User questions & answers
Question: | Has anyone found the 10” pot diameter limit to be limiting? The literature boasts a 200 lb max, commercial kitchen, but with a 10” pan |
Answer: | It’s the same or larger area than any other commercial induction/gas burner I’ve used. Thermocouple/fluke IR probe shows there is certainly hot spots - but heat is far more even and responsive than other units I’ve used. |
Question: | The description says the maximum pan size is 10" (26cm). What happens if you cook using a larger pan |
Answer: | It’s outside of design parameters, so nobody knows unless someone tries it. Larger pot would be easier to tip over, and there may not be enough power to get the heat up. I can only guess, but I believe it would still work (if not exceeding the size by very much). You could try calling Breville if they would venture a guess, my guess is they won’t answer you because it might open them up to safety liability, and warranty issues. |
Question: | V or 208V? How many amps at that voltage at max power |
Answer: | Neither. 120v 1800w. Works on 15a. |
Question: | Can this be used for sus vide |
Answer: | If it can hold a pot of water at a set temperature (using the probe) over an extended period of time, then that is all that is needed for sous vide cooking food in a vacuum sealed bag. |

The Control ºFreak
The Control °Freak induction cooking system accurately measures, sets and holds 397 cooking temperatures from 86°-482°F. The unique real-time sensing system uses a through-glass sensor to directly measure surface temperature. The Probe Control thermometer precisely controls the temperature of any liquid. The Intensity function gives incredible control over the heating speed to the set temperature. A Create function stores frequently used temperature profiles for simple one-touch recall.
Probe Control for wet cooking
Directly sensing the temperature of the ingredients, Probe Control can set and hold the temperature stability of ingredients to within +-1.8ºF. Ideal for 'wet' cooking and remains accurate in liquids as shallow as 5mm deep. In delicate applications such as making curds, cremes, emulsified sauces or even tempering chocolate - Probe Control ensures success through precise temperature control.
Probe Control Oil for frying
Directly sensing the temperature of frying oil, Probe Control Oil can set and hold the temperature stability of the frying oil to within +-1.8ºF. Ideal for deep frying. Because the probe is monitoring the temperature of the oil directly, any change like adding cold or frozen food is detected almost immediately. Power is applied and regulated to return back to set temperature as quickly as possible.
Pan Control for all cooking
Only constant monitoring and the finest adjustments to power can ensure stable temperature. The Control ºFreak checks temperature 20 times per second to make virtually instantaneous adjustments to power to keep temperature variation to a minimum. Whether you are toasting spices & nuts or searing steaks, Pan Control ensures the perfect doneness every time.
Engineered for reliability
Any commercial cooker needs to perform hour after hour at very high temperatures, but if a regular induction cooker gets too hot it cuts out. The Control Freak's twin fan cooling system keeps you cooking all night even at searing / frying temperatures in the hottest kitchen.
Control heat intensity
When cooking delicate dishes you often need to raise the temperature slowly to distribute heat evenly. When cooking at searing temperatures you often need to heat up fast. With the Control ºFreak you can automatically adjust the speed to set temperature like never before.
Create. Save. Repeat.
On any given day the Control ºFreak may be used for any number of dishes on your menu. Now you don't have to remember the cooking times and temperatures, you can save them and recall them as required, or copy them to other machines for repeatability and consistency.
Tougher than a restaurant critic
It doesn't matter if it's heavy knocks, hot spills, or pots weighing 200 lbs, this machine is meant for the commercial kitchen. With and extra thick skin of commercial grade stainless steel and a heat-resistant Tritan display, the Control ºFreak is tough enough to take all of the punishment your kitchen can dish out!

