Answer:	Yes a blanket or towels would fit in the large basket.

Answer:	I don't see why not. They're wicker. As long as you use a paint that will work well on wicker, it shouldn't be a problem.

Answer:	The lids do not stay open. You will need to use something to keep them open.
Question:	Do these have any sort of odor like some of the other similar products? I want to use them for clothes
Answer:	I haven't noticed any odor. They smell like baskets. But they aren't really big for clothes though. The biggest one would be ideal for undergarments and that's about it. I use the smaller ones for makeup and to hold my coffees in the kitchen.
