Answer:	The basket is made of carbon steel with plating.

Answer:	Very difficult to clean. First you have to drain the oil which because of the design can't be done without splashing oil all over the outside. Since you can't immerse it in water you then have to clean out the residual oil with paper towels and then pour a small quantity of soapy water into the main chamber and again getting rid of the soapy water gets all over the exterior when you pour it out. All in all the best way to clean it is to never use it.