User questions & answers
Question: | How does this model differ from the older model and are the parts and carafe interchangeable |
Answer: | The only difference is that you can adjust the coarseness of the grind. The carafe is interchangeable with the last model. |
Question: | Can you brew with ground coffee or do you have to start with whole beans each time |
Answer: | The BDC650BSS Grind Control features a 'Pre-Ground' mode which bypasses the grinder so that pre-ground coffee can be used within the gold tone or a paper filter. |
Question: | Are you really saying to use tap water and not water from our reverse osmosis system in the pot |
Answer: | People who are smart about their filtered water will have a remineralizer on their RO system. I will openly laugh at anyone who says to use tap water for coffee - I live in LA, that's a great way to end up with chlorine/sewage tasting coffee. Spring water, or filtered water that still has mineral content, is preferable to "zero water" But anyone who says you can make great coffee with tap water... Well, they must have nice tap water. |
Question: | How does one change the display from ml to oz? single cup brewing is listed in ml. tia |
Answer: | For the Breville BDC650BSS Grind Control, switch from milliliters to ounces by simply pressing and holding the 2 middle button knobs, CUP and STRENGTH, this will switch the default setting to the appropriate selection between ounces and milliliters. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this work in Japan (100v |
Answer: | Hi Gianne! Thanks for checking on this! We currently have Joule available for preorder and shipping within the US only, and Joule will not be covered by our warranty when used outside of the US. However, we are very committed to our international members, and we plan to expand to some international markets in the future. We hope to expand to international markets as soon as possible, but we do not currently have a firm ETA. |
Question: | How do I setup up to cook a medium rare steak for 1 person, and a medium/medium well steak for another person, at the same dinner table |
Answer: | Start the medium-well steak an hour before you start the medium rare. So begin at the higher temp for one hour, then lower the temp (you can add some ice cubes) to the medium rare temp, add the steak, and cook. The medium-well steak will not cook further, it will simply hold its done-ness until your medium-rare steak is done. Additionally, both steaks can sit in the water once completed until you're ready to serve. Simply remove from bags, pat dry and give them a quick sear for color. You're good to go. I do the same thing with veggies - I begin my veggies at a higher temp for an hour, then lower the temp and add my protein and cook accordingly. The veggies are always perfect, as are my proteins. |
Question: | What happens if you take the phone out of Bluetooth range, or shut the phone off |
Answer: | Joule utilizes both Bluetooth and wifi. As long as it is connected to your wifi network at home, Joule will continue to function with the app. I have had Joule cooking my food while I was away from home, at work, and the app will still connect to Joule over the cellular network. I have not tried turning my phone off while Joule and the app were running. I can only assume that Joule will either just continue the current task, or that it will pause and wait for you. |
Question: | If the company were to go out of business presumably the app would no longer be supported and the tool would be useless. Am I wrong |
Answer: | Since Joule is now compatible with Alexa, if the company ever ceases to update their app Alexa skill could be a workaround that wouldn’t require the Joule app. All youd need is WiFi and Alexa, and that’s not going outta style any time before the device croaks. Also, unlike other sous vide circulators Joule has the unique capability to update its firmware. So hopefully they’ll do the ethical thing and make their very last update to work w/o the app (tho it’ll be very frustrating, as the device itself does not have a screen and has only one button, thus its operation would definitely be very difficult and prone to user error every use.) These are just my plebeian logic…in theory. But…ChefSteps did have a separate app w/ much more recipes for everything you can think of, which they discontinued a while back. Perhaps they thought 1 app could serve both purposes, but now it’s just the 1 app and about 100 recipes available are solely limited to sous vide. Hope they will do right by their customers. Hope this helps a little. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the highest temperature setting for this new breville the smart oven air |
Answer: | I verified with my oven thermometer that it does in fact reach 480F unlike some competitors that can be up to 25 degrees shy of the set temp. It took 25 minutes for the Smart Oven Air to reach 480F. |
Question: | what are the outside dimensions |
Answer: | Dimensions: 17.2" x 21.4" x 12.8" per Breville website. |
Question: | Does the interior have non-stick walls? 2. Any idea what the voltage is...does it require anything special |
