Answer:	I can't say with certainty (yet) because I cooked 6 the first time around (and they were all perfect). But if the cooking time is determined as I think it is...by the amount of water per egg as noted on the water cup, the only variant should be how long it takes to boil the water out before the timer goes off. I would expect the same results with 1 egg as for 6.

Answer:	You're correct— it doesn't make sense. I believe you're referring to the measurements on the included cup. I have a different cooker (the SimpleTaste) with the same problem— the measurement markings were embossed incorrectly. You •do• need more water for more eggs and/or longer cooking time. For one egg, I have to use the 6&7 mark, and for two eggs, the 5 mark, etc. I still have to play with the amount of water used, but going by the cup you'd over cook one egg and undercook 7. MAYBE somewhere in between it would be right.

Answer:	The piercing tool is to prick eggs on the end when you plan to have a hard boiled egg. Some say it keeps the shell from cracking or that it helps the bottom stay round rather than flat. I don't prick mine and they are fine. I'm not making deviled eggs that have to look good. Answer:	Mine has a black bottom and no alarm. Although it shut off, because I expected an alarm (like that the one i had previously) I didn’t notice when it had finished. The eggs stayed in it too long and were rubbery with greyish yolks. I’ll use it again and have to monitor its cooking time which is incovenjent
Question:	WHY do you have to poke a hole in the top of egg when hard boiling? If the egg bubbles out the hole, what's the purpose
Answer:	It's important to poke the hole into the fat end of the egg. This is because each egg has an air pocket at this end. And set the egg into the tray with the hole up so that this sulphury air can properly escape. You're venting the nasty stuff that you don't want infusing into the egg. Venting makes the eggs look great and taste great. Just remember, wide-end up.
Question:	Does this item have an automatic shut off
Answer:	Mine (the stainless steel with "No Alert" option) shuts off automatically. I've noticed that it will cut back on if left alone for several minutes, though. I guess the water drips back down from the dome and the sensor thinks it's time to cook again. Since that happened, I try to flip the switch off right after they're done.

Answer:	I've never poked a hole in an egg. About every other time an egg will crack, but not frequent enough to worry about it. I just eat that egg immediately.

Answer:	I purchased one of these cookers about a year ago. Had problems with water boiling out, eggs cracking, and discoloration in the metal cooking pan. I was filling the water level to the top of the measuring cup as that's what I thought was needed. Was also using tap water. After reading all the questions/answers on Amazon, and the directions in detail, realized I was doing a lot of things wrong. Many comments were made about poking the hole in the top of the egg, I didn't know what the top of an egg was until reading these questions/answers, it is the large/more rounded side, which should be facing up when you get them from the carton. I was poking the pointy end. So I tried spraying a little cooking spray in the base of the metal cooking tray and did not fill the water measuring cup to the highest level. None of the eggs broke, no water boiled out, the eggs were super-easy to peel, and the little bit of dark discoloration on metal cooking tray came out completely after adding a little warm water. So what I thought were product defects were of my own making.

Question:	Why do some reviewers recommend using distilled water
Answer:	The manufactor reccomends it because the minerals in tap or bottled water will stain the bottom of the burner and you have to use vinegar to remove it. The instructions say over time it will cause discoloration to the eggs- don't know because after the first few times using tap water and then having to scrub the bottom with vinegar, I went out and bought a gallon jug of distilled water for 99 cents. Well worth the money.

Answer:	Yes, you can poach just one or two eggs at a time. Make sure you keep the empty cups in their space so you don’t get extra steam over the eggs you are cooking. The extra moisture will make a bad egg. By the way, this is the best poacher I have ever used...Enjoy!

Answer:	I have only had mine for a short time, however the non stick coating is made of a quality material and if you hand wash them after each use I believe they should last for quite some time. I do spray a little Pam on mine before using. The eggs slide very easy either way.

Answer:	I don’t know if you have to, but piercing it apparently steams the egg white away from the shell for peeling without sticking to the shell. However, I didn’t receive a manual.

Answer:	First of all - is DISTILLED water. Then when done it literally wipes clean - dishcloth - or even mr clean pad.
