User questions & answers
Question: | Can an external battery charger such as pocketjuice be attached to extend the battery life while using the flir one pro |
Answer: | Ha! Funny you should ask this. I had the same question and submitted it to FLIR tech support. I got back the answer that you could. But my question was, would doing it harm the device? My second question never received an answer. I have verified that yes, the FLIR will charge from pocketjuice and can be used at the same time. Whether or not it diminishes the onboard battery's life I cannot say. I am inclined to say no, it shouldn't harm it. There is an app that uses the camera as a baby monitor. I cannot see how that would be feasible without having the camera on an external power source. So the answer is yes, if you are using the camera while plugged into a external charger, it will extend the use time. I cannot 100% guarantee that it is not harmful but think not. |

Question: | How well does this work for finding shorts on circuit boards |
Answer: | EXTREMELY GOOD. Turn off MSX mode (Multi Spectral Imaging) i.e. make it "pure thermal" mode, (A simple screen tap) and it'll close focus down to a few inches. Not only finding shorts, but various heated or overheated components. It's fantastic for tuning transmitters, as you can watch transistors and even tuning coils and literally tune visually. (Things run cooler when transmitter tuning is properly setup/matched) It's especially helpful for large RF amplifiers with parallel transistors because you can see when they're in balance. Tuning those with a FLIR is like setting dimmer switches on a bank of light bulbs. (Except the dimmers, are of course, tuning capacitors and coils) |

Question: | I am located in Panama, can you ship this product outside the United States |
Answer: | All Generation 3 FLIR ONE cameras feature FLIR’s new OneFit™ connector which provides 4mm of adjustment. This 4mm allows for connectivity to a FLIR ONE camera through most protective cases, so you don’t have to choose between thermal vision and safeguarding your device. Otterbox Defender and LifePro protectives cases are the exception; rugged cases like these products require a port extender or adaptor to complete connectivity with your phone. Which adaptor to select will depend on which Generation FLIR ONE you own and your phone’s operating system. |
Question: | Hi, is this the complete kit or just the device itself |
Answer: | The resolution is improved by 4x. Flir one has 80x60 vs. Flir one pro has 160x120 The temperature range is improved: flir one -20 °C – 120 °C vs. Flir one pro -20°C – 400°C. The connector for android is a standard connector for the flir one and a C mount for the Flir one pro. |
Question: | Does the camera have any type of certificate |
Answer: | I can confirm that it works with the Note 8 and the Note 9. As to the S8 or S9 I can neither confirm nor deny whether they are compatible. |
Question: | Can this camera detect the source of water seeping through a wall and concrete floor in a basement |
Answer: | I believe that I know what you are intending to use it for as I am looking at this for the same reason. Crackpots, step aside. Looking at the video that someone took of their hand, I am less enthused about the utility of this particular imaging for use with equines, canines, felines or humines (see what I did there?) as the color palate may not be broad enough to distinguish normal tissue perfusion (which should show cooler, blue & green) from areas with inflammation/infection (which should show red/white). I do not know if the color range can be adjusted. I have seen a thermography done by the imbedded camera in the CAT phones and it is excellent. Much like you would expect to see if done with a specific 'medical' unit. I do not know if the images I was looking at were adjusted for the surface source. Do not know if that is a 'real thing'. or not. I have just begun to do my investigation into this but am specifically looking at this for tissue/animal/equine use, so would be very interested in the actual real experience anyone has had with this application. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How is the distance achieved |
Answer: | Sometimes it can. The camera sees differences in temperature, so if the wall, pipe, and water are all the same temperature it would be difficult to see via thermal imaging. But if the water is considerably colder or hotter you should be able see "into" the wall. Insulation will play a part. I can see all interior studs on exterior walls in my house. I cannot see studs on interior walls as the temperature difference is not evident. I have traced water problems, however. It's a very good camera. |
Question: | Is this fda 510k approved |
Answer: | No it does not just looks for moisture in walls. Save your money. |
Question: | Is it intrinsically safe |
Answer: | This camera only sees changes in temperature on the surface, if the nest emits enough heat that it transfers to the wall then the camera might be able to see the changes in temperature, if not the camera will not work for this application. |