Answer: | Yes it does have non-stick walls. To clean use a soft, damp sponge with a non abrasive liquid cleaner. Pour on the sponge. Voltage is 110. Watts are 1800. They recommend operating the oven on a dedicated circuit separated from other appliances. Just a tip I bought an oven liner that u put in the bottom of a regular electric oven. Cut it done to the size that fits the tray that pulls out from the bottom of the breville. The tray that pulls out is not non-stick. Clean up is a breeze. This is my 2nd breville oven. I bought the 900 model because it is bigger and fits a 9x13 pans. Gave my son my smaller oven.I love this oven a lot. The light is great, air fry does frozen French fries to perfection. Easter I cooked a 10 lb ham. In my house it's called "moms easy bake oven". Just to separate between it and the regular oven. |

Question: | Does it have hot water spout for tea or to make americano on occasion |
Answer: | Yes it does. Right next to where it pours the shot, there is a spout for hot water. Just to note, the water that comes out of it is near-boiling. (~200° F). Perfect for Americanos or to get some hot water to clean an espresso cup or something. It will of course work for tea, but just keep in mind that you can't control the water temp. It comes out at the same temperature that it uses for pulling the espresso, which is near-boiling. If you are a tea connoisseur then you probably know that some tea like green tea should actually be steeped at lower temps like 170° or 180° to prevent burning. This water is around 200° which is good for herbal and black teas, but might burn more delicate teas like green and white teas. It works fast, essentially on demand (1-3 second warmup). But one of the many tea kettles that Breville makes would be better if you are making tea frequently. I have the Breville IQ Kettle next to this espresso machine and use the two interchangeably. Both this espresso machine and the IQ Kettle are amazing products made by Breville. The IQ Kettle will make water to the exact temp you set it to and hold it at that temp (between 130° and 220° F by 5° increments). Both appliances compliment a drink bar nicely. |
Question: | Does this have a double boiler |
Answer: | No. It's a single boiler. They advertise it as a "3 seconds start up with ThermoJet® heating system." which means the system heats the water pretty much on demand. Literally it goes from turning it on to espresso heat ready in a few seconds. And the same few seconds to make steam. It acts like a dual/double boiler. |
Question: | The original price is $$899.95. why you have it higher |
Answer: | Hello, Not sure what who you are referring to when you say $1350. There are 11 sellers on Amazon selling this item at the same exact price of $899.95. I do not see anyone selling it for $1350 |

Sometimes, making a simple soup can be hard work. Immersion blenders are supposed to make cooking easier, but they can often create problems instead of solving them: creating splatters, suctioning to the bottom of the bowl, and scratching pots. How can you control the power you need to get the texture you want? The Breville Control Grip immersion blender has a redesigned blade system to address these problems: a bell-shaped base and internal ribbing break suction for greater control and efficient blending. This is how the Breville Control Grip stands apart: whatever you need to blend, the Breville Control Grip has got it under control. The Breville Control Grip’s blade system has internal ribs that create turbulence. This unique system makes sure the food falls onto the blades, reducing suction to the bottom of the pot. It also gives you precise control over texture, with 15 variable Speeds, while the 8 inch immersion depth for large quantities or tall pots means that you can blend directly in the pot for less mess and more convenience. No more transferring soups from the pot to the food processor and back. The powerful 280 watt motor generates circulation, making sure all the ingredients are blended evenly. These features make the Breville Control Grip excellent for multi-tasking, whether it’s blending, emulsifying, whipping, or pureeing. Use it to make velvety soups, thick mayonnaise, fluffy whipped cream, chunky pesto, dips, and salsa, smoothies, baby food and more. The Breville Control Grip features an ergonomically optimized handle designed to fit your hand comfortably. Trigger operation keeps your hand in natural position for more stability and control, and its soft touch finish makes sure it’s easy on your hand, even when it’s hard on your food. With all of these features, it’s no wonder that the Breville Control Grip has been rated the best immersion blender by a leading consumer magazine, beating out higher priced models. It’s built with high quality materials: both the blending shaft and the ice-crushing blades are made of stainless steel, ensuring durability. A 6 foot extra-long power cord makes the unit portable and convenient, providing the mobility of a cordless immersion blender but making sure that it is always ready to go when you need it (no charging necessary). The bottom of the blender has a non-scratch base to prevent it from scratching your non-stick pots. It also comes with a handy whisk attachment for cream, egg whites, or light batters, as well as a blending jug and chopping bowl. The chopping bowl can be stored compactly in the jug for convenience and the lid of the blending jug can be used as a base to prevent slipping while blending. Easy clean parts can be hand washed and most parts (except motor, chopper lid and whisk gear box) can be washed in the dish washer on the top shelf only, making cleanup quick and easy.
