Question:	Is this a epa and osha certified hepa vacuum for removing things such as lead paint
Answer:	I believe this should qualify by the EPA's RRP standards (abatement may be a different story, but probably OK for that too). I'm buying two for RRP work. I would believe that because they've labeled it as EPA certified you would have a good defense if there was an action against your company. The fact is that buying a $1000 vac to be in compliance does not help the renovators most likely to be involved with low-cost projects containing lead, so if you're willfully trying to comply with EPA, you're doing the right thing IMHO. As I understand it the true HEPA Vac must be qualified to N100 standards (99.7% larger than .3 Microns) Not enough is made of the contractors health and safety (or eye protection) so you are probably best off going with an inexpensive vacuum and spend money on full face respirators which will allow you to work longer and safer.
Question:	What is the effective capacity of the dust bag? One reviewer said the HEPA filter is 5 gallons, which would only leave 3 gal for the dust bag
Answer:	the hepa filter is not 5 gals. in volume. but none the less, this 8 gals. vac does not hold 8 gals. of debris. the bag wraps part way around the hepa and down to the floor. it can never even inflate completely. maybe at best it collects 2 gals of debris. BUT, this is a special purpose vac, not a shop vac. it cost more. the bags are outrageously expensive and it does not truly hold much. that said, i think it meets its purpose: dust free vacuuming suitable for lead abatement. i don't clean up haz mat, but i want a dust free vac.

Answer:	I think it's the best vacuum for all floor types as well as all types of rugs. I have not had any issues with any of my flooring in fact I'm pretty sure my carpets are cleaner since I started using my Miele. The best thing is that it will automatically turn off the roller brush on it's own when I'm moving from room to room and you have 5 levels to choose from level 1 being hardwood flooring and as high as level 5 for deep pile carpeting. The suction is outstanding and I love that when I change the bag it's completely sealed so nothing in the bag comes out. I highly recommend this specific Miele Vacuum.

Answer:	I hate swiffer. For that type of cleaning I use libman and the pads are washable and reusable so as not to increase unnecessary waste. I bought two extra pads for mine so I always have one or two clean. I have an older model dyson cordless and I love it. I'm sitting here drooling over this one and cant wait to be able to buy it.

Answer:	10-60 minutes depending on power setting. I find medium gets me 30-40 minutes and is more than adequate for general cleaning. Max suction will suck a golf ball through a garden hose and not necessary all the time. I’ve used max suction a handful of times yet never with a powered head attached as it’s pointless and will actually make the head stick to area rugs it’s so strong.

Answer:	The Motorhead is the entry level. You only get a crevice tool and another small crevice attachment with a brush. Also please note that even though the motor design is new, you also get a 40% smaller dust bin size on the Motor Head. The Absolute gives you everything. 40% bigger dust bin, crevice tool, another stubby crevice tool with a brush, a blind/curtain brush, the motorized small power head for cars/couches etc, a head "meant" for hard surfaces such as tile, wood, etc which is a soft fiber velvet-like brush and a head meant for carpet which is your traditional stiffer brush. My opinion is that the Animal is the best value as the only thing you miss is the brush head meant for hard surfaces which everyone has done fine with for all time beforehand and you then save $100 dollars versus the Absolute.

Answer:	I made one that looks like it came from Kenmore so I can use a generic central vacuum hard floor brush with it. Here is why the hoses and ends are sized the way they are. Vacuums operate on a combination of both suction and airflow. The smaller the hole, the greater the suction but the less the airflow. The larger the hole, the less suction but the greater the airflow. There is a happy medium of suction and airflow where the motor works best. Old fashioned vacuum motors like those in old Kenmores, Hoovers, vintage Eurekas and the like made their best power between 3/4 inch and 1 1/4 inch diameter openings, so it's no coincidence that their wands were a standard 1 1/4 inches diameter. New vacuum motors benefit from technologies like computational fluid dynamics that greatly increased their airflow without suction dropping off. To take advantage of the increased airflow newer machines really need larger diameter wands and attachments. That is what you see on this vacuum, as well as modern Mieles, Tri-Stars and Aerus Lux machines. The smaller traditional wands will choke the motor off and reduce cleaning power. You are better off using the attachments that come with it, they are very good compared to what Miele, Simplicity or Riccar provide, and unlike some other vacuums like Kirby, Tri-Star, Rainbow or Filter Queen they all stow under the lid instead of having to drag an attachment caddy around.

