Copper sheets are flat, thin pieces of copper metal that are used for various applications across different industries. They fall within the categories of copper, metals and alloys, raw materials, and are related to industrial and scientific uses. Here's what you should know about copper sheets:
Material Composition: Copper sheets are typically made from high-quality, pure copper metal. However, there are also copper alloy sheets available that combine copper with other elements like zinc (brass), tin (bronze), or aluminum to enhance specific properties.
Thickness and Dimensions: Copper sheets come in various thicknesses, typically measured in gauges or millimeters. They can range from very thin foil-like sheets to thicker plates. The dimensions and sizes of copper sheets can vary widely to suit different applications.
Properties:
- Conductivity: Copper is an excellent conductor of electricity and heat.As a result, copper sheets are commonly used in electrical and thermal applications.
- Malleability: Copper is highly malleable, allowing it to be easily shaped, bent, and formed into different configurations.
- Corrosion Resistance: Copper exhibits good resistance to corrosion, making it suitable for outdoor and marine applications.
- Ductility: Copper is ductile, meaning it can be drawn into wire and stretched without breaking, which is essential for manufacturing electrical cables and wires.
- Antimicrobial Properties: Copper has natural antimicrobial properties, which make it valuable in applications where hygiene is critical, such as in healthcare settings.
Applications:
- Electrical and Electronics: Copper sheets are widely used in the electrical industry for making conductors, transformers, wiring, and printed circuit boards (PCBs) due to their excellent electrical conductivity.
- Roofing and Architectural: Thin copper sheets, often referred to as copper roofing or copper flashing, are used in roofing and architectural applications for their aesthetic appeal and corrosion resistance.
- Crafts and Artwork: Copper sheets are popular among artists and craftsmen for creating sculptures, jewelry, and decorative pieces.
- Heat Exchangers: Copper sheets are used in the manufacturing of heat exchangers due to their superior thermal conductivity.
- Industrial Machinery: Copper sheets can be incorporated into industrial machinery, particularly where heat dissipation is important.
- Craftsmanship and Decorative Work: Copper sheets are sometimes used in decorative and architectural details, adding a unique, timeless appearance to buildings and furniture.
Finishes: Copper sheets are available in various finishes, including polished, brushed, patinaed, and antique finishes, allowing for diverse design choices.
Availability: Copper sheets are available from metal suppliers, specialty stores, and online retailers. They can be custom cut to specific dimensions as needed.
Maintenance: Copper naturally develops a patina over time, which is a greenish or brownish tarnish. Some people prefer this aged look, while others may choose to maintain the bright copper appearance by using specialized copper cleaning and polishing products.
Copper sheets have a wide range of industrial and artistic applications due to their unique properties and versatility. They are valued for their conductivity, durability, and aesthetic appeal in various industries and artistic endeavors.

User questions & answers
Question: | I have wall tiki torches on a stucco patio, it has caused the stucco directly above to become black. Will this work above the tiki torch |
Answer: | I just received this order. There is only one 12x12 sheet, despite the fact the photo looks like 4. Not sure what the other person answering this was looking at. The description under "Product Info--Technical Details" clearly states 1 sheet. (I admit, however, I did not see this info until just now. I, too, was expecting multiple sheets.) |
Question: | How many sheets of 12x12 sheets are included in this price? The listing isn't clear if it's 1 or 4........looks like |
Answer: | This is 16 ounce copper. It is equivalent to between 24-26 gauge. |
Question: | what is the gauge of copper |
Answer: | 20 gauge is 0.032", and 0.062" is 14 gauge. Note: there are conflicting answers on this item. The seller should give more correct information. Currently is says that the material is Stainless Steel. Usually copper is sold as "ounces per square foot", thus 16 ounce copper weighs 1 pound per square foot. Gauge is common for other sheet metals though. I do copper art and my work can be found at kpcopper.com |
Question: | What gauge is the copper sheet |
Answer: | This includes 5 feet of wire. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you cut these with scissors |
Answer: | No. Would be awfully thin and handle would not hold up. Needs to be atleast twice or more thicker. |
Question: | Is this thick enough to form a spoon out of |
Answer: | Yes. I use it in jewelry also. Heat from a torch can also cause some changes |
Question: | Does this react to patinas? I am using this for jewelry making |
Answer: | Depends on what you mean by "cut." The copper pieces I received were between 0.975 and 1.025 mm thick, and I would assume that other pieces would be similarly thick. If you mean "cut" as in "separate into multiple pieces by using a blade or something else," then no, it will not cut. If you mean "score" or "engrave," then yes, a Cricut with an engraving tip will work brilliantly, and I've done this with my Cricut Maker. Now, that said, I had to use a 3rd party software as Design Center...well...doesn't "like" thick copper (it only works with copper that's 40 gauge or thinner (0.08 mm, whereas this is again 1.00 mm.) |
Question: | can this be cut on the cricut |
Answer: | Its just copper no coatings i saw |

