12 best 3 pole contactors
A 3-pole contactor is an electrical switching device used in industrial and commercial applications to control the flow of electric current to three separate electrical circuits. Here are key points about 3-pole contactors:
Purpose: 3-pole contactors are primarily used to control the operation of electric motors, machines, and other electrical equipment. They allow for the remote or automatic switching of power to these devices.
Pole Configuration: The "3-pole" designation refers to the number of electrical poles within the contactor. Each pole consists of a set of contacts, typically one normally open (NO) contact and one normally closed (NC) contact. The contacts are designed to open or close when the contactor is energized or de-energized.
Switching Capacity: Contactors are rated based on their switching capacity, which is the maximum current and voltage they can handle. 3-pole contactors are capable of handling three separate circuits, making them suitable for three-phase electrical systems commonly found in industrial applications.
Coil Voltage: Contactors are controlled by an electromagnetic coil. The coil voltage determines how the contactor is activated. Common coil voltages include 120VAC, 240VAC, and 24VDC, among others. When voltage is applied to the coil, it generates a magnetic field that pulls the contacts together, closing the circuit.
Auxiliary Contacts: Some 3-pole contactors come equipped with auxiliary contacts that are used for auxiliary control or signaling purposes. These contacts may be NO or NC and provide additional functionality, such as indicating the status of the contactor or controlling other devices in the circuit.
Thermal Overload Protection: Many contactors also feature built-in thermal overload protection. This protection mechanism is designed to trip and disconnect power if the connected motor or load exceeds its rated current for an extended period, preventing overheating and damage.
Mounting: Contactors can be DIN rail-mounted or panel-mounted, depending on the specific application and installation requirements.
Applications: 3-pole contactors are widely used in various industrial sectors, including manufacturing, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), water treatment, and more. They play a crucial role in controlling motors, pumps, compressors, and other electrical machinery.
Safety: Contactors are essential for safe and reliable electrical control, as they allow for remote operation and disconnection of electrical circuits, reducing the need for manual intervention and minimizing the risk of electrical accidents.
In summary, 3-pole contactors are electrical switching devices used in industrial and commercial settings to control the flow of electricity to three separate circuits, typically in three-phase systems. They are a fundamental component of electrical control systems, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of motors and machinery.

User questions & answers
Question: | Do you have any manufacturer's cut sheets saying it will work on 60 Hz |
Answer: | packaging on inside says A=40 B=50/60 C=4.5....my Chinese being not so good, i like the B for Hz. also on outside of box it says 50, 60, 50/60. I'm good with it |
Question: | The coil says 50hz. Will it work on 60hz |
Answer: | Yes, it works fine on 60hz |
Question: | can you supply a 240vcoil version, normally open as well |
Answer: | Please search ASIN: B01KJI9AZ8 to get the 220V coil version normally open contactor |
Question: | Do you have a schematic for this contactor |
Answer: | I am sorry I don't have a schematic. I would search on youtube, how a contactor works. I am NOT an electrician. You MUST use caution when working with electricity. This contactor is NO which means normally open. That means there is no continuity between L1,L2,L3 and T1,T2,T3. The coil on the contractor needs 110 volts to engage. If you connect 110 volts, the hot wire normally colored black to A1, the neutral wire normally colored white to A2 the contactor will close and you will have continuity between L1 and T1,L2 and T2, L3and T3. If you are not comfortable working with electricity, PLEASE hire an electrician. Proceed at your own risk. |
