Answer:	There is a movable drain spout (side to side) that drains into the sink. I put a small block of wood (I'm sure you could use anything that lifts up the back of the rack slightly to accomplish the same effect). I really like this drainer because it adjustable lengthwise. I just use my sink sprayer to occasionally clean the rack (or put in the dishwasher for extra cleaning if necessary). I've been very happy with this product.

Answer:	Hi, ELS,It does a little bit of both. I have had this for a few months now and am really pleased with the design and material. The metal feet in the rear of the tray do a good job of giving the rack a nice angle for draining. The spout is not tremendously big, but it does a good job of draining the water. However, as with all dish racks, not every drop of water will always drain into the sink. The instructions for the rack suggest cleaning the tray once a month to ensure a long life for the product.
