Question:	Have a mac with catalina 10.15.4 the disc will not load, says not compatible. software from the website will not open. any suggestions
Answer:	I'm using Mojave (10.14.6). No problems. You don't need to download any drivers or software. By plugging the device into your USB port, it loads its own drivers. Then, with your input ready to go, you open Quicktime, do a "New Movie Recording" and then on the little dropdown next to the record button within the quicktime window, select "AV TO USB 2.0" for the Camera and "USB 2.0 MIC" for Audio. Hit record and roll the tape (or whatever).

Moreover, I have been unable to remove ArcSoft ShowBiz software from my Windows 10 computer. The normal windows process for uninstalling an app did not work, even in safe mode. I see no uninstaller with the software (which is quite old), so I don't know what I'm going to do.

Question:	for some reason i was unable to burn to dvd after processing a vhs tape. there is a mpg output file. how do i get vidbox to burn that mpg file to dvd
Answer:	Directly after recording a file, it should move to the Step 4 screen which will have the Burn DVD option. Clicking that option should allow burning to disc. If the program fails to burn successfully, you should be able to try again as long as you do not close the program.
Question:	I want to convert old vhs tapes to dvd's my old vcr has only white and yellow cable connections.(no red) will this work on my vcr
Answer:	As has been explained, your machine is apparently so old it only recorded monaural sound. That's why just one audio cable coming out. That's okay, but you might have to finagle to get sound on both channels of your digital recording. Sometimes, if you put just one audio source into the left input of the recorder, it will default to put that same audio on both left and right, so when you play it back on your stereo TV you don't just hear sound from one side of the room. If it does not work that way, you can just get an adapter, one plug in and two plugs out, and thus fill up both audio channels. Super simple and cheap and buy it anywhere, at any stereo shop, or here on Amazon no doubt.

Answer:	you don't need it for mini dv, they are already digital. You just need to find the correct wire to connect it to your PC and windows will make the video. for my mini dv I needed a fire wire cable, and a slightly older pc that had a firewire jack.

Answer:	You cant really edit the video with this software. This does a pretty good job converting your 8mm tape to digital files. You install the software, plug the component plugs from your 8mm camera/player to the box. Another cable coming out of the box plugs into your laptop via usb. After that, you startup the software follow the simple prompts until you get to a record screen. Hit play on your camera/player and when the video comes up on your computer screen click the record button. This will create an mpeg video file. Once you create the mpeg video file you can always edit your video files in another video editing application.Once you are done editing your video file you can always burn it to a DVD.

Question:	The software requires a product key not included in the package- advise
Answer:	As I remember, it was printed on back of the CD package. This is a mini CD so maybe you did not see it. Also, I see there was another answer saying the output quality was low. I do not find that to be the case. I play my converted 8mm videos on a 55" screen and I think they look as good as the original tapes.

Answer:	Under "system requirements" in the book that comes with it, it just says Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, and 10. There is no mention if it works or doesn't work with Mac.

Answer:	I've done this with numerous devices and it works fine (as long as if the connectors fit of coarse). Only problem would be framerate and resolution. I believe framerate is locked in at 30 fps and resolution has 3 options: 720*480 352*480 352*240. This is great if you're playing on an older console like the ps1 or even ps2 (keep in mind that you're working with a 4:3 aspect ratio). Video editing can fix this issue though. Also, did notice video/audio sync issues with the 720*480 resolution option. Fortunately, the sync issue was consistant so video editing allowed me to fix that. FINAL VERDICT: If you are looking for hd 60fps video recording, this is not the device for you. However, if you're looking for the cheapest way to capture decent gameplay footage, this device should do the trick. Hope this was helpful. (Also, if you can tell me the exact console you are wanting to capture with this, I might be able to confirm that it works)

Answer:	Regarding the user who said it did not pass audio, I found a similar issue with a similar Empia USB capture device. Here's the thing: You have to dig into the *video* input capture settings, where you'll find a Mute checkbox, which defaults to enabled. You'll want to uncheck that, then audio capture will work. Audio capture via PulseAudio may also be crackly and broken, in which case, it's advised to use pavucontrol to disable PulseAudio for the capture device, and use ALSA directly.

Answer:	Absolutely. I am running Catalina 10.15.5 and Audacity 2.4.1 (64-bit). All good. The beauty of this device is that it is NOT dependent on what software you are running or even what platform. You could be Mac, Windows, Linux - as long as they support the USB standard. Audacity will recognize this device as a "USB PnP Audio Device". Be sure to plug this thing in BEFORE you start Audacity so the software can scan for input sources. Select the device as the input and record from anything that has either RCA audio out (red white) or a 3.5mm jack. Turn your Mac volume to "max" because the audio volume will be very low. I ran mine thru a mixer to boost the volume AND let monitor what I am recording on the mixer's headphone out jack.
Question:	Two questions : 1) what is the s/n ratio on the input? 2) can the input level be digitally controlled
Answer:	s/n ratio would be hard to determine since the source (Mac headphone jack out) is coming from a digital source, the turned into analog audio, then re-digitized at the sampling rate you select in Audacity (I use 192 KHz). Sheesh! I'll put it this way - I am 74 years old and the stuff I record sounds fine 😁. The input level CAN NOT be controlled. I have mixer and I use it for that, and to provide a monitor output so I can hear what I'm recording.

I must say it's one of the most illogically comical questions that I've ever read. Let me explain. It's like asking if using jet fuel will improve the grass cutting performance of a lawnmower. Obviously, it won't. You just need a more efficient lawnmower. The DAC + preamp + plus headphone amp merely will make the headphones louder but NOT make them sound better. In fact, most low-cost headphones (in the $10 - $30 range) typically suffer from sibilance (hiss), muffled bass, tinny highs, too dominant mid-range, and distortion at higher volumes due to using low-quality components. Therefore, it's highly probable that the AudioQuest DragonFly will make cheap headphones sound exponentially worse. As the old saying goes: "You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear."
