Answer:	Unfortunately, the swing portion of the lid cannot be removed. Fortunately, we have an open top style bin available -> VA41865A.

Question:	Does the swing lid fit close enough to keep odors in
Answer:	I liked this can a lot until this past week when something really made it smell very bad. I've had it over a year, and I don't have a lot of messy trash. I always take the messy, wet trash out to the big trash can outside. I have found it to be too big for me, also, because I live alone, and it's just too big. I'm going to order a smaller one but the main reason is because I cleaned out the can very well, and the lid, then it still smelled, so I took it outside, filled it with water from the hose and put 1/2 gallon of white vinegar in it, let it sit outside in the sun for 24 hours. I just emptied it out, not an easy task, rinsed it, dried it, and it still smells , but not as strong. I can't stand trash cans which smell so it's going into the basement and I'm not getting another plastic can. I'm getting another SimpleHuman but a metal one. Also, I noticed right away that the swing lid fit so closely as to keep odors in. Don't know why or how the can itself started smelling so bad, but my dear husband ( I'm a widow ) used to call me Super Nose!

Answer:	It’s not air tight so wouldn’t hide odors and I would not use it for litter based on the small circumference of the lid

Answer:	It would depend on the size of the liner. I use the produce bags you can get in the grocery store, and turn them out over the edge below the cover ring. And of course then the are visible but they stay put. If your liner was totally inside then you wouldn't see it, but it would probably collapse on itself.
Question:	The lid came in 2 parts, no instructions, how do you assemble the lid
Answer:	The lid should not be separate. It’s attached. That piece should slide into the next.
Question:	Is the top real bamboo
Answer:	Yes it is, however what joins the bamboo to the bottom is a flimsy plastic. It breaks off easily which makes the lid useless. Do t recommend.

Answer:	Mine arrived that way, too, with the metal part not attached, but it went on without a problem. The metal "button" is really just a cover for the actual, plastic push-button/lever part. It fits over and snaps onto that front "push button".

Answer:	mine came with a lid, however the lid was broken so i couldn't even use it
