Answer: Hello – this is Alyssa, I work as a Customer Specialist for Atrix. The VACBP1 does not come with an extension cord. Atrix manufactures the Atrix backpack cord (pigtail) a certain length for two reasons: 1) users of this product range from professional cleaners to homeowners, and by manufacturing the cord as a pigtail it allows the operator to choose which size extension cord best suits their application; and 2) if the extension cord is damaged, it then offers the operator a quick fix - simply by replacing the extension cord, not the entire vacuum. Answer: The cord on the unit is about 12 inches long. This way you can add any length of extension cord to meet your needs. I added a 50' cord and I can reach any in my house.

Answer: Mine came with a 50-foot, orange extension cord that is removable if you prefer a shorter cord. It is NOT attached to the vacuum innards. That cord is only about 8 to 12 inches long. The cord is held together with a rubber loop connector that prevents it from pulling apart. I do not know what kind of cubic foot per minute (CFM) the vacuum produces, but it's adequate for my wood floors. The Hoover motor is a 120-volt, 60 HZ, 8.5 amp motor. If my high school physics memory is correct, volts X amps equals watts, so it's a 1,020 watt motor. While vacuuming, I also use an FM radio/MP3 Player noise-canceling headset I got for Christmas last year. It came from Home Depot for $29. It works fine and protects my hearing. I use it when blowing leaves, power spraying, operating my table and miter saws, etc. Hope this helps.

Answer: The lid stays open only by foot pressure on the bottom pedal. It is spring loaded so it will close the moment you release the foot pedal. You will have to prop it open as the first reviewer said.

Answer: I can't say for sure, but I am a small woman 76 years old, weigh 105 pounds and I clean upstairs and downstairs carrying this vacum cleaner in a couple hours and it doesn't feel heavy to me, nor do I have any aches and pains from vacuuming. This vacuum cleaner is powerful and so wonderful.

Answer: I'd suspect that ALL of the answers are incorrect except "I don't know". Vacuums are rated in amps. From the Hoover commercial website: 7.4 amps. Way less than 2.2HP...
Question: Does this lay flat enough to vacuum under a large bed with just a few inches of clearance
Answer: Yes...it's flat enough to do under the bed. It's even flat enough to go under my sectional couch and oversized chair and ottoman. Great vacuum...plenty of power.

Question: How well does the vacuum work in picking up mold spores
Answer: I ordered the 23 gallon size when I ordered the trash cans. They are perfect but don't have the ties on top, but when you take them out there's plenty of top left to just tie the bag itself. It was a case of several rolls so will last for years since are only used when hunters are at the lodge. I'm considering getting one for my kitchen when I use up all the 13 gallon bags I have on hand.

Answer: The units we purchased are used for trash. They are water tight and pretty well built but if you need to move them and they are full to the top with water it is going to be easy to get spilled so I would be careful to only fill them 1/2 to 3/4 full. Hope this helps you.

Atrix manufactures the Atrix backpack cord (pigtail) a certain length for two reasons: 1) users of this product range from professional cleaners to homeowners, and by manufacturing the cord as a pigtail it allows the operator to choose which size extension cord best suits their application; and 2) if the extension cord is damaged, it then offers the operator a quick fix - simply by replacing the extension cord, not the entire vacuum.
