Answer:	I am now on my 4th 16 oz. Contigo travel mug and the last 3 , the seals were the problem as they start to leak and then the seals came out. Answer:	I believe you are thinking of a piece of 3/4" wood sitting on top of these. That is not what these are for. Generally, you build a thin 1"-2" rectangular shel....top, bottom, two sides, and front......do not make a back.....now it should judt slide on. At this point, there are different ways to address securing the shelf, but given your question, I am guessing you will pass on these.
Question:	Is there a way to adjust the slow flow of liquid
Answer:	I can't guarantee it, and it depends on the quality of the shelf, the types of fasteners, and if you can hit studs, or other solid backing, but the shelf holders themselves are plenty strong enough to support 25lbs each. My judgment would be that they might hold 100lbs each.... very solid.
