Answer:	Each wood piece is about 1/4 inch. By the time you hang pant in there the width of the overall hanger is 1 1/4 inches.

Answer:	Not certain how you measured 5 1/2 inches for a pole diameter. I wouldn't think any hanger in the world would fit that large of a closet pole. But to answer your question, these hangers will fit a pole no larger than 1 1/2 inches. One and a half inches to spell it out.

Answer:	You are suppose to take the metal hook part that hangs on the clothes rod in your closet and without forcing too much, because it is very easy once you know how it works, but the hook will swivel to one side of the wooden boards and the 2 boards will open up with ease. put pant legs in between the wooden boards and swivel the metal hook back up and it will snap in place. Try only one the first time so you can see how it will look after you snap it back into place.

Answer:	I use mine with plastic hangers. It works great. None have broken.
Question:	Do the leave marks on the pants
Answer:	check the last picture of the product. it shows the difference of the space it saves vs the space it would take up if one doesn’t use it.

Question:	will these cause those indents onto the skirts
Answer:	I believe this would work well for slacks. The clips are not stationary so it can be adjusted.
Question:	Are the clips adjustable or slide to fit the width of the skirt
Answer:	I also found the clips very hard to open. I think it is just a feature we can't change. On a positive note, I don't have to worry about my garments falling to the floor. I have two of these hangers and I think they're grand.
Question:	Is the hook a swivel hook? Can it be turned around
Answer:	Doesn't have any purpose that I can tell. Do like these hangers a lot and have several sets. Clips are strong and don't make "teeth marks" on my clothes.
Question:	Believe it or not, I'm thinking outside the box and want to use these to hang my rotary cutting mats. Do the clips grip tight
Answer:	I bought a 6 tier. It is 14 1/2 inches at the widest part. The bar with the skirt clips is 13 inches. A size 16 (American women's) sticks out about 1" on each side of each clip at the waist. A relatively straight skirt is about 21" at the fullest part. The hanger will fit you small closet, but you may have to fold the waist band in at each clip if you are trying to hang large clothes.