- Bell shaped base, revolutionary shape plus internal ribbing reduces the suction for greater control and efficient blending
- Ergonomic pistol-like control grip with trigger operation
- 8" immersion depth for large quantities or tall pots
- Adjustable speed
- Non-scratch base to prevent scratching pots
- Included Components: 1 Year Warranty
User questions & answers
Question: | how much does the actual immersion blender weigh? is it 3.8 pounds? or is that the inclusive weight of all the other included attachments |
Answer: | Handle with cord weighs 1# 9 1/4oz + immersion blender attachment 11oz = 2# 4 1/4oz. |
Question: | I want to occasionally blend kale, cruciferous vegetables, and fibrous fruits/veggies, all raw. Would this work |
Answer: | The BSB510XL Control Grip will work best on chopping those foods but it can blend them. The blades on it covered with a kind of hood so that the small food or ice pieces are kept under it and against the blades until smooth. The food pieces would need to be chopped very small to fit under that cover and the food items would need to be processed in small amounts as blending should not exceed 30 continuous seconds at a time. |
Question: | Can a person with small arthritic hands easily work the blender |
Answer: | I do not have arthritis, and I love this blender. I personally found the size of the previous inversion blender i had to be easier (cuisinart). Also, I agree that it's very difficult to detach the head for cleaning. It's not a problem for me but it always take a few seconds and extra effort. Overall I like this hand blender more but I'd recommend the other for someone with arthritis for sure, especially because they are similar in functionality. |
Question: | What is the diameter of the blending shaft? I.e., how wide must a mug be to fit the blender into |
Answer: | My last one fits in traditional wide mouth mason jars... this one does not. Highly disappointed. It’s extra work and dishes to blend in a wider container and transfer it |

Every Breville product begins with a simple moment of brilliance. The Breville Smart Oven began with the simple fact that different foods require different methods of heating: some, like baked goods, need to be cooked evenly; others, like meats, need to be seared on top. Most toaster ovens fail to distribute heat in a consistent way throughout their interiors, let alone change heat distribution to suit the different foods being prepared. This is how the Breville Smart Oven stands apart: whatever the food, it adjusts its heat distribution for perfect results. The Smart Oven is equipped with Element IQ cooking technology, which adjusts the power of the five individual quartz heating elements to cook food more evenly and quickly. This sophisticated heating system distributes heat throughout the oven when and where it is needed, to guarantee more efficient cooking. Nine different menu options allow users to choose the best setting for the food they are cooking. In addition to dynamically distributing heat to different areas, the Smart Oven can adjust the wattage of its heating elements for even more cooking flexibility. Most ovens have elements with fixed wattage that can only switch between ON and OFF, but Element IQ functions much like a dimmer on a light switch, increasing or decreasing element power with a simple turn of the knob. For example, broiling requires high heat from above in order to melt and brown, so the Smart Oven activates 1500W of high heat from the top elements of the oven. On the other hand, toast needs to be cooked evenly on both sides without drying out the inside, so the Smart Oven uses high radiated heat from above and below (1800W distributed between four elements) to crisp the outside quickly. Baking utilizes another feature of the Smart Oven that contributes to even heating: convection heating. Convection cooking uses a fan to circulate hot air so all sides of the food cook at the same rate. This is particularly important for baked goods, such as cookies and cakes, which need to be cooked evenly all the way through. Each of these nine functions is preset with recommended settings, taking the guesswork out of cooking. However, each can be customized according to recipe, volume of food, or personal taste. Customized settings will remain in the memory of the oven until changed or until the oven is unplugged from the wall outlet, streamlining your cooking process. The