In the middle of cooking, the display just went dead and after that, no sign of life.We called Nesco and they gave us an RMA, but after going back and looking at a number of 'dead unit' reviews was unsure I even wanted to spend $20-30 on shipping the thing back to them -- especially with only a few months left on warranty. The trouble is, the Cuisinart and Fagor units seem to have the same sort of complaints.I'm an electrical engineer and decided to have a quick look inside with a volt meter before sending it out to see if it was something dumb and repairable -- it was.It turns out the problem is a temperature cutoff device that goes inline with the red AC power wire (inside a piece of clear silicone tubing near the bottom of the unit). It's a cheap one-shot device (Microtemp G4A01 with Tf=128C), meaning if it goes over temperature just once it's dead forever.I bypassed the sensor just to see if the unit would come up and it did (don't operate it this way without replacing the sensor)! Equally amazing, I was able to find a replacement sensor on Amazon for $1.25 plus shipping:Thermal fuse 128 degrees celsius.If you have a stone dead unit like this, are out of warranty and know someone who is handy with electrical wiring this might help you. I would recommend a crimp-type connection rather than soldering, due to the heat (would melt the solder). Question:	Is the slow cooker setting high or low? Most recipes say 4-6 hours for high and 8-10 hours for low. Does it turn off automatically
Answer:	U.S 120 volt plug only. If you what to use in UK used the plug adapter it will burn out the unit. You do need the step down transformer from 240v to 120v with 5 amp. Search Amazon I find this "BESTEK Universal Travel Adapter 220V to 110V Voltage Converter with 6A 4-Port USB Charging and UK/AU/US/EU Worldwide Plug ". I am not working for Bestek just try to help.

Answer:	Had since 2016, and 1 small scratch on bottom, but the rim is more scratched. Not sure how that happened as we normally also are careful in what we use to wash and use rice scrapper.

Answer:	No, but you can connect it to a timer. Briefly turn on the power, press one of the rice cooking buttons, and turn the power off again. When your timer turns on the power again, the rice will cook as expected.

Answer:	With stainless steel it usually means leftover grease from the factory. You would need to scrub it with baking soda and oil, then clean it all off with dish soap. If not stainless steel, I agree that is concerning.

I believe there are simpler ways, though.

Question:	Could you tell me if the lid is plastic or glass? Thanks so much
Answer:	The lid is glass with a stainless steel rim, a plastic handle on top, and a steam venting hole that is about 5/16 inch diameter (this is not a rice cooker with an all-plastic hinged lid). My old rice cooker lid has a smaller steam venting hole that's about 3/16 inch diameter.
