It is hard for beginners to control the heat shrink temperature when first to try these heat shrink wire connectors. Sometime, exorbitant temperature make the wrap tube melt but the solder ring still not melt, which result in failing to connect the wire. Step 1

Thread the connector to one of the wires and then twist the two conductor together.

Tips: Please make sure the end of the wire that you strip out is nice and clean (shiny).

Move the connector to the middle of the conductor.

Tips: Make sure you strip out the end of the wire long enough for them to overlap one another and stay in the area of the solder sleeve.

Step 3

Answer:	I don’t know the exact rating but it is made for low-voltage like 12 V or 24 V connections. Not 120 V use.

Answer:	I would guess that they do not have enough solder, in the joiner, to be effective. Or there is not much call for that gauge wire, they can not be all things to all people. For that, strip the wires, place some shrink tubing on one of the wires, solder, let it cool, slide the shrink tube over, shrink it. Some times, when there is sufficient wire length, I place two different size shrink tube,. shrinking the smaller one first, letting it cool. The slide the larger one over the other.
