User questions & answers
Question: | Where is this amp made - thanks |
Answer: | This amp sounds great even though it's made in Mexico. The speakers are Fender (Jensen) Made in USA. It's loud as hell. |
Question: | There's no auxilary or head phone jack |
Answer: | No. |
Question: | besides 4 the stock speaker does it have an extra speaker out 4 to make it a mini like stack |
Answer: | It has two speaker outs. The primary tap is at 8 ohms. When you plug into it and the second tap, the transformer's 4 ohm tap is used. This means you can either (1) run the amp alone on the internal 8 ohm speaker, or (2) run it with the internal speaker and an external 8 ohm running at the same time (in parallel), or (3) unplug the internal speaker and use the primary output to drive an 8-ohm external speaker cabinet, or finally (4) use both taps to drive two 8-ohm external speaker cabinets. I've done them all with my 2 14 year old Hot Rod Deluxes. |
Question: | Does it have a headphone jack |
Answer: | No this amp does not have a headphone jack. |
Question: | Can I use a Cr120 head amp on this cabinet |
Answer: | I wouldn't, the cr120 is a 120w head, this is a 60w cab. |
Question: | How high watt should the accompanying head be |
Answer: | 20 watts is fine. I would combine it with an Orange head with the standard tube pre-amp. I'm using the Micro Dark Orange head and it is more than enough! |
Question: | can i use this as a line out for a 50 watt vox acoustic electric amp |
Answer: | It's rated for 60 watts. Use for speaker out. Match impedence. |
Question: | Can I use only like a speaker to amplify the sound of a Digitech RP1000, or I need to buy the Head to use it |
Answer: | The Digitech RP1000 would only have 'line level' input and output. This speaker requires an amplifier to raise the line level to something suitable. So, yes, you would need an amp head. |

User questions & answers
Question: | i have a blackstar id150h which is pa ired with a 212 160w cab now would adding this cab work by itself or in conjunction with the cab i have |
Answer: | You could use this cab with your cab or by otself |
Question: | What kind of celestions are in this |
Answer: | I'm 99% sure they are celestian70 80s |
Question: | Is this one made in China |
Answer: | Hello,This is actually made in KY, pretty cool. All the CR stuff is made in China, the PPC112 for example at made in China, but pretty much most of the upper PPC are KY. RK models are UK. |
Question: | I have a Line6 HD150 sounds like junk on this. I play metal. What head under $1250 should i get thats not orange |
Answer: | As for me, I play Motown,Blues,Funk and Rock...From my experience over the years,I would most likely choose a 210,410 or 212 or 412 MARSHALL Cabinet. I am sure you can find one under $1250 US... |
Question: | Is it just breaking in the speakers and cranking your amp for these to sound good. played one at gc recently at a normal bedroom vol. sounded awful |
Answer: | I would say no. I'm guessing you would have been able to tell if it was just a new speaker thing vs something else, there is a difference but its not usually night and day, and the difference in sound between a cranked up amp/cabinet vs a low volume amp/cabinet is so drastically different that I don't think anyone can answer that question accurately for you, I will say when the Vintage 30's get pushed the midrange gets very present and is much more responsive (in a good way), the highs become more present too (some people hate that about these speakers), the bass can get slightly flubby but if you eq the amp correctly (including the amount of gain used) it can be really nice. Here is what I would ask yourself: Is it possible that the amp head you were using was the weak link, malfunctioning etc., was the Ohm-age correct between the amp/cabinet (should be 16 ohms) ? Did you play through an Orange "Crush" series cabinet ? These are the cheaper ones and don't have celestion Vintage 30 speakers in them, they have much less expensive speakers in them and look almost identical , however, I've played these at low volumes and didn't hate them (but you might, they're not the same quality). The PPC212 is the closed-back version of this cabinet (the picture associated with this amazon link is not correct, I believe the open back version is pictured here as it is much less rectangular than the PPC212) and has the Chinese made Celestion Vintage 30 speakers , which are really good speakers (I have the english and Chinese made ones in different cabs and I really like them both). Bottom line is that you should be able to get a range of different acceptable rock, metal, alternative etc. sounds from this cabinet if the right amp is used. These cabs have the same speakers in them that countless rock, alternative, metal and other styles of music have been recorded with successfully. It should sound good at different volumes (excluding extremely low and extremely loud of course) 1. Make sure it isn't the "Crush" series cabinets at GC 2. Try the cabinet with multiple amp heads (with matching ohms) at different volumes | Low, medium and reasonably loud before you buy, once you play with a drummer you'll be glad you tested it out that way 3. If you are not looking for a rock type sound (Im using this term loosely here, these should cover a lot of tonal ground), look at something like a Fender or Vox combo amp as these would be the opposite of a closed back cabinet/vintage 30's sound |
Question: | How long is the standard warranty? Sweetwater offers a 2 year warranty (could be manufacturer warranty) but Amazon will ship much faster |
Answer: | Hello,Technically it is 1 year, but they have a thing which extends it to 2 years, basically register product, so you are good to go. Let us know if we can help you further. https://www.orangeamps.com/usa-warranty-terms-and-conditions/ |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this cabinet lacquered to match the Hot Rod Deluxe Combo Amp? Or is it plain tweed |
Answer: | No, this cabinet is not lacquered, it has the plain tweed covering on it. Thanks. |
Question: | My daughter received this amp for Christmas to use with a loop pedal. There is hardly any sound. Is it meant to feed off another amp |
Answer: | Yes. What you have is an extension speaker cabinet. The cabinet is intended to be hooked up to an amplifier. You can, at this point, buy an amplifier to hook up to your speaker. You can get a 20 watt Orange Terror Amp for $150.00 here on Amazon. Type this in the search field B008BTTQI4 and you can take a look at it. You could also that your cabinet to a local music store and trade it for some type of "combo" amplifier. A combo has the amplifier and speaker all in one cabinet. |
Question: | Do any of you know how much the cab actually weighs? (not the shipping weight, but the cab weight |
Answer: | My tweed version weighs 23 lbs. I noticed that even the Fender website has it listed as weighing over 40 lbs, but that isn't the case. I weighed mine with postal scales. |
Question: | If I use this w/my Blues Deluxe can I unplug the stock speaker so it isn't too loud |
Answer: | Yes you can, but be very careful to always have a speaker plugged in anytime you power up your Blues Deluxe. Always have your power off when plugging or unplugging a speaker. You should also know that unplugging your in-cabinet speaker and using this one will not reduce your volume. It will stay about the same. Your volume will increase just a bit if you have both of them plugged in at the same time. |
