User questions & answers
Question: | has anyone found a good way to keep footrests on and secure when folded back? AND will they fit in back pouch? thanks |
Answer: | I keep mini bungee cords in the pouch for securing the legs when folded back, and keeping chair closed when we check it. Legs won’t fit in pouch. |
Question: | Is my chair faulty or missing a part to keep the legs from falling off when you fold the chair or unlock them |
Answer: | Hi Ms. Borrelli: Thank you for your inquiry. To answer your question, please examine your wheelchair to determine if the footrests / legs are installed correctly. The chair can be lifted with the footrests attached and not fall off. Hope this helps, if you need any further assistance, please contact our technical support at: (866) 621-4933. Thank you again, Deanna @ Drive |
Question: | How do I get replacement wheels for trnsport chair |
Answer: | You can get replacement parts or wheels from company Called Drive HME Medical shop 800-258-6313 |
Question: | How well does it deal with rain |
Answer: | As far as drying it off, it should be very easy due to the material that the seat is made of. Pushing it in rain is no problem unless there would be water above the wheels on the ground from a heavy rain. I don't think it would do well in Mudd, though I've never tried using it in muddy conditions. |

User questions & answers
Question: | If one of the front wheels got bent, how much would a new one cost |
Answer: | If your question pertains to the Carex Transport Wheelchair, I don't think the arms are replaceable. On the chair I ordered, the arms are welded to and part of the frame. If you mean the arm-rests, I'm not sure. Sorry I can't be of more help. |
Question: | How is this wheelchair on carpets |
Answer: | I believe it is 200 lbs. I bought this for my mother who only weighs 115 lbs. She likes it because you can move this close to the table do to the slant back arms. Ver good customer service from Carex. They stand behind their product. |
Question: | Are the leg rests removeable |
Answer: | Specs say 25+ lbs, seems right. However... width is crucial to me,bathroom door is 23in wide, one spec said 21.25 in,’Great’Altho another spec says 23 in,which is more accurate!! Bummer, trim is all chewed up now🤢😱 |
Question: | My footrests broke how can I get them replaced |
Answer: | The only assembly you have to do is pop in the wheels turn a few screws. After this, you also pop in the pedals and you are done. I assembled two of them. It took me 15 minutes total which included removing from the box and taking off the plastic and cardboard. Not that I have had any problems, be sure to double check all wheel screws before each use for added safety. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Could someone measure the chair from widest point to widest point. Have a 23 in door opening & want to make sure it fits b4 we order |
Answer: | I measured mom's chair...it measured 19 1/2 inches wide from outer wheel to outer wheel...hope this helps... |
Question: | We want it for our niece when she comes to visit Hawaii. Will it be good for sidewalks and pavement? We will be walking her to the beach |
Answer: | Yes, it will be good for a smaller person, I would say under 150 pounds any heavier the chair would be to hard to push because of the small wheels. It will not do on rough surface, grass or sand. Folds easy and light weight. The foot rest on two that I purchased kept falling down when getting out the chair. We had to fix both of the chairs by taking off the foot rest and adding black tape, now it works fine. |
Question: | Can you get a leg support to fit this....to hold leg straight out for broken knee cap |
Answer: | NoI would not recommend this for an injury such as thatIt is really perfect for Avery small 96 year old woman who just needs to be pushed around her home when tired |
Question: | What is the actual weight? One place in the description it says 19 lbs and in another it says 21 lbs. Thanks |
Answer: | Hi, Thank you for your inquiry, the actual weight is 19lbs, the shipping weight with the carton is 24lbs. Hope this helps, thank you again, Deanna @ Drive |

Question: | How much does it weigh |
Answer: | It doesn’t come with it, it folds up compactly. Ask Drive medical. |
Question: | Can the legs swing back out of the way |
Answer: | There is a pocket on the back of the wheelchair seat but I do not know if an oxygen canister would fit. It would depend on the size of the canister and the pocket is only able to hold a letter size folder. You could contact the company and see if the chair can have an attachment to hold the canister. Hope this helps |
Question: | Can you elevate the leg rest |
Answer: | You can buy 2 pcs for the rear wheels of Model DFL19, as individual items (STDS2A1800).Thank you. |
Question: | Looking for a lightweight chair that i can lift in and out of my car for my Mom - does anyone know the weight of the chair |
Answer: | I would use it at a museum. The difference in the transport wheelchair and a regular one is that someone has to push the transport wheelchair. If there are inclines, it might be a problem if the person in the wheelchair is heavy or the pusher is weak. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I have a drive wheelchair now for my husband new pad and swing out footrests the problem is I need a chair that measures 28 inches from the outside |
Answer: | the main frame is steel |
Question: | How is this chair in the grass? Not long distance, just in my yard |
Answer: | Hi! The wheels are rubber, it is fairly easy to roll around yourself. I don't fold it up, my Husband does and he says it is one of the lightest wheelchairs he has held. I don't know the exact weight, sorry. Since this chair is for an elderly person, I would recommend a wheelchair WITHOUT the "desk design". "Desk Design" is when the arms are indented to fit under a desk. I actually wish I had bought my chair with "regular" arms, no indent. These kind of arms: http://www.amazon.com/Invacare-LightWeight-Wheelchair-Swingaway-Footrest-Blue/dp/B0009G6W8E/ref=sr_1_48?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1398549667&sr=1-48&keywords=medline+wheelchairs |
Question: | can a person when sitting move chair around by themsleves |
Answer: | I have had to use the handles to raise the front end because there is no tilt bar. I have only had to do that twice. One it worked great and the last time I ended up turning the chair around and backing over a door threshold. Hope this helps. |
Question: | Would this be appropriate for a 235 lb person |
Answer: | Janice, it's weight is 43 lb as you see it on the picture. Putting it in the car trunk can be a little difficult task, depends on the physical capability of the person and accessibility to the car trunk. Handling on the floor is no problem. I am 72 year old man and did not have a problem loading it to the car. I hope this info will help. I have no complain so far about this product, but this wheelchair is the first I have owned and second I have used. |

