| Answer: | There are a few variables here, like how dirty the water is, how aggressive you are when cleaning the filter. If you scrape it too hard and wear it down past the minimal size it won't last as long. I used mine for several seasons in the boundary waters before having to replace the filter element, however, a lot of the lakes up there are fairly clean water. So with that said, you should get lots of good clean drinking water with that filter, especially if you are using one of the gravity fed filter systems. Hope this helps. |

| Answer: | Ok, it took me a minute of digging around. Yes, this will work in your WaterWorks II blue filter. It looks like the only difference is your WaterWorks has an extra paper filter that installs after the ceramic element. These things last forever, right? It appears that MSR no longer produces that paper filter.Which makes me think... that secondary filter should have gone bad WAY before this ceramic element. Did you already purchase extras of those before they quit making them? Maybe your budget won't allow it, but if it will, it might be time to think about upgrading to at least the MiniWorks.The MSR manufacturer's website did not list this as a replacement for your filter. But afrer a short trip around the web, and I found two camping gear sites that listed this as a replacement for the WaterWorks II. One of the sites had it for $30.29 (I didn't look to see how much they charged for shipping).Good luck. Hope this helps. |
