Question:	can this be for adults too? also how long is the cord
Answer:	It's the same length as any other standard stethoscope, though I wouldn't really suggest buying this for exclusive use on adults. Occasionally I'm sure it will be fine, but you simply don't hear as well because of the size difference. That being said, I wouldn't but this stethoscope again. Take the plunge and buy a littman, this stethoscope was a waste of money and was garbage within 6months. Good luck to you.

Answer:	I'm sorry I'm getting to this so later. American Diagnostics Corporation makes the product but my understanding is that different components are subcontracted out to companies around the world and then assembly takes place in New York. Therefore, I would guess that the scope is not entirely made in the US.

Answer:	Thank you for your question. Although the 618 Adimals is optimized for pediatric patients it will work on newborns as well.

Answer:	The Adscope 618 is a professional stethoscope size optimized for pediatric patient applications. Its patient friendly Adimals design can help put the smallest patients at ease during the physical exam. Each Adscope is benched on a test fixture to ensure a reliable acoustic pathway. The Adscope 618, like many of our Adscopes employs AFD (Adjustable Frequency Design) technology. Altering the pressure applied to the chestpiece “tunes” the frequency – light pressure for lower frequencies, firmer pressure for higher frequencies. Perfecting the technique takes a bit of practice. The most common cause of reduced acoustic performance is poor seal at the ears. To ensure optimal performance, please note the following: Orient the headset with the eartips pointing FORWARD towards the bridge of the nose. (many first -time users wear the headset backward which greatly impedes acoustic transmission to the inner ear) Ensure you are using optimally sized eartips. The scope comes with two sizes. Small are mounted on the scope. A larger pair are also included. The eartips should be snug but comfortable. Spring tension: Is preset for the “average consumer” but you may need to increase or decrease tension to ensure a snug aural fit. Following these simple techniques should ensure optimal performance of your Adscope 618.

The membrane side (high frequencies) and the funnel side (low frequencies) can be alternated by turning the stethoscope head. The stethoscope head needs to be firmly placed on the skin while listening. When measuring arterial blood pressure, the stethoscope head can be placed under the blood-pressure cuff with the membrane facing down. You can check which side is active by locating the open/closed funnel opening, or by touching the membrane with your finger while the headphones are in your ears.

The stethoscope is made of high-quality material

If you are not satisfied with the pressure of the stethoscope on your ears, follow these rules:

- If the pressure is too low, take the headphones and push them together while they are not being worn.

- If the pressure is too high, take and headphones and pull them away from each other while they are not being worn.

Be careful not to overextend in either direction.

How to fit earbuds for a comfortable fit

The headphones are manufactured to be anatomically correct, but the contact pressure of the earbuds can be chosen individually. Earbuds are made of very soft material and rotate freely. This ensures ideal noise cancelling and prevents the generation of external noises.

Answer:	I can hear my own heartbeat with this scope, so I think you'd likely be able to hear a fetal heartbeat if you get the head of the scope placed at the recommended point on your abdomen. HOWEVER, I noticed when you rotate the head of the scope around the shaft on which it's mounted, you are supposed to hear a click when you've gone from the flat side to the bell side as the active side., and I can rotate it 360 degrees without hearing a click. I suspect this is a quality control problem with this brand. You might look at a pediatric stethoscope for a fetal heartbeat.

Answer:	I was given a Littmann as a gift (I don't know which model it was), and I never cared for it much. I absolutely love this ADC. The sound is great and I love having the pediatric option. I would highly recommend this stethoscope.

Answer:	Thank you for your questions. The bell itself is stainless steel as are all of the metal components of the 608. It has a non chill phthalate free bell rim affixed for patient comfort. Both adult and pediatric diaphragms are also formulated from PVC. Our AFD technology allows you to adjust or tune the frequency of the diaphragm by altering pressure on both the pediatric and adult diaphragms. Lighter pressure enhances the lower frequency ranges while firmer pressure boosts the higher frequencies The smaller pediatric diaphragm is properly sized for smaller patients. The pediatric diaphragm's smaller size by its very nature will tend to enhance slightly higher frequencies. We've optimized our scopes for the frequency ranges under 500hz where most body sounds occur. If you haven't used a scope with AFD, it will take some practice but once mastered will enhance the ability to conduct a thorough physical exam. I hope this answers your questions.

Answer:	Hi Brandy, it hard to tell if the chest piece is plastic on this Littmann model. If it is plastic, it is a very hard type. It's possible it could be cast aluminum. I've had no problems with it at all. I'm in the last semester of Nursing school and I use it a lot. It's light-weight and comfortable.
