12 best donner bass distortion pedals
Donner Bass Distortion Pedals are a type of musical equipment designed for electric bass guitar players. These pedals fall under the category of "Single Effects" and are commonly used in the realm of electric guitar effects and musical instruments. Here's what you need to know about Donner Bass Distortion Pedals:
Purpose: Donner Bass Distortion Pedals are used to modify the sound of a bass guitar by adding distortion or overdrive effects. These effects introduce harmonically rich and saturated tones, which can range from mild crunch to heavy distortion, depending on the settings.
Sound Modification: When engaged, a Donner Bass Distortion Pedal alters the clean signal from the bass guitar, creating a more aggressive and edgy sound. This can be particularly useful for genres of music that require a heavier, grittier bass tone, such as rock, metal, or punk.
Controls: These pedals typically have various control knobs that allow users to adjust the distortion effect to their liking. Common controls include "Gain," which determines the amount of distortion, "Tone," which adjusts the EQ settings, and "Level," which controls the output volume.
True Bypass: Many Donner Bass Distortion Pedals are equipped with a true bypass feature.True bypass ensures that when the pedal is turned off, it does not affect the bass guitar's signal path, preserving the original clean tone without any coloration.
Compatibility: Donner Bass Distortion Pedals are designed to be compatible with most bass guitars and amplifiers. They can be connected to the bass guitar using standard instrument cables.
Power Source: These pedals are typically powered by a 9V DC power supply or a 9V battery, depending on the model. Some may also support the use of an external power adapter for extended use.
Durability: Donner is known for producing durable and reliable pedal enclosures. Their pedals are often housed in rugged metal cases, making them suitable for the rigors of live performances and studio use.
Affordability: Donner Bass Distortion Pedals are often priced competitively, making them an attractive option for bass players looking to add distortion to their sound without breaking the bank.
Sound Versatility: Depending on the specific model, Donner Bass Distortion Pedals may offer a wide range of distortion tones, from subtle to extreme, allowing musicians to achieve the desired sound for their music.
Pedalboard Integration: These pedals can be integrated into a musician's pedalboard setup, allowing for easy control and switching between different effects during a performance.
In summary, Donner Bass Distortion Pedals are a valuable tool for bass guitarists looking to shape their sound by adding distortion and overdrive effects to their music. They offer versatility, control, and affordability, making them a popular choice among musicians in various genres.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does the sound cut out on high gain for anyone else |
Answer: | I haven't noticed that but I stopped using it because it was just to much for my needs. |
Question: | This is an effect pedal, correct? And not a switch to control the amp |
Answer: | Yes it's an effect pedal. It's a clone of the proco rat. |
Question: | What is this pedal a clone of |
Answer: | The ProCo Rat. I believe the "Hyper" mode is supposed to be the 90's Turbo Rat, although I never owned that pedal. The "Classic" mode is a clone of one of the iterations of the more famous 80's Rat/Rat2 -- I owned both of those in the late 80's/early 90's (didn't everyone then?), but it's been too long for me to remember which, plus even the same version of the 80's RAT had different chips for different years. In any case, "Classic" mode is roughly an 80's Rat, while "Turbo" mode is roughly a 90's Turbo Rat. |

Question: | does this unit take a 9 volt battery as well instead of having to plug into an electrical outlet |
Answer: | No. Only electric plug in. But the sound is incredible for the cost! And it is made better than any Boss pedal I’ve ever had. |
Question: | Is this a clone of the fulltone OCD pedal |
Answer: | More or less. It’s a bit brighter than the ocd. Great for humbuckers or tele twang. A bit shrill on Strat tones. |

Question: | Can this be used with a electric violin |
Answer: | Depends on your guitar and settings but the box itself doesn’t add any noise. If you use batteries instead of plugging in you can get rid is some noise from dirty AC power. |
Question: | Just to confirm, is this a multi effects pedal |
Answer: | Press the Play/Stop button to turn the drum machine on and off. Turning the Value/Drums knob scrolls thru the different beats. Adjust the tempo with the tap tempo button. Hope this helps. |
Question: | Does it have spring reverb |
Answer: | No you don’t. This pedal acts as many pedals in one. You can even hang it on yourself lol... Just plug your cord from the guitar into the item and another cord from the item into the amplifier if you’re using one. Donner Dumbal Drive is a true analog circuit overdrive pedal based on the legendary D-style amplifier, provides a clean boost to mild crunchy overdrive tone, enhances the natural sound of your guitar and amplifier.
