In the Insanity program, you do not use any weights, but will use your own body weight. you will likely increase your cardiovascular strength but the program does not use any weights, so you will not bulk up muscle at all. Answer: | Hi April, I think they are different. I have tried P90x and I didn't care for it. I had the bands to work with however were other equipment I didn't have that really made it hard to do the whole DVD. I wouldn't say one is better than the other I would just say which one is right for you. I really need to build up my cardio and that is what Insanity is doing for me. I also feel like insanity goes faster. I am already tired after the warm up but the DVD seems to go by faster. With P90X it seemed to drag but that could just be me. I haven't done P90x in almost 2 years. |

I am not sure why maybe it's the diet and compared to the other programs for me this may have not worked with my body. I did enjoy it but I need to tone back up. Answer: | are you currently doing a program? how active are you? Piyo isn't like any other program. If your used to crazy cardio, running. this isn't that. if your used to yoga, this isn't that. If your used to lifting weights at the gym....this isn't that. Even bodyweight exercises like insanity don't provide what Piyo does. Thats whats so great about piyo. I have been taking piyo live classes for about a year. I became a certified instructor a few months ago because I love this format. Its great for beginners because its low impact and really takes you through the moves and modifications and has great progression. If you are more active, this may seem slow the first few weeks. (20 minute workouts) the reason for this, is because most people don't have the wrist and joint strength to be in these positions for longer... You still get a great workout, work on flexibility, range of motion, strengthens you from the inside out so you REALLY have to give it the full 60 days before you can see any outside transformation. This is a TOTAL BODY wellness program. Ordered by wife. I have severe asthma, polymyalgia rhuematica. (form of arthritis). It was easier to sit and not move because of pain. Of course, you then have more and bigger problems with walking, standing and you are just plain weak- sitting all day your muscles get weak very fast when not in use. I was crying because I couldn't even get out of a chair let alone walk a few feet with feeling like my legs would give out and the pain...I can't tell you how much I hurt. The doctor told me to start exercising and to take it slow. I was physically fit until age 70. When I was diagnose with PMR and asthma. I had to look for senior exercise as I'm 74 and can't bounce around anymore. I bought this exercise program because of the ratings. It s wonderful. Use this 5 to 6 days week. Alternating discs. I feel great. I can now get out of the chair with no assistance and walk further than I have in a long time. I almost feel like myself again. I recommend this to everyone 60 years and above (50's too) no need to jump around for exercise. Ann Pringle Burnell is awesome in leading the exercise. I have been using this for two weeks. What a difference in the way i feel and move. You get a total body workout sitting in a chair. I was so weak and now I'm getting stronger by the day. Do not hesitate to get "Stronger Seniors".
