| Answer: | I haven't used this model for sanding drywall (yet), but it's more powerful than my previous model, which did just fine. It depends also on how good your dust collector is on your sander. There is a filter for the vent which should contain most of the collected dust and keep it from blowing out the vent port. |

| Answer: | I believe this should qualify by the EPA's RRP standards (abatement may be a different story, but probably OK for that too). I'm buying two for RRP work. I would believe that because they've labeled it as EPA certified you would have a good defense if there was an action against your company. The fact is that buying a $1000 vac to be in compliance does not help the renovators most likely to be involved with low-cost projects containing lead, so if you're willfully trying to comply with EPA, you're doing the right thing IMHO. As I understand it the true HEPA Vac must be qualified to N100 standards (99.7% larger than .3 Microns) Not enough is made of the contractors health and safety (or eye protection) so you are probably best off going with an inexpensive vacuum and spend money on full face respirators which will allow you to work longer and safer. |

| Answer: | the hepa filter is not 5 gals. in volume. but none the less, this 8 gals. vac does not hold 8 gals. of debris. the bag wraps part way around the hepa and down to the floor. it can never even inflate completely. maybe at best it collects 2 gals of debris. BUT, this is a special purpose vac, not a shop vac. it cost more. the bags are outrageously expensive and it does not truly hold much. that said, i think it meets its purpose: dust free vacuuming suitable for lead abatement. i don't clean up haz mat, but i want a dust free vac. |

| Answer: | This vacuum is great on hard surfaces for pet hair. If the pet hair is typically hard to vacuum up because it is on cloth or carpet, not so great. It works very good to pick up loose crumbs on carpet, though. I have two cats that shed and I wholeheartedly recommend, instead, the Eureka EasyClean 71B corded handheld vacuum for pet hair on furniture. It is the only vacuum that will pick up cat hair on my velour couches because of the strong suction and rotating brushes. It is extremely important to clean the filter to keep the suction strong on both of these handheld vacuums. The filter on this Black and Decker CHV1410L is underneath the green filter cover that twists off. The easiest and most effective way to clean the filters for me is to use a shop vac on them. Of course, any vacuum with a hose attachment would work. |

| Answer: | It's like an electric sucking dust pan, except you can move it around the house so like I move it to the living room and plug it in and sweep and let it suck up, then move to he next room and do the same. It is strong enough to suck up dog hair as we have 4 dogs and a cat but you have to get it pretty close because that suction is strong. Wish it had a bigger collection bin inside so I didn't have to empty it so often. I also wish it would stay on. It says it should but I haven't been able to get that to work it always shuts off. I bought mine off my parents as they no longer needed it. So I don't have the book ( wonder if I can get that online somewhere) and find out why mine works like it does but I love it and keeps me from wrecking my back with a dust pan. |

| Answer: | Mine is six feet and the cord is a pretty heavy duty cord, i wouldn't be afraid to use a drop cord as long as it has the safety prong all so. And you can also use a power strip that will trip if something goes wrong. I don't worry to much i don't leave mine on all the time. You can leave it on all the time or turn it on just while your using it. |

| Answer: | I have purchased both the pro and home versions (the pet pro). Personally we like the home version better. The home one actives faster and sucks up the debris much better then the other one. We are considering ordering another home version for another part of the house. We have cats and no matter which you decide on they are awesome. They are easy to clean, and the pet hair, litter kicked out of the liter box is gone fast, and pet food gone off the floor. Since we have a couple of cats who always pull the food out of the dishes this has been a plus for cleanup. I did order extra filters so when one is drying after washing my eye-vac is still in use. |

| Answer: | Mine came with a 50-foot, orange extension cord that is removable if you prefer a shorter cord. It is NOT attached to the vacuum innards. That cord is only about 8 to 12 inches long. The cord is held together with a rubber loop connector that prevents it from pulling apart. I do not know what kind of cubic foot per minute (CFM) the vacuum produces, but it's adequate for my wood floors. The Hoover motor is a 120-volt, 60 HZ, 8.5 amp motor. If my high school physics memory is correct, volts X amps equals watts, so it's a 1,020 watt motor. While vacuuming, I also use an FM radio/MP3 Player noise-canceling headset I got for Christmas last year. It came from Home Depot for $29. It works fine and protects my hearing. I use it when blowing leaves, power spraying, operating my table and miter saws, etc. Hope this helps. |
