Answer:	Mine has a black bottom and no alarm. Although it shut off, because I expected an alarm (like that the one i had previously) I didn’t notice when it had finished. Question:	WHY do you have to poke a hole in the top of egg when hard boiling? If the egg bubbles out the hole, what's the purpose
Answer:	It's important to poke the hole into the fat end of the egg. This is because each egg has an air pocket at this end. And set the egg into the tray with the hole up so that this sulphury air can properly escape. You're venting the nasty stuff that you don't want infusing into the egg. Venting makes the eggs look great and taste great. Just remember, wide-end up.

Answer:	Mine (the stainless steel with "No Alert" option) shuts off automatically. I've noticed that it will cut back on if left alone for several minutes, though. I guess the water drips back down from the dome and the sensor thinks it's time to cook again. Since that happened, I try to flip the switch off right after they're done.

Answer:	I can't say with certainty (yet) because I cooked 6 the first time around (and they were all perfect). But if the cooking time is determined as I think it is...by the amount of water per egg as noted on the water cup, the only variant should be how long it takes to boil the water out before the timer goes off. I would expect the same results with 1 egg as for 6.

Answer:	You're correct— it doesn't make sense. I believe you're referring to the measurements on the included cup. I have a different cooker (the SimpleTaste) with the same problem— the measurement markings were embossed incorrectly. You •do• need more water for more eggs and/or longer cooking time. For one egg, I have to use the 6&7 mark, and for two eggs, the 5 mark, etc. I still have to play with the amount of water used, but going by the cup you'd over cook one egg and undercook 7. MAYBE somewhere in between it would be right.

Answer:	The piercing tool is to prick eggs on the end when you plan to have a hard boiled egg. Some say it keeps the shell from cracking or that it helps the bottom stay round rather than flat. I don't prick mine and they are fine. I'm not making deviled eggs that have to look good. Answer:	If you have another way to measure water in milliliters, here’s what my cup says: 5-7 soft boiled =20 ml or 4 tsp. 1-4 soft boiled=30 ml or 2 Tbsp. 5-7 medium=a shade less than 35 ml or 2 Tbsp plus 1 tsp. 1-4 medium=40 ml or 2 Tbsp plus 2 tsp 5-7 hard=almost 65 ml or 4 Tbsp plus 1 tsp 7-14 hard (great for deviled eggs)=70 ml or 4 Tbsp plus 2 tsp 1-4 hard=about 75 ml, or 5 Tbsp Omelet/poached line=40 ml, or 2 Tbsp plus 2 tsp (did not have a measurement noted, but it lines up perfectly with the 40 ml line on the front.) As an aside, a full load of 14 hard boiled eggs, cold from the fridge, turned off at 22 minutes. If you leave them too long without rinsing and cooling, the yolks overcook. This is why I wish this had an alarm sound to tell you when it’s done. 😁

Answer:	Absolutely! First ones I cooked were hard boiled. Came out perfect!

Answer:	Yes there is , It's a small round tray that you can poach 1 or 2 egg's in . You can also mix 1 or 2 eggs like your making an omelet .The directions leave you hanging as far as how much water to use for poaching and omelets. Some users suggested using the water level for 1 medium well egg and make slight adjustment from there.

Question:	Is the tray that holds the egg cups removable
Answer:	Fill the pan about 1/3 full of water. Then I put just a dab of butter in the poachers and bring the water to a boil. When the butter just starts to melt, I add the eggs and cover. 5 minutes will be firmer and 4 minutes will get you a really soft yoke. This is the best egg poacher I have found. Good luck!
Question:	Are the egg cups plastic or metal with non-stick coating
Answer:	volume of the cups is exactly 2 fl oz (1/8 cup, 60 ml, 4 tbsp or 12 tsp). Note that some large eggs will overrun them, and all Extra Large and Jumbo eggs will. I just buy medium eggs for use in this unit. One of my main complaints about it is that these cups are so small.

Answer:	The tray that holds the eggs is plastic and is removable/washable. There is also a plastic dish included if you want to poach eggs in it. The machine itself requires very little maintenance. I always just wipe it out with a damp cloth with a little dish soap.

Answer:	Fairly certain this is because the extra space in the cooker that is just air. In other words the extra water to steam 1 egg is added to fill in the airspace for the missing 6 eggs.
