12 best home drugs test kits
Home drug test kits are diagnostic tools designed for individuals to test for the presence of various drugs in their system from the comfort of their own homes. These tests are commonly used by parents, employers, or individuals concerned about their own drug use. They typically come in the form of urine, saliva, or hair tests, with urine tests being the most common.
Key features and information about home drug test kits include:
Types of Drugs Detected:
- Multidrug Tests: Many home drug test kits are designed to detect multiple drugs simultaneously. These tests can screen for a range of substances, including marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines, opioids, and benzodiazepines.
Test Formats:
- Urine Tests: These are the most common type of home drug tests. Users collect a urine sample and dip the testing strip into the sample. Results typically appear within a few minutes.
- Saliva Tests: These involve collecting a saliva sample, either by swabbing the inside of the mouth or spitting into a collection container.
- Hair Tests: This type of test analyzes hair strands for the presence of drugs over an extended period. It's less common for at-home use due to its complexity.
Accuracy:
- Home drug test kits are generally considered accurate, but the precision can vary. False positives or negatives may occur, and factors like the timing of the test and the individual's metabolism can influence results.
Purpose:
- Parental Use: Parents may use these kits to monitor their children's drug use.
- Employee Testing: Some employers use home drug tests for pre-employment screening or random checks.
- Personal Monitoring: Individuals may use these tests for self-monitoring, especially if they are undergoing rehabilitation or want to ensure they are drug-free.
Availability:
- Home drug test kits are widely available over the counter at pharmacies, online, and in some cases, at local supermarkets.
Instructions for Use:
- Each home drug test kit comes with specific instructions that users should follow carefully to ensure accurate results.
Legal Considerations:
- While these tests can provide useful information, they are not legally binding. Confirmation of results may be required through more rigorous testing in a clinical setting.
It's important to note that home drug test kits are screening tools and not a definitive diagnosis. If there are concerns about drug use, consulting with a healthcare professional or a laboratory for more comprehensive testing and guidance is advisable.

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the pass/fail cutoff level for THC for this test kit |
Answer: | Yes, a small sampling of your stool is required for this test. The instructions are simple and is included in your kit. |
Question: | Does this test have lab result confirmation included? Will it show the levels of ng/ml |
Answer: | It can be used for either. I teach a nutrition course, so the students try it mostly for fun, but I have found, anecdotally, that many of the self-proclaimed "picky eaters" do test positive as a super taster. There are 4 different strips, one of which is a control. You just touch the strips to your tongue, and depending on the # of taste buds, you will (or won't) taste anything. Super tasters do tend to eat less veg because what is slightly bitter to most is overwhelmingly for them. Kids by nature don't like new flavors, so often small bites, presented frequently will help. Good luck! |
Question: | How do you gnarks sleep at night |
Answer: | The PTC is propylthiauracil, the thiouria is a different compound which also tastes bitter and is genetically determined. Hope this helps. |
Question: | How are these FDA approved? Is there any proof? I do not see it in the FDA database of home approved test kits |
Answer: | Paper strips with different chemicals that some are able to taste while others cannot. It is said that if you can taste certain ones that you are a supertaster. |

