If you stack them on their side the bottom support helps the bin keep its shape but once you put things inside they would start to sag on the side (which would be the bottom if you stacked them that way).

Answer:	I purchased the set of 4 "Rubbermaid Easy Release Ice Cube Tray white" here on Amazon. I also purchased this ice cube bin which has a number of 2862. and the size written on the label is 12.1"x5.5"x6.12". The imprinted number on the bottom of the bin is 2862 and 14. Just for further information, I do have a Rubbermaid ice bin on hand that I must've bought years ago and it is 2862 and 16 imprinted on the bottom. They appear to be the same bin. and the ice cube trays do not fit on either one of the tops at all.

Answer:	OA length is approx. 8-1/2"; the "bowl" is approx. 5-1/2" long and also 2" deep at the back of the scoop. I find it perfect for daily use, such as adding four or five ice cubes to a drink or similar uses. I like the size, and the black rubber over-molding that covers the handle and cups/supports the bowl provides a nice grip. Answer:	I didn't have an open box of rice, but the scoop held just a little over one cup of small dried beans. The scoop itself measures 8 1/2 inches from end of handle to tip of scoop. It is 3 1/4 inches at its greatest width. If your bin can hold this size of scoop, I think you would be very happy with it. I use it for my ice cube bin and it works very well. I am pleased with it. Answer:	You can probably use it partly expanded but not sure if the lid would stay on that way. It is not sturdy at all, I don't use the lid on mine.
