a violin). Most of the teachers prefer students to use the length from the neck to the wrist for measurement instead of the neck to mid-palm approach.

If you have a teacher, you should ask for your teacher's recommendation. If you don't have a teacher, we would recommend using the neck/wrist approach for students not using full size; for students who are deciding whether to used size 3/4 or size 4/4, use the neck/mid-palm approach. This is because it is always better those students feeling comfortable holding and playing the violin. However, while deciding between size 3/4 and size 4/4, if neck/mid-palm approach allows for size 4/4, then buying a size 4/4 is more economical since you don't have to buy another bigger size violin later. This is completely based on economical consideration. You should still decide what best suits your need.

Kinglos electric-violin provides violinists of all levels with the ability to practice confidently without disturbing others. Though the acoustic sound produced is barely a whisper, with headphones you will hear yourself in the rich, virtual environment of a resonant concert hall.

Differences among the Kinglos electric violins of "Intermediate", "Advanced" and "Advanced 3-band-EQ":

The main difference between the Intermediate and Advanced is in sound pickup, the pickup's effect and sensitivity of Advanced series are better than Intermediate's.

Compared with Intermediate and Advanced series, the handicraft of Advanced 3-band-EQ is more complex and costs more expensive. The Advanced 3-band-EQ also has adjusting capabilities for high pitch, bass and mixed voice; while the Intermediate and Advanced can only adjust volume and mixed voice.

Notes:

  • Just like all of other new violins, you may need to retune strings first few times when you start to play.
  • When cleaning, please using soft cloth to clean the body and strings, and loose the hair of the bow after playing.
  • In order to not damage the violin when shipping, the bridge may be under the fine tuners with a white paper package. You can put the bridge on the right place just like our pictures showed before you retune the strings.
  • How to keep strings in tune: push the pegs inward as you tune the strings up to pitch. This ensures that the pegs hold tighter as the tension of the string goes up. If it does not work, use peg compound to help lock the pegs in place. You can also apply chalk (or rosin cake) onto the pegs where it is inserted into the peg box.