User questions & answers
Question: | If I found a white substance and added it to water would the test results show what substance it is? Or at least narrow it down to a category |
Answer: | All TCAs are tested and would show up as positive. Some other medications, like Flexeril, can show up as a false positive for TCAs. In this 14 panel test, the specific opiods tested for are Oxycodone, Methadone, Bupenorphine, and Propoxyphene. All other opiods, or the OPI, are non-specifically tested (which would include Fentanyl in most cases but that can depend on the sensitivity of the test as Fentanyl may not always show as a positive result under any opiod tested). OPI would also include medications such as Hydrocodone, and illicit drugs such as heroine. The additional drugs tested are THC, methamphetamine, amphetamines, MDMA, PCP, benzodiazepines, barbituates, and cocaine. Generally, all urine panels test for all of the drugs that are classified under each component, i.e. Ativan or Xanax would reflect a positive benzodiazepine. And again, any Tricyclic antidepressant would show as a positive TCA (Elavil, Nortriptyline, etc). |
Question: | Does this test heroin |
Answer: | Yes there is a form where you can put the address to send the results. It can be bought as a gift as long as the person getting the gift knows they have to give blood and all that. |
Question: | Does this test for ketamine |
Answer: | I did it myself! The finger prick did not hurt like I thought it would. Just a little poke! I did have to poke it twice to get enough blood for the sample. |
Question: | Is this FDA Approved or FDA cleared by 510(k)? Your posting says it’s both and these are two very different from one another; not interchangeable |
Answer: | Yes, but check your Spam folder... My results were received at 5:03pm on Friday. I didn't get anything all weekend then came and saw these answers that I should have. I was about to call the company but then thought to check in my email where I never look. In my gmail account it was delivered to my "Promotions" tab at 2:09pm on Saturday!!! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the packaging discrete |
Answer: | Hello, thanks for your question. Before purchasing, please choose the check box provided that tells Amazon to ship the box inside other amazon packaging. Our drug test boxes feature USFDA required labeling which states what is inside the box. We are required by law to include said labels on each box. If not ordering via Prime, and it ships from our facility, that required labeling will never be visible without first opening the packaging it’s shipped in. Thank you. |
Question: | Are these shipped discreetly |
Answer: | Hello thanks for your question. During checkout, Amazon provides a check box option to allow the drug test box to be placed inside another box which hides the contents when shipped. However, the drug test box itself features a label on the outside required by US FDA regulations describing what kind of tests are enclosed and what drugs are tested for. We hope this info helps. Thank you. |
Question: | Does this test comply with new dot drug test (jan 1,2018) thc, coc, amp, pcp, opi & semi-synthetic opiods [hydro/oxy-codone, hydro/oxy-morphone] |
Answer: | Shawn, Thanks for your question. Our 6 panel drug test cup tests for the same drugs as listed by the DOT, including the misc other opioids you listed. However, the cut-off levels are what you need to compare to current DOT tests. Our cut-off for Opioids is 300 ng/mL and the DOT is 2,000 ng/mL. However, DOT tests have lower cut-off on AMP at 500 ng/mL compared to our 1,000 ng/mL. Thank you for your interest. Medical Distribution Group, Inc. Sarasota, FL USA |
Question: | Both the thc lines are faint so am i postive or negative |
Answer: | Thank you for your question. A visible C-line (even faint) indicates the panel strip is working correctly. A faint T-line is considered industry-wide a negative result for instant urine tests. However, this does not mean the urine sample is free of THC. The negative result indicates the cut-off level of 50 ng/ml has not been met or exceeded. This could be caused by the presence of no THC or just not enough to meet the cut-off level. If you would like to call us we would be happy to explain in greater detail. 727-744-2967 (M-F 9-5 EST) Medical Distribution Group, Inc. Sarasota FL, USA |

Why use CLIA Waived tests?
Many of the doctors, hospitals, and professional clinics who use our tests are required to use urine test cups which are CLIA Waived. This means the tests have been cleared for professional use as well as over-the-counter home office use.
Why is the built-in temperature strip useful?
The temperature strip can help ensure a urine sample is freshly collected from the intended donor. Within 2 to 4 minutes of collection, human urine should register between 90 and 100 degrees (F). Look for the GREEN indicator to appear. Urine which does not register here may have been tampered with or substituted.
Why consider all available quantity options?
Each higher available quantity provides a more attractive value per test. Choose the quantity which best suites your testing volume and budget requirement needs.
Visual example of a cut-off level and window of detection after a substance has been dosed.
Question: What is a cut-off level for a urine test?
Answer: The level a substance must meet or exceed in urine to trigger a positive result.
With any instant urine test it is important to note a negative result does not always mean the urine sample is free of that med or narcotic. It may contain the substance at a concentration that is lower than the defined cut-off level. Different substances are processed by the body at different rates. The window of detection for a med or narcotic begins to decrease over time once it has reached its highest level of concentration in the body. Other factors which can affect detection time include: physical body type, metabolic rate, dietary habits, dosage size, dosage method.

Question: | No matter what i do (smoke wise) i get a negative result! now i do have diabetes so i pee like nobody's business but any positive results out there |
Answer: | To be honest...I did not drink it, it smells bad, taste bad and after just one sip, I did not want to continue, because I will not place my health at risk even if I paid for the product, it looks as too concentrated. So, if even telling you this you are willing to try...God Bless You ! |
Question: | What is the minimum ng/ml for a positive result |
Answer: | Not too sure. One bottle is consumed within 1 day though, they recommend drinking 4oz at a time, 4x a day. The effects lasted days, I don't think you'll need more that 1 bottle back to back.. but I don't think it'll hurt if you did. Just may get a little constipated. |
Question: | What concentration do these test for |
Answer: | Yes, drink lots of water too. Apple cider vinegar also helps. Drink lots of water |
Question: | I have a question, the first time on fri I tested I got just a c line pos the time was sun with cline and a faint T is that good |
Answer: | It tastes really good! Kind of like a tart lemonade with juuuuust the right amount of sweet. |

Reading the results:
Positive: A rose-pink line is visible in the control region. No line is visible in the appropriate test region. It indicates a positive result for the corresponding panel of that specific test zone.
Frequently Asked Questions:
The Test Line is lighter than the Control Line. Does this mean some substance is present? No. Any test line, no matter how dark or light, is considered a negative result and should not be interpreted as a measure or the amount of substance.
How soon after use can you detect the substance in the urine and for how long can it be detected in the urine? Most panels can be detected in the urine within a few hours after use, however, this can vary depending on the type of substance taken, the amount taken, the frequency of use, and the metabolism of the person being tested. Each panel is cleared by the body at different rates. Some panels, for example THC, can stay in the body for up to several weeks after use.
When is the best time to take the test? Use first morning urine when possible as it tends to be the most concentrated urine of the day making it best for detecting any substance that may be in the system.
