I also have a switch to the outlet, but This way when the power goes out I can plug the pump into the generator to use it when the power is out. Just make sure the extension cord to the generator is a # 12 wire.

Answer:	It is a two piece design and you can unscrew the strainer. The nozzle has a 3" diameter flange that screws to the strainer so I don't think you can attach a vacuum hose to that end.

Also, the pump will fit into a 4inch casing or larger so you will be fine with your 6inch casing. Just make sure you don't put the pump past 100-160 feet down the well