A real tube like sound, smooth compression and huge dynamic offer you glossy and transparent guitar tone.
Two ways of EQ and three clipping circuit mode provide you a lot of options to adjust your rigs while preserving its fundamental character.
Once you try it, you will never forget the sound of Dumbal Drive.
Notes:
Three clipping circuit mode:
Mode I controls the distortion of the upper half of the waveform, and the sense of hearing is that the high frequency becomes more, the sound head becomes larger, and a small amount of compression.
Mode II controls the distortion of the upper and lower half waves, and the sound is balanced overload, and basically feels little compression.
Mode III controls the distortion of the lower half wave, and the sense of hearing is that the low frequency becomes more and the sense of compression is strongest.
Volume:
Gain means input signal and Vol means output signal. Vol and Gain controls the input volume together. The size of the input signal is also related to the size of the guitar input signal.
The setting of the Donner Dumbal Drive is that when the gain and volume are at 12 o'clock, the overall output volume is balanced. As the gain decreases, the output signal needs to be increased to maintain balance, and the volume must be increased accordingly. The opposite is the same.
- An overdrive circuit based on the legendary D-style amplifier.
- Three clipping circuit mode.
- Two ways of EQ adjustment.
- Natural sound, real tube like touching, smooth compression and huge dynamic. Provides a clean transparent boost to mild warm crunchy overdrive guitar tone. A re-edition of *Timmy Overdrive.
- Keeps the characteristics of the tones that the guitar naturally produces. 100% Analog, True Bypass. DC 9V Adapter power supply. (plug polarity is positive on the barrel and negative in the center).(Not Included)
User questions & answers
Question: | Does this guitar effects pedal add noise to your signal |
Answer: | It lifts a motorcycle. I am not going to go out to the garage to check. Call the manufacturer. |
Question: | Is it a clone of anything? What is it comparable to |
Answer: | Do not know exactly how many, but its not real quick, but its about as few turns to keep the effort from being too much. I raise an 850-900# bagger and its fairly stiff. I am thinking about putting an impact wrench or 1/2" drill motor and a 7/8" socket to raise it, after it makes initial contact |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this be used on a Bass guitar |
Answer: | Yes it can! I just got mine today and tried it out on an Epiphone EB-0 bass which took that super fat bass sound and enhanced the attack, smoothed out the dynamics and gave a nice overall boost to the sound. I had similar results with an Ibanez 5 string that has passive single coil pickups. I was originally looking at a couple other compressors that have a blend knob on them. This comp was so inexpensive I figured I would try it anyway and if I did't like it I wouldn't be out much money. Well it turns out I really like this pedal and I don't need one with a blend because this one does the job in a transparent sort of way that I like. With all knobs at the 12 o'clock position and the treble switch in the up position this little guy works well for my bass sound. The size is nice too. |
Question: | I'm fairly new to compressors. Will this pedal help with sustain on clean slide playing? (Live not studio |
Answer: | without a doubt YES! Listen to any of the first five or so Little Feat albums. That is Lowell George on electric slide. His signature tone used fairly heavy compression to cop wonderful clean sustain. I put my compressor first in my signal chain for the same reason. It also sweetens my overdriven solos. I would feel naked without compression in my rig. |
Question: | anyone compare this with joyo and mooer compressors? thanks |
Answer: | I have not compared to other compressor pedals, but for the price it is a decent little pedal with noticeable sustain/compression. I do find that main knob, the "compression" control, works well but the "level" control is very sensitive. I have to keep mine down below 10 or 11 o'clock, otherwise it just gets very loud. The toggle switch is also effective between normal and treble for a brighter tone. As for the "tone" control, this also needs to be fine tuned as anything past 12 o clock gets very bright, unless that's what you're aiming for. |
Question: | anyone compare this to the behringer compressor |
Answer: | I haven't compared this to the Behringer compressor but I have compared it to a MXR Dyna comp. The Behringer pedals I've had sounded good but were not very well made and crapped out on me after not much use. The Donner is a well built pedal and has a wide range of compression for the price. It is also a pretty quiet compressor compared to the Dyna Comp. I have a few of the smaller footprint pedals (Moore and Ibanez) and this one is built like a tank. For $40 it is a good purchase. |
