Answer:	Dbi is a measurement of the power. The theory is, increasing the power should increase the range but it rarely works that way. The general rule is for a DB is every 3db increase doubles the power so going from say 5 to 8 would be 2 times but going from 5-11 would be 4 times the power. Problem is that signal loss over distance also follows this a similar rule so the rate you lose increases with distance.

TP542 13dBi WiFi High-Gain Panel Antenna

Panel antenna is used to radiate the signal into the forward space. The primary purpose is to reach places where a device with a default antenna would not reach. It is designed for use on stationary objects such as buildings or houses, but it is widely used for remote connection at campgrounds, RV motorhomes, boats, or remote devices like WiFi cameras.

Antenna collects the signal and sends it through the cable to a networking device. It is equipped with an N-Female connector and it is ready to connect to a device with a proper extension cable. It requires a 50 Ohm RF coax expansion cable with N-Male connector on the antenna side and connector type that fits the device on the other side. Answer:	Well it wasnt made to withstand outdoor elements but its an antenna and there isnt much it has to do and rain wont cause it to fail. I have wifi antennas that have been outdoors for years and still work. I would be more concerned about the camera. Try to waterproof the connection to the camera with electrical tape or some other water resistant product.

Question:	Is this the strongest way to get wifi approx 600 feet outside with some trees
Answer:	We needed it to cover 200Ft which it did very well with little or no issues.
Question:	my shop is about 500 feet how far away will the Wi-Fi reach
Answer:	Amazon restricts size so I struggled! The unit can easily see a wifi host that my similar device called Engenious can. When I do wifi scan - it can see my building...and with the Yagi antenna pointed directly at my building source - my Engenious would get great signal - I tried plugging Yagi into the 5 mhz side but then the other neighbors wifi stopped showing up so the 2.4 must be right side.
Question:	Can device pick up signal without being attached to the router, & if so, how long a range ? Necessary for continual connection to electricity
