How are you moving it across the cutter with any precision? You normally need an indexer and a mill table, or possibly a mill/drill with a moving table. I have good results with this set but I use a Bridgeport and an indexer. |

Answer: | Jerry, the way I understand this kit is the arbor shank cutter holder is for 22mm cutters. The holder is threaded at 7/16 inches that holds the cutters on the shank. The cutters are mm but you can calculate for inches depending on the wheel diameter you are making and the number of teeth needed. A good reference site is www.helicron.net/workshop/gearcutting/involute-gears, this will explain how to calculate your needs in inches or mm. Hope this helps, |

Answer: | 1 per millimeter (mm). These cutters are metric cutters. The DP of cutters used to cut metric gears is expressed in "Modules". On metric gears the pitch circle diameter is expressed in millimeters instead of inches. Hence, the module is: the pitch diameter in mm divided by the number of teeth in the gear. this being said, if this module 1 value was expressed in standard terms it would have a DP of 25.4. This is because there are 25.4 mm in 1 inch. |