User questions & answers
Question: | I'm considering buy some for electronic repair. has anyone used this to repair broken traces on pcbs? does it cut cleanly with a sharp x-acto knife |
Answer: | This copper is advertised as being dead soft, it isn't. You will have to heat it to dull red hot to soften it before shaping. |
Question: | can this be used for making jewery? Earrings pendents |
Answer: | Yes it can work but is only 4 inches wide, it would have to be used like shingles in overlapping layers |
Question: | Will this work for birdhouse roofing |
Answer: | Yes it can be easily cut with snips and I would think nailing it would be just fine. There is also wide copper tape on amazon that people use for that exact purpose too. I would think that would be even easier and cheaper 😊 |
Question: | I’m hoping to wrap a raised garden bed with copper to deter slugs. can i cut this with wire snips? would i attach to wood with nails or glue |
Answer: | You could cut them with heavy duty scissors, but I use shears to cut them. I would't even try it with regular scissors. Hope that helps. |

Answer: | It's a 10 foot roll |
Question: | Wondering the length |
Answer: | Call vendor they are very helpful |
Question: | Does copper come in 20” x 5 ft |
Answer: | There is no protective coating on the flashing I purchased. |
Question: | What is the protective coating? Not the peelable one.. Polyurethane |
Answer: | This copper is 99% pure & great for electronics - regarding being able to be cut / manipulated it depends on how sharp the knife & the context - it's thin and got the consistency of about two sheets of tin foil - it's also 38 gauge if that terminology helps - i don't see why it wouldn't work but if you are repairing a PCB then just do the extra research and if this is the right stufff then get it - have a great day :) |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the softness of the sheet? Is it annealed |
Answer: | The product has a "mill finish." It is slightly rough (like the dull side of aluminum foil), and may show some metal grain (like a stainless steel refrigerator). It can be polished to be mirror-like. Thanks. |
Question: | How is the surface of the product? Will is be smooth and mirror like with some fine sandpaper and a polish or is it pretty rough |
Answer: | I made some rings out of it for my girlfriend. I was able to cut it with a sharp pair of scissors and bend it as needed. I tried a smaller ring and it was much harder to bend. It seems to keep its shape. |
Question: | Is this thickness gauge able to be bent and formed to stay curved |
Answer: | It can be used as a termite shield, but pre-formed galvanized flashing would be better choice, more cost effective, and prevent corrosion. If copper is used, be sure keep it away from galvanized anchor bolts, as copper and zinc will react over time |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is it rust proof |
Answer: | I believe the copper color is really a coloring, not actual copper. If you heat it, the copper color burns away and the aluminum shows through. |
Question: | Can you solder a copper wire to the copper colored side |
Answer: | About 1/2" -- it is rolled on itself without a cardboard center |
Question: | what is the core size |
Answer: | It's bright shiny aluminum on one side, and has a copper-colored coating on the other side. There is no real copper, but the coppery side looks good, as in being a passable imitation, and won't tarnish over time like real copper. |
Question: | It's listed as both aluminum foil and a copper roll.. is it aluminum or copper |
Answer: | I have never worked with Liver of Sulphur...I enamel with it |

Question: | I need copper that measures 16” x 32”. do you offer a measurement close to that? price and availability? thank you |
Answer: | You can cut it with tin snips |
Question: | Can you cut it with scissors |
Answer: | I use these copper sheets for jewelry an crafts. Etching is done through chemicals so I do not hand scribe them. I think they would be difficult for a child to use as the copper is fairly hard and takes pressure to scribe. However, I do use a hammer and punch tools to make designs. I use a heavy hammer to make the punch marks but a lighter hammer might work. I hope this helps! |
Question: | Could a child etch on these |
Answer: | 110 Copper is 99.9% pure copper with an electrical conductivity rating of 100+ % IACS. Conductivity, corrosion resistance, and ductility makes 110 Copper very versatile over a broad range of applications. 110 Copper is anneal resistant, and is usually supplied in the 1/8H (hard) or 1/4H condition. |
Question: | Is this 100% pure copper |
Answer: | Mine is used outside and has not rusted at all but unfortunately does loose it's cooper coloring in a very short time. Material itself holds up very well. |
