Answer:	Crispiness is not achieved by any cooking "device" whether it be a frying pan, baking oven or waffle iron. Unintentionally, I know, you're asking too much of a waffle iron. With any given batter, you can get crispy from donut or fritter or waffle batters by deep frying and maybe even by hot oven baking. (It's actually counter to the traditional preference to make doughnuts from "cake batter" to make them all soft and NOT crunchy-crispy (which is still my overwhelming preference for donuts.) So given you are using waffle batter and not cake batter, that's the only further step required - deep frying or hot baking. As others point out: it's helpful to use a toaster to put the crunchy-crisp finish on the waffles as they come out of the waffle iron. ( because toasters are equivalent to hot oven baking on this topic).

Answer:	No, I haven't found anything that would override it. I also use it for quilting and would rather it stayed on. I found out later that the Rowenta Focus does stay on. If I had known that at the time, I would have purchased it instead. Hope this helps.

Answer:	I can see the water level rise as I add water to the iron. You can see the level through the clear plastic cover. That said, this is a powerful iron that puts out a lot of steam. Answer:	I don't know. It has temps ranging from Low to High. I got it because I like cooking with cast iron skillets and I have a glass top stove (came with the house when I bought it) I cook on it daily and for the most part the medium setting works pretty much for everything. I fry my eggs in the morning and different meats during the day. I use a small cast iron skillet for most things on medium. But I also have a Cast Iron Dutch Oven that make fantastic Soups also using medium heat. The only time I use the high heat is when I deep fry things = my favorite is breaded mushrooms. I know this doesn't answer your question but I hope it helps.
Question:	What are the dimensions
Answer:	Contact the manufacturer to buy a new knob/thermostat, (which for liability reasons won't sell you one if you are not an 'authorized repair dealer') or pitch it and buy a new one. It will probably be cheaper and less aggravating to buy a new one.
