9 best gate pedal with effects loops

A gate pedal with effects loops is a specialized guitar pedal used by musicians, particularly electric guitarists, to control unwanted noise and enhance their overall sound quality. This type of pedal combines two main functions: noise gating and effects loop integration. Here's what you should know about gate pedals with effects loops:

  1. Noise Gating:

    • Noise Reduction: The primary function of a gate pedal is to reduce or eliminate unwanted noise, such as hum, hiss, or background noise, from your guitar signal. This is especially important when playing with high-gain settings or in noisy environments.

    • Threshold Control: Gate pedals have a threshold control knob that allows you to set the level at which the gate opens and allows your signal to pass through. Signals below the set threshold are attenuated or muted.

    • Release Time: Gate pedals often have a release time control that determines how quickly the gate closes after the input signal falls below the threshold. Adjusting this parameter affects the natural decay of your notes and can impact your playing style.

  2. Effects Loop:

    • Effects Integration: The addition of an effects loop in the gate pedal allows you to insert other guitar effects pedals into the signal chain. This is particularly useful if you want to apply time-based effects like delay and reverb after the gating process. Placing these effects in the loop ensures they are not affected by the noise gate.

    • Signal Routing: The effects loop typically has two connectors - "send" and "return." You connect your other effects pedals to these connectors, enabling you to route your guitar signal through them without affecting the gating process.

  3. Routing Options:

    • Many gate pedals with effects loops offer flexible routing options, allowing you to choose whether the gate operates before or after your effects. This flexibility lets you experiment with different signal chain configurations to achieve the desired sound.
  4. Settings and Controls:

    • In addition to threshold and release time controls for noise gating, these pedals may have other features such as a "hard" or "soft" mode, which affects the gating behavior. Some models may also include a side-chain input for more advanced noise control.
  5. Usage:

    • Musicians often use gate pedals with effects loops in live performances and studio recordings to clean up their guitar tone and prevent unwanted noise from affecting the overall sound quality.
  6. Compatibility:

    • Gate pedals with effects loops are compatible with a wide range of electric guitars, amplifiers, and other effects pedals. They can be integrated into various setups, making them a versatile tool for guitarists.
  7. Sound Enhancement:

    • By effectively eliminating noise and allowing for the integration of time-based effects, gate pedals with effects loops can enhance the clarity and quality of your guitar sound.

When using a gate pedal with effects loops, it's important to experiment with the settings to find the right balance between noise reduction and preserving the natural sustain and decay of your guitar notes. This pedal can be a valuable addition to a guitarist's toolkit, especially when aiming for a clean and noise-free performance.

User questions & answers

Question: why is this in the toys category? it's not a dud is it
Answer: Not a dud, actually a good pedal, especially for the price
Question: Hello, are there holes or something on the back that allow the pedal to be attach to a larger wood board for stability
Answer: No holes...i use a holeyboard which has predrilled holes that allow me to strap it down with zip ties. If you want to drill small holes in your board that's an easy fix and is a very stable set up.
Question: will it kill the tone? Wil the stustain be there still? thanks
Answer: It will kill the noise, check your spelling and grammar. Your tone will still be there. However, the tone is in your hands. I love mine!
Question: Does this pedal drastically kill sustain? Or does it gradually diminish it at a reasonable rate
Answer: In my opinion, the pedal does not kill sustain. I play a tele, firebird, and es335 through my regular setup (Vox AC30) and barely notice any change. I perfer the "soft" setting of the switch and have the dial set at 8 o'clock. Remember, if your pedal board is really noisy, you're not setting it up correctly.

User questions & answers

Question: I have an 80's fender tube amp that produces an obnoxious buzz with NO guitar plugged into it. Will this help if I add it via the effects loop
Answer: Maybe...and maybe not. My 70 ' s Bass man and Deluxe reverb generate the usual tube amp hiss and a little 60 cycle hum if really cranked but nothing going like what you describe. Your noise could be coming from some shady capacitors or somewhere other than the output section where a noise gate can be helpful. I'd get my amp checked out first.
Question: I am going to add this pedal at the end of my effects chain, before my compressor. Is that the right choice
Answer: I put my noise gate after the tuner. No need to effect the noise till the end.
Question: There are too many negative reviews here for me to buy one of these. Question is, Who DOES make a noise suppressor that works and doesn't cost
Answer: I got the Dinner. It really seems to work well and dosent muddy my signal
Question: How is this to be used with Compressor and Overdrive pedals before the amp
Answer: To use this noise reducer with the overdrive and a compressor before the amp you will connect the aformentioned pedals to the noise reducer loop from the send output..so send from nr..to either com or od (whichever u choose first)then to next pedal then to the return of the nr then connect from the output of the nr to the input of your amp.Connect guitar to the input of the nr.So the od and com is in the nr's effects loop.

