Answer:

3M's own website lists the entire line of Stikit Gold as Dry sandpaper but if water is used sparingly you can use it as semi-wet paper. I do agree with the gentleman who states that this is really too coarse to be using for a wet sanding stage. 400 then 600 and 1000 or 1500 to finish is a better choice. We utilize 3000 grit quite often too. 3M makes several different wet/dry sandpaper lines including sheets and their very good DA line called Trizact. We use a lot of Trizact both in the 3" and 6" sizes. Usually 1500 and 3000 grit like this -> 3M 02088 Trizact Hookit 6" P1500 Grit Clear Coat Sanding Disc

Answer:	They are actually VERY good on wood. Much faster than most sanders. You have to have a steady hand though.

Answer:	Yes, but if you have a large area to do the discs will get gunked up with paint. Might want to use paint remover and a metal scraper.

Answer:	The hole is 7/8''. If your grinder has 5/8'' threads it should have a 7/8'' shoulder . If you have 1/4 threads it will have a 5/8'' shoulder. The hole in the disc is not threaded.

Answer:	Depending on how much rust you want remove, a flap disk will do it but, 40grit ,80 grit will also leave deep scratches Mark's on metal. Try a wire wheel 4 inch or smaller dependent on the size of the material. It's just as fast and won't leave Mark's. Disks are better for removing material.
