Answer:	Hi, I think you should be able to test your Spring water with it. It's not as accruate as a lab test. We used it to test tthhe water and make sure it was ok for our livestock.
Question:	What are the indicators/results to suggest the well water is : (1) safe to drink, (2) safe to shower in/wash hands, (3) safe on washing clothes
Answer:	We followed all the instructions and test indicators with ease of instructions. I don't remember what all the test were but it covered most of what was the most important of chemicals and bacteria. All the test came back safe for 0 nitrates, bacteria harmful to drink, etc. I would feel safe to shower/wash hands and to wash clothes in. We only used it to drink and wash our hands as it was put up at a lake. I would recommend that water not be stored and changed daily as we left the test water alone for 4 days further than it asked for and it did grow organisms as the chlorine is not there to kill them. However, drinking it fresh daily we never became sick and the water was perfect!! I am going to send a sample off to the state level for curiosity but I feel safe drinking what we draw from the well. I hope this helps.

Answer:	Most of the tests require single test strips. pH, hardness and alkalinity are on a single test strip.
Question:	Turned yellow & horrible disgusting smell coming from bottle that was tightly screwed
Answer:	Correction! IF you kept the bottle for LONGER than 48 hours it will eventually turn yellow. IF the bottle remained purple up to 48 hours, the water is not contaminated. A yellow color, along with odor IS possible if you keep the jar LONGER than 48 hours. This is caused by the break-down of the nutrients in the jar. It does not indicate coliform if you keep the bottle longer than 48 hours.
Question:	Does this test for salmonela? Our well may be fouled after a recent flood
Answer:	No. The bacteria test only detects coliform bacteria. Only a lab can test for Salmonella.

Answer:	The lead test kit is a pass/fail type of test. The U.S EPA has a set a 15 part per billion (ppb) limit for municipal water providers. This test shows if the lead level in the water is above or below the 15 ppb level.

Answer:	The EPA set a threshold level of 15 parts per billion (ppb) for municipal water treatment companies. If 10% of the water samples contain over 15 ppb, the treatment company has to take action to remove the lead. No lead is considered safe to consume. The problem is lead can enter the water system at your home through pipes, solder and fixtures. There are no regulations for controlling lead on your private property.

Question:	Do you have to mail in something to get the results
Answer:	The kit contains everything needed to perform the tests at home.
Question:	Can this be used to detect bacteria in beverages other than water? Like milk or beer
Answer:	This test method is designed for water. Beer will be acidic and throw off the test. Milk will rot in the jar.
Question:	What is the shelf-life of this kit
Answer:	Three years. The expiration date is on the lid.
Question:	How does this bacteria test work
Answer:	The bottle contains a special nutrient blend. When a water sample if added, the nutrients dissolve, turning the water purple/magenta. If coliform bacteria are in the water, they’ll consume the nutrients. When this happens, the water in the bottle turns bright yellow within 48 hours of starting the test.

CRYSTAL CLEAR RESULTS IN 48 HOURS

Just pour some of your water into the jar, shake for 20 seconds, then leave at room temperature for 48 hours. If there’s bacteria in your water, it will eat up the nutrients in the jar, turning the water a bright yellow color.

Although it’s not possible to test for E. coli separately, this test will still show you if it’s present. A positive test result means your water contains any coliform bacteria, which may include E. coli.
