12 best 3d printer nozzle material
3D printer nozzle material plays a crucial role in the 3D printing process, impacting print quality, durability, and compatibility with different filament materials. Nozzles are responsible for extruding and depositing the molten filament onto the print bed layer by layer. The choice of nozzle material depends on the specific requirements of the 3D printing job. Here's what you need to know about 3D printer nozzle materials:
Brass Nozzles: Brass nozzles are among the most common and affordable options. They have good thermal conductivity, which helps in consistent extrusion of a wide range of filament materials, including PLA, ABS, and PETG. However, brass nozzles may wear out faster when printing with abrasive filaments like carbon fiber-reinforced materials.
Stainless Steel Nozzles: Stainless steel nozzles are more durable than brass nozzles and are suitable for abrasive filament materials. They resist wear and corrosion, making them a preferred choice for long-term use with specialty filaments.
Hardened Steel Nozzles: Hardened steel nozzles are specifically designed for printing with abrasive filaments such as carbon fiber or metal-infused materials. They are extremely durable and can withstand the abrasive properties of these filaments without wearing out quickly.
Ruby Nozzles: Ruby nozzles are a premium option known for their exceptional wear resistance. They feature a ruby gemstone at the tip, which is highly resistant to abrasive filaments. These nozzles are ideal for continuous and high-stress 3D printing applications.
Copper Nozzles: Copper nozzles have good thermal conductivity but are not as commonly used as brass nozzles. They can be suitable for specific applications but may require more frequent replacement due to wear.
Other Specialty Materials: In addition to the above materials, there are various specialty nozzle materials available, including tungsten and ceramic. Tungsten nozzles offer excellent thermal conductivity and wear resistance, while ceramic nozzles are used for high-temperature 3D printing applications.
When selecting a 3D printer nozzle material, consider the following factors:
Filament Compatibility: Ensure that the nozzle material is compatible with the type of filament you plan to use. Some materials are more prone to clogging or wearing out nozzles, so choose accordingly.
Print Temperature: Different nozzle materials have varying temperature tolerances. Make sure the selected nozzle can handle the temperatures required for your 3D printing project.
Abrasion Resistance: If you plan to print with abrasive filaments, opt for hardened steel or ruby nozzles to prolong nozzle life.
Print Precision: Nozzle diameter also affects print precision. Smaller nozzle diameters are better for detailed prints, while larger diameters are faster but may sacrifice detail.
In summary, the choice of 3D printer nozzle material is essential to achieve the desired print quality and durability for your specific 3D printing project. Consider the filament type, print temperature, and abrasion resistance when selecting the most suitable nozzle material for your needs.

User questions & answers
Question: | Do these fit an Ender 5 Plus |
Answer: | They should. They fit my Ender 5. |
Question: | How often does one go through these nozzles? How can I tell if I need replacement |
Answer: | I’ve been on the first nozzle of the set for about 3-4 months now. Keep bed level so it doesn’t drag across bed, avoid abrasive filaments and they’ll last for quite some time. Also I use an Oiler on my filament to help prevent clogs. I’m about to change this one out but only to use the smaller nozzle for higher detailed mini prints. |
Question: | Do these work with cr-10s pro |
Answer: | No I do not think so. I use these on my CR10S. I have a CR10Max and it has the same extruder as the Pro. The thread size is different between the Pro/Max to the CR10. I almost cross threaded mine before I realized. |
Question: | Does this product work on the Ender |
Answer: | Yes these work for the ender 3 |

User questions & answers
Question: | Are these Tungsten Carbide, or just Tungsten |
Answer: | I just bought this set of filament. Each roll is 500g. That's just a little over 1 pound each. In total you are getting around 3.3 lbs. |
Question: | How much should i increase/decrease the print temperature when i print with this tungsten alloy nozzle compared to the brass nozzle |
Answer: | They REALLY should. I've no idea why they think this is a good business model. There are several colors I would like to buy from them, but have no need for the other colors in the bundle, so I'm not purchasing any. I did order ONE set that I badly needed a color of, but will probably be the ONLY time I'll do that. Seriously, they could have sold easily 6-12kg in rolls to me by now - and more in the future - if they'd simply let me pick the color I want rather than force 2 more down my throat that I don't need. Instead, they've sold me 1.5kg and I likely won't be buying any more. VERY bad business model. |
Question: | Will you ever sell these as single nozzles, or only in a 3-pack of different sizes |
Answer: | dear customer, Thanks so much for you like our gold silk pla filament; we will suggest our factory to offer 1kg spool 3 bundle soon; do you interested? Thanks Waiting for your kindly reply Mike |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this pair of scissors be put in dishwaher |
Answer: | Yes the ender 3 uses the same hotend as the ender 2 and the cr10 etc. So you will be good to go! |
Question: | is it sharp |
Answer: | I have heated one up and extruded to test but haven't printed yet. No problem |
Question: | Does your scissors rust after use for a time |
Answer: | I don’t have any experience with that model of printer but I am pretty sure that nozzles come in pretty much one size fits all. The really big difference that is unnoticeable from the picture is the size of filament. This nozzle works well with 1.75 mm. If yours takes a different size filament it likely won’t work. I would also compare the nozzle in your printer to the picture and if it looks the same then it probably is. |
Question: | what is the inner diameter of the nozzle bore (2mm, 1.5mm |
Answer: | It has the standard threaded heat block, which these nozzles are compatible with. As a word of caution, I had to turn up my hotend temperature by 40 degrees- stainless steel conducts heat poorly compared to brass. Once you get the settings down, they produce beautiful prints. |