User questions & answers
Question: | True Full Width, please anyone? Measuring back across fullest width from furthest protruding outer wheel point to other protruding outer wheel point |
Answer: | I haven't actually weighed it. I removed the foot rests. Friends have no problems getting it into and out of my car. Anyway, they don't complain about it. |
Question: | I can't get the wheel chair to open, how do I do that |
Answer: | We detached the legs and hung a leather belt between legs of Cruiser for feet to rest on when in motion |
Question: | Do the leg rests swing out |
Answer: | no, but they are removable |
Question: | will my husband who is 5'6" have to be hunched over while pushing me |
Answer: | I purchased this for my mom as well. It weighs 36 pounds or so. Once I figured out how to 'grab' it so I wasn't holding a wheel (which would then spin), it is pretty easy to lift in and our of car. Very easy to fold and unfold, and it rolls very smoothly. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How to repair if needed |
Answer: | If it is within 30 days try contacting Amazon. If over 30 days do a google search for drive medical and call them. They replaced my fathers walker when it broke 2 months after purchase. |
Question: | Is the difference btween the regular Drive Rollator & the Duet-- the 8" wheels? And the footrest / armrests |
Answer: | More important- it is not safe to push someone who is sitting on the rollator. With this transport chhair feature in addition to handles to push with there are footrests to make it safe for the rider. |
Question: | What is the use of information that the seat height can be increased when one doesn't know how high it is to start |
Answer: | Mr. Williams I will answer your question with some comments. A. My Rollator is a Model 795B B. Its seat height is 21 Inches and not adjustable on this model. C. I understand that on some of the newer models the seat height can be changed with the use of spacers. D. Personally, I consider the seat height relatively inconsequential because I seldom use the Rollator as a "chair". For me it serves as set of "crutches with wheels". |
Question: | Do the wheels swivel both directions( when it's pushed as a wheel chair and as a walker)? Are the wheels made of rubber or plastic |
Answer: | The picture on this page shows the unit arranged as a rollator. When the person pushing it wants to sit down they turn around and sit between the handles and lean on the backrest. When it is used as a transport chair, the backrest is removed and reinstalled in the reverse direction. A foot rest is dropped down so that the sitting person has a back rest and a foot rest. The person that pushes then uses the handles to push. This capability means that the unit travels in the same direction whether used as a rollator or transport chair. The leading two wheels are the only ones that swivel and they swivel in a complete circle. The wheels are very sturdy with molded plastic rims and solid rubber tires. |

User questions & answers
Question: | the product description says "the arm rests flip up to make transferring easy, fast and safer." someone below said that they do not. anybody know |
Answer: | The arms on the chair are spring loaded. You can push one button on either arm and it can be removed very easy. As far as “flipping up”, no it does not flip up. I still highly recommend this chair for the simplicity of use. |
Question: | How sterdy is this chair. Why remove casters, armrests do not remove, how is this chair outdoors on pavement |
Answer: | The chair proved to be very sturdy for my husband who is 150 lbs. We used it on the pavement on New York City, and it was easy to maneuver with no problems. He leans to the right due to spinal issues, and the chair maintains balance. We used it on a cruise ship and it was easy to maneuver around tight spaces. We do remove the wheels to fit the chair into cars, and it is simple to reattach them. |

Question: | can the person in the chair wheel it alone without some guiding it. also does it fit in an apartment through entrance to room door |
Answer: | Yes, I am a small female with Rheumatoid Arthritis and can easily use this chair alone. I live in a small studio apartment and have no problems getting through doors. It is smaller than most wheelchairs. If you are not a smaller person, this chair may be too small for you. I am 5 feet 4 inches and wear a womans size small and this chair is more than roomy for me. User questions & answers
Question: | Are there any types of extenders available to raise the handles on this wheelchair |
Answer: | No but we looked on Amazon and found a couple different kinds. My husband is 6'2" so the chair gave him a backache. The one we bought used 2 bolts for each to hold them on tightly. Worked grate even through grass at a festival. |
Question: | does it come assembled |
Answer: | Almost completely assembled. I've been "5 star" happy with this. |
Question: | Are wheels secure on wet pavement, will they grip |
Answer: | The wheels are a hard rubber, they can be slick but with weight they should be fine... I would not suggest trying to go up an steep grades by ones self even if it is not raining so you should be okay with it |
Question: | Are armrest height adjustable |
Answer: | Hello, Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately no. The arms are not adjustable in height. |