Product description

ISP Technologies introduces the new DECI-MATE G Micro Decimator pedal. The DECI-MATE G pedal is a full implementation of the world renowned Decimator G circuit with new patent pending tracking improvements all in a small, micro pedal package. When real estate is critical the DECI-MATE G is the answer. Now you can have the best noise reduction available in a micro pedal package with the full functionality of the larger G version of the Decimator pedal. The DECI-MATE G has a loop to insert your noisy pedals or connect to the effects loop of a guitar amplifier that has a series loop. The G version of the Decimator allows the noise reduction to directly track the guitar output. The advantage of tracking the direct guitar is the noise floor of the direct guitar output remains constant when you switch pedals or preamplifiers with different gain settings. This allows the DECI-MATE G to eliminate the noise in your rig without any need to adjustment it’s threshold setting for different gains and the corresponding noise floor changes. You can switch between extreme high gain and clean and never need to adjust the threshold. The ISP Technologies engineering team has spent years perfecting the operation of real time noise reduction and has been awarded multiple patents for the Decimator Technology. Patents include the technology for the adaptive response of the Decimator, which tracks the envelope of both super fast staccato notes as well as long sustained notes.

User questions & answers

Question: will these work for a J
Answer: A women’s 9.5 is equivalent to a men’s 7.5-8, you should use the S/M according to the package. I am assuming they’re talking about a men’s size 9 to hen they indicate less than 9 go with the S/M, greater than 9 go with the L/XL.
Question: Will these work for the Jura J
Answer: If your fitness bike has a standard bicycle pedal, they will work.
Question: Are these necessary if I have a water softener? My water is not hard at all, but the machine is telling me to decalcify
Answer: comes as a set of 2
Question: Can these work in place of the 2 step cleaning tablets
Answer: The back of the tag says that a US shoe size of 9 or less = S/M and a shoe size greater than 9 = L/XL

Fight Limescale

When water is heated, limescale is deposited. Pipes narrowed by limescale not only slow down the heating process and therefore consume more energy, but may even cause the machine to break down completely. Limescale also has a negative effect on the coffee itself. Although a small amount of calcium carbonate is important to the flavor of coffee, too much gives the water an unpleasant aftertaste and prevents the coffee aromas from developing as they should, partly due to fluctuating water

JURA has developed a descaling tablet to extend the service life of your coffee machine by removing scale and yet still being easy on your machine.

User questions & answers

Question: Can someone explain how to set up the sidechaining path
Answer: Maggie. At its highest position, you have a height of 14.0 cms (5.5") with the grille in place. With the grille removed, it measures 18 cms. to the bottom of the sump. However, the profile in the sump will not allow placing a mug into it, unless you modify either the base of the mug or the profile of the sump. Additionally, the sump, most of the time will contain liquid. (water from flushing the system)
Question: I run a stereo rig...can I use the two inputs/outputs for vanilla stereo routing
Answer: yes I can :) We now are happy owners of the Krups EA8250 - you can actually adjust temperature from hot to very hot. We have it set now to medium hot - and it's AWESOME. The Ena 1 is a beautiful machine - but I have to say the Krups - made in France - yes pretty amazing - small footprint - is equally dazzling and takes up little space compared to Ena 1. we just moved Ena 1 to back up area in man cave. The Krups is not only beautiful, it makes an amazing cup of coffee, or expresso - does what we want it to (we are straight coffee drinkers ) it exceeds expectations. We just got $35 off - coupon from Amazon I think the promotion is still going on. check it out you will be impressed for sure.
Question: Is this good to cancel the hissss sound from a heavy metal distorion pedal
Answer: I found I could get 40 cups of coffee from a 12oz pack of beans. In my case that worked out to be $0.30 per cup (using Peets beans), around half the price of Nespresso.
Question: How many mA
Answer: Oh yes, you can. There are three settings for concentration of beans and three more settings for how much water. And you can match those six buttons up any which way you want. A cup of ristretto would be made by using the most concentrated beans and the least amount of water. An espresso would be made by using the little bit larger amount of water. A "regular cup of coffee" would use the largest volume of water. The largest amount of pre-programmed water is about 6 ounces. You can easily re-program the machine to give you even more water. (We've not tried to do that, but I just checked it out in the instruction booklet.) Besides the six settings on the machine, you can also change the strength of the coffee by your choice of coffee bean. Where we buy our beans--Peet's--they offer a complete range of "strengths": More robust, less robust, milder, medium, etc. (you get the picture). But, bottom line: The fact that you can pour in ONE kind of bean and each person can immediately create their own preference by hitting one button from the grind category and one other button from the water volume category, is the reason our family loves this machine. I can pour in some beans, then make a single shot of espresso, then my husband can follow me immediately and make a "regular" cup of joe. I totally understand your concerns: Because you might not always want an espresso; you might want a cup of coffee to go along with your bacon, eggs and toast. And, very definitely, you can have both with this machine. Just comment to my review if you have any other questions; I do read comments to my reviews and I'm always happy to answer any questions.
Question: Has anyone used this on a bass
Answer: Yes,they fit it.
Question: I get a lot of f.back while playing. Can this help me decrease the fback
Answer: You can use a 19MM wrench to install it.
Question: Need to eliminate Feedback from a full hollowbody guitar G2420, when I add fuzz/overdrive/distortion will this do that
Answer: You can adjust the screw on SPD.
Question: How can you run the amps effects loop pedals through this gate
Answer: Use the same wrench that came with the bike. The wrench buckle position is 19MM.Probably 9/16. Remember the left pedal is reverse threaded.

