Answer:	They are designed to be used on all types of floors, but don't put a lot of weight on them, it may mark the floor.

Answer:	I am 220 lbs. My chair pivots so I made a 30 inch disk of 3/4 inch plywood. I had six smaller wheels so the chair wouldn't tip. They broke because when you lean forward you put a lot of weight on one wheel. These wheels are well made and pretty with the brass. I have had 6 of them under my recliner for 3 months with no sign of failure.
