Question:	How does the oil lamp seal the vase? In the picture, it doesn't look like it fits very snug to prevent the sand from moving
Answer:	Not that I am aware of, but there is adequate room inside for a water bottle. I would check it, but it is packed. We are downsizing and moving.
Question:	What does your box say in terms of batter life? My box says only 23 minutes
Answer:	It did not come with washing instructions but I would not hesitate to machine wash mine if an inside out cleaning were necessary. It's the same lightweight nylon that my water resistant fishing pants are made of and I machine wash those frequently. The only thing I would be concerned about with this backpack would be the straps and buckles getting caught or snagged in the machine.

Answer:	I am also 5'3" and this fits me . It has adjustable waist and chest straps, so that should help in fitting. As far as hiking, I haven't used it yet, but it's very roomy, with good padding and back support and lots of pockets. Hope this helps.