User questions & answers

Question: Will this work on a mosky looper
Answer: For descaling, yes, this product works for all Jura models.
Question: Can you use a battery
Answer: I looked at the instructions online for your J6 with almost identical cleaning and decalcifying instructions. It appears that the J6 is very similar to my C9. I would think it would work. I put the decalcifying tablets in a plastic measuring cup with the ounces of water called for in the instructions and let them dissolve completely prior to adding them to the water reservoir and then run the decalcifying cycle. I also use the Jura cleaning tablets when my machine is due to be cleaned not decalcified. It seems the cleaning tablets would work for your J6 too. I hope this was helpful. As a side note, I don't use the optional filter on my unit and only decalcify and clean when the maker prompts me.
Question: Does the pedal come with its own cord
Answer: Normally, a functioning water softener eliminates the need to decalcify. If you have a Jura Capresso machine you have to tell the machine how hard your water is and then it figures out when to decalcify. The machine does not know how hard your water is; you have to tell it. Detailed instructions are available online for all Jura machines. You can also get a hardness measuring kit from HACH Company and actually measure your water hardness. Then you can set your machine accordingly. This is the safest approach and it is what I do. After almost 10,000 cups made by my Jura Capresso Z9, everything works perfectly. It's good idea to check the functioning of your water softener anyway. If you water hardness is under 4 grains per gallon you can forget decalcification and your softener should easily assure that degree of hardness or less.
Question: Does this go pre or post dirt in the signal chain
Answer: No. This is specifically for Decalcifying. No cleaning. I have to do both to my machine.

User questions & answers

Question: I mostly get a whooshing noise from some of my pedals. Is this something that can fix that
Answer: now when you say whooshing is it something that switching the pickup position or messing with/ turning off certain pedals fixes? Because if it's the guitar then you can re-solder everything and see if that changes anything, but if it's the pedals, and this one specifically try turning the threshold and decay in towards each other so the lines line up and go from there, but just mess your pedals a bunch and see if anything happens. If worse comes to worse open whatever pedals make that noise and see if you can clean the boards out, dust can make all the difference sometimes
Question: I get a lot of feedback while playing. Can this pedal decrease the f.back? Thanks
Answer: Yes, it definetely can decrease the feedback, even if you playing loud in a 100 watts head, which is my case. I totally recommend this pedal!! cheers
Question: Will this help with single coil feedback played through a tube amp
Answer: It should reduce all line noise, period, coming from your guitar INTO the amp. I assume you're talking about the 60 cycle hum from something like a single coil Strat/Tele. Since that is going through the line INTO the amp, I think you will find improvements with this. The NS-2 is a widely-respected pedal even used by many pros. Just keep in mind, the noise doesn't magically disappear. You have to attenuate it which means it might be a trade off on volume or sustain. My experience has been, though, that the loss of volume/sustain is VERY small in proportion to the amount of noise reduction. It's a great pedal.
Question: Where to put it? It does a great job but, when using the MXR Blue Box, it kills it entirely. Do I need to bypass it entirely to use that effect
Answer: Boss recommends :The Effects ChainSet up your effects chain in its usual configuration.Remove any delay and reverb pedals from the effects chain. I don't have my Delay in the chain and works well. I have 5 pedals in the chain with the NS-2 and the delay outside the chain. Be sure to loop, with cable , from NS-2 "send" back to the first pedal. Then use NS-2 "Output" to the Delay or reverb. Hope this helpsI am not familiar with the MXR Blue Box but if you follow the instructions it should work or take the Blue Box out of the chain like you would with the delay.

Answer: This works ok with the pedals you mention. It's sensitive so it takes time to get the right adjustment and the adjust you set for overdrive may be too much for a clean setting. I would look at other noise gates as well.
Question: Is it a tremolo or a flanger? a lot of reviews are mentioning "flanger" in the text but tremolo is not the same as flanger fx
