Question: I have a loop pedal, can I loop the effects already on the amp through the loop pedal and out the same amp? (Sorry if this question is confusing
Answer: How's this? I do not think so, but possibly as I have not tried a mic. On the box it says "versatile 3-channel stereo mixer. A diagram on the box shows one channel for a mic and two channels for either a keyboard or drum machine, guitar multi effects or a v-guitar system. aux input with RCA plugs for CD/MP3/recorder. Then it says expandable with Stereo Link for up to 10 inputs. Again, the diagram shows only one mic in channel #1 for either 1/4" jack or a regular 3 prong mic. I hope this helps.
Question: Can you use the me80 as the switch board
Answer: It would be good for vocals and mic'd acoustical instruments, but an electric bass guitar really should have it's own amp. Find an amp that's designed specifically for bass guitar. If you're on a tight budget, you might look for a used one on Craig's list, ebay, or at a pawn shop. Even Amazon sometimes has used or refurbished stuff.
Question: Trying to decide bewtween this and the marshall 50 watt code. Want something for room lractice and possibly playing with drums. Playing Metal...a
Answer: Yes. I use mine for television, drums, organ, guitar, vocals or anything else. Just keep in mind that it is low amps. It works well in most rooms, but maybe not in a loud coffee shop or bar.
Question: Does this have an Octaver, and Wah
Answer: This is not the kind of sound that you want for your harp. Unless you just want to get good loud mids. In the case of my piano, bass and high pitched notes were awfully distorted.

About the Katana Amp Series

Katana—the traditional sword carried by the historic samurai of Japan—is a symbol of honor, precision, and artistry in Japanese culture. Adopting the majestic sword’s name with pride, the Katana series presents guitar amplifiers with smooth, cutting tones honed by generations of dedication and expertise. Born of the development process behind the acclaimed Waza amplifier, these innovative amps embody BOSS’s determined pursuit of the ultimate rock sound. Featuring proprietary circuit designs and meticulous tuning, the Katana series combines traditional craftsmanship and breakthrough functions to produce true next-generation rock amplifiers.

A Refined Amp with Inspiring Tone

Designed for guitarists who are serious about their sound, the Katana-100 offers exceptional tone and touch response for stage playing, recording, and simply practicing at home. A standout characteristic of every Katana amp is the dynamic interaction between its output section and the speaker, which provides the ultra-responsive musical experience that players crave. The Version 2 update adds an expressive Cabinet Resonance function derived from the flagship Waza amps, which allows you to customize this interaction for your touch with three resonance types. Delivering class-defying power, authoritative punch, and cutting presence that stands shoulder-to-shoulder with high-end amp designs, the Katana-100 is ready to meet the needs of any playing situation.

Five Original Amp Characters, Honed for Rock Playing

Sharpened to perfection by the BOSS engineering team, the Katana-100’s five amp characters offer everything from organic vintage tones to modern high-gain sounds. Clean is natural and transparent, while Crunch offers satisfying grit and response. Lead has a wide gain range to suit many styles, from fat, stinging blues solos to fluid legato shredding. With DNA inherited from the Waza amp, Brown delivers refined high-gain tone sought after by the world’s greatest rock players. The Acoustic character further enhances the Katana’s versatility, providing optimized tone that makes acoustic-electric guitars sound stunningly natural.

Leave Your Pedalboard at Home

With its built-in BOSS effects, the Katana-100 lets you perform anywhere with just a guitar and amp. Connecting to BOSS Tone Studio via USB provides access to 58 fully-customizable effects, and you can load your favorites into the amp’s various effects sections. Going beyond standard distortion, delay, and reverb, the selection includes powerful tone-shapers like pitch shifting, ring mod, slicer, and many more. Newly added in Version 2, the SDE-3000 delay, Phaser 90E, and Flanger 117E effects provide classic sounds that are a perfect match for the Katana’s Brown channel tones. Additional updates include the ability to use delay and delay-plus-reverb in the Reverb section, plus enhanced send/return routing for using favorite pedals and other external processing in the amp’s effects loop.

Tone Settings: One-Touch Recall of Custom Amp and Effects Setups

One of the Katana-100’s most powerful features is the ability to store favorite amp channel and effects setups in Tone Setting memories for instant recall. The Version 2 update adds a second bank of Tone Settings, doubling the number of available memories from four to eight. Combined with the newly added channel and global parametric EQs (configurable in BOSS Tone Studio), this elevates the Katana-100’s performance versatility to even higher levels. It’s easy to select Tone Settings and switch between the two banks from a panel button, or via an optional external footswitch for hands-free control on the gig.