My only complaint about the vac are the wheels. It is not as maneuverable as the previous one but it does such a good job, I will learn to put up with it. Question:	how many amps on the motor
Answer:	I just called Atrix's '800' number (800-222-6154) www.atrix.com and was told that the Turbo RED Canister Vacuum has 12 amps. I was looking at a canister vacuum by bissel and eureka but the amps on those items are less. I have tile floors and wood and carpet only on my stairs, plus I have pets, so I'm very glad to hear that this canister vacuum has powerful suction and I'm also pleased that this machine requires a bag ( AHC-2 – HEPA Bag - this machine comes with 2 Bags ). For health reasons I'm grateful that I don't have to look at or touch those awful dust cups found in bag-less machines.
Question:	Does this come with extension cord
Answer:	Hello – this is Alyssa, I work as a Customer Specialist for Atrix. The VACBP1 does not come with an extension cord. Atrix manufactures the Atrix backpack cord (pigtail) a certain length for two reasons: 1) users of this product range from professional cleaners to homeowners, and by manufacturing the cord as a pigtail it allows the operator to choose which size extension cord best suits their application; and 2) if the extension cord is damaged, it then offers the operator a quick fix - simply by replacing the extension cord, not the entire vacuum. Answer:	The cord on the unit is about 12 inches long. This way you can add any length of extension cord to meet your needs. I added a 50' cord and I can reach any in my house.

Answer:	no, YOU pick up the paper clips..vacuums are not made for picking up paper clips..
Question:	How do you clean the filter
Answer:	There is a HEPA filter in front of the vacuum, you lift the door from the bottom and you can take it out and wash it. and then you lift the canister out from the base ( like you're emptying the canister of dirt.) You will find 2 foam filters there. lift them both out and wash those too. Just dont throw in washing machine or dishwasher. I use dish detergent and wash them off in the sink. Just make sure they are completely dry before putting them back on the vacuum. After a dozen or so washings they will break down ( you will know this ) extra filters can be purchased on EBay or Amazon or other websites. I usually clean the foam filters when they are a very dark brown or gray color,then i also wash the HEPA filter also. Good luck! Question:	What is the difference between Shark NV 352 and the NV
Answer:	The 352 has a 25 foot cord, the 356 (professional) is 30', the hard floor tools are different. The 356 has a microfiber 'dust pad' that goes over the hardwood floor attachment. The 352's hard floor attachment has a 'V' shape to funnel debris no pad, but it does have a duster attachment both available to purchase separately. The dust cup on the 356 is larger and the overall machine is 2 lbs heavier then the 352. 356 also comes with a bag for the tools where my 352 did not. The other tools all appear to be the same on both models. They both run the same amps and can be converted into canister mode as well, but are aesthetically different.
Question:	Why is the little rectangle on the side sucking in so much air and causing it not to work
Answer:	I can answer that question specifically because it happened to me and caused me to give this vacuum an erroneously poor review. My shark lasted for just under four years and was amazing. THEN it started sucking air like crazy though that rectangle and suction dropped by 80%. I did everything to fix it ... cleaned all the filters, checked all the hoses ... nothing fixed it. I was about to put it to the curb for the garbage man when something told me to check it out one last time. Well to make a long story short ... if you open your dust canister, there is a conical thing in the middle with mesh screen sides. That mesh was clogged with dust/dirt. On a hunch I cleaned it with a toothbrush (extremely difficult and awkward job) and guess what? The suction is back 100% and my Shark is back like when it brand was new. NOTE WELL. NOWHERE in the manual does it suggest that this area should be cleaned. I hope this answer is not too late for you.