Grab-and-Go Operation

While the Katana-100 includes many advanced features, it’s amazingly simple to operate. Familiar knobs for gain, three-band EQ, and presence let you quickly dial in your tone, just as you would with any standard amp. Essential effects parameters are adjusted with a simple knob twist, and Tone Settings can be stored with a brief button hold. And with the convenient Power Control, you can roll back the volume for small stages and home playing while retaining the expressive tone and feel of a cranked-up amp. The Katana-100 also features line, USB, and phones/recording outputs with cabinet simulation, allowing you to send mic’d up amp tones to a PA system, computer DAW, or headphones for quiet practice. Version 2 further enhances this capability with three Air Feel settings derived from the flagship Waza amps.

BOSS Tone Central

At the BOSS Tone Central website, you’ll find numerous free amp and effects setups for the Katana series. User questions & answers

Question: Is the strap handle detachable
Answer: The short answer is no. The loop pedal records and plays back the input signal to the amp and sums it with the new input, while you play over it. Therefore, the effects of the amp are out of the path and only get modified by the amp once.
Question: Not super knowledgable about this sort of thing. Can I plug in a laptop and a mic
Answer: Hi, not really sure what you mean by "switch board" bu you can connect the output of the ME80 to the input of the Katana 100, is that is what you are asking
Question: Does this amp have reverb and echo effects
Answer: Boss 100!!!! Get the controller pedal that goes with the Boss 100. You won’t be sorry. I started out the 50. Loved it still do, but the 100 is more versitale
Question: Is there an adapter that works with this
Answer: Hello, This amp does not have an Octave or Wah effect built in. Let us know if you have any other questions, thanks! -Kevin at Spotlight Music

User questions & answers

Question: Does this transpose
Answer: Yes it is detachable.
Question: Does it allow 2 people to wear headphones at once
Answer: I'm not sure exactly what you want to do with the laptop. If you want to play music from the laptop, the MicroCube has a stereo mini-jack input which you can connect to the headphone output on the laptop to play sound from the laptop. You can plug a microphone into the instrument input. The COSM amp selector has a mic position. Note that the instrument jack is a 1/4 " phone plug and does not supply 48v phantom power or an XLR connection for a mic so you would need to use an appropriate mike and cable. (dynamic rather than condenser) A good choice might be a Shure SM48LC with a Pyle-Pro PPMJL15 Professional Microphone Cable 1/4'' Male to XLR Female.
Question: does it come with the holder for music sheet
Answer: It has a reverb/delay and an EFX flanger/chorus/T-wah variable knob. There is an amplifier modeler switch with interesting sounds e.g.octave bass and B-man etc. It also has a rhythm guide and a bass/middle/treble equalizer. Hope that helps.
Question: Does this include a stand
Answer: it comes with it's own power supply adapter, similar to a laptop computer's power brick.

User questions & answers

Question: battery life
Answer: Don't make it harder than it should be. Just put in 6 AA Energizer batteries for peat sake. They last a long time
Question: What if it gets caught out in the rain? is it waterproof
Answer: It's not waterproof. Roland sells a cover to use on this amp when you get caught out in the rain. The cover was really expensive, and I don't think I'd want to try it in a heavy downpour.
Question: Why product specs don't mention it is 5 watts per channel or total 5 watts
Answer: Hi, It is 5 watts total. 2.5 watts per channel.
Question: hi! This amplifier can it works without batteries? I mean, connected directly to the electricity
Answer: Yes, and it does come with a power supply. I have this same unit at home and my daughter does not even realize that you can use batteries. This was the most popular amplifier I saw being used by street performers throughout France this past summer. I was amazed that everyone used them and they sounded great.

User questions & answers

Question: Can I use the Cube with a mic that requires phantom power or do I need to get an adapter
Answer: Yes just buy a Pantom power box. They are cheap. I think I paid $24 for one that works great.
Question: Is this loud anough for busking? Wether your using a classical guitar or playing Blues Rock or Black Sabbath with a electric guitar
Answer: I use a classical guitar a jazz guitar and a fender. 50 watts is loud. I also use a rythmn machine and my voice comes out nice.
Question: Can you buy additional battery back plate to hold spare pack
Answer: I would contact Roland directly in regards to this.
Question: How would this handle a fender bass vi
Answer: I play a five string Fretless acoustic bass through it and as long as you are realistic about the low end capabilities, you are fine...I would never crank the gain on my active bass and try to blast at the peak volume, the speakers would die. A more expensive option would be the Phil jones briefcase, which doesn't come with a battery, but you can buy and install one to it. Short answer, yes if you are careful, if you have the money look into the Phil Jones Briefcase