Smart Oven is carefully constructed from the most durable materials. It is attractively housed in Reinforced stainless steel, a striking addition to any kitchen. The elements themselves are composed of quartz, rather than the metal elements found in other toaster ovens. Quartz responds more quickly to heat change, which results in more even heating throughout the oven. The roomy interior is coated with a non-stick material that can safely withstand high temperatures, making cleanup easier. A crumb/drip tray that is accessible from the front of the oven (rather than the back, like many other toaster ovens) also makes it easier to clean between cooking sessions. In addition, the oven includes a patented magnetic auto-eject rack: small magnets embedded on the sides of the oven door pull the wire rack halfway from the oven when the door is opened, making food easier to remove and preventing burns. At 18.5 x16.25 x11.25 inches, the Breville Smart Oven is not too small but not too large. It is larger than most toaster ovens, with space to comfortably fit six slices of toast, a 13-inch pizza, or a whole Chicken. However, as a countertop convection oven, it is more space-efficient than a conventional wall oven. A smaller oven means less time to heat up and less time to cook, perfect for preparing a meal in a hurry (or for cooks who like to create in the heat of the moment). This also translates into a cooler kitchen (particularly convenient in the hot summer months) and less energy consumed.

User questions & answers
Question: | Dimension |
Answer: | Dimensions are hard to figure out. What size pizza will it cook, a 12 inch or 13 inch? |
Question: | What kind of casserole dishes can you use in this |
Answer: | I use ceramic, metal, glass, porcelain- all successfully. Holds an 11x14 pan for brownies and casseroles. Full 10" Fluted pie pan, 2 loaf pans when I make bread or meatloaf. Comes with the broiling pan which works GREAT. DO BUY the cutting board that sits on top. Adds usable kitchen counter space, a good cutting board, and you WILL burn yourself on the top of this fantastic oven without it. This is the best small appliance purchase I have bought, and I am very pleased to own the Breville Sous Chef food processor, and the Breville Samrt Grill. All 3 of these are best in class. |
Question: | What are the inside demensions Very important that I know this . Breville BOV800XL Smart Oven |
Answer: | The oven is 13.5" across, 11.5" front to back and 7.25" high, but only 6" from the top of the rack in its lowest position to the top of the oven. The oven will fit a 9x13 cake pan and a 13" pizza (the back of the oven is rounded out to accomodate a round pan). I recently roasted a 6 pound turkey breast in the oven and I probably couldn't have done one much larger. |
Question: | PTFE or PFOA Free? This oven looks fantastic but I don't want stick-free; I want healthy. What's the best alternative |
Answer: | I just called Breville and it is NOT PTFE or PFOA free I have a bird so I cannot have cookware or electrics that contain PTFE/PFOA it's hard to get answers, but Breville, Cusinart and Calapholon ALL have their toaster & toaster convection combo ovens contain a non-stick coating with PTFE/PFOA. I'm calling Oster next, but they are closed now for the night.PS: to get an accurate answer on this type of "chemical" technical question, you really have to get to the corporate level not the 800 CS to get the ACTUAL info, many CS's said they were "free" but no one could show me on their websites where that was in writing. That's when each of the above co's got corporate involved, then either I was connected or they returned my call, then gave me the above info. |

Get into juicing with this no nonsense dual Speed juice fountain cold. Ideal for first time juicers, this juicer runs on 850 watts and has two Speeds, 13,000RPM or 6,500RPM, for hard and soft ingredients. Fruit is largely composed of water, but its selling point is its nutritional value. How do you extract the juice from fruit, without leaving the nutrients behind? Breville's Nutria Disc and patented juicing system extract more nutrients than other juicers and transfers less than 1.8F of heat to protect enzymes and maximize nutrient absorption of select nutrients. The uniquely designed juicing system features a feed chute that is centered over the shredding disc. This allows for more efficient juicing than systems that introduce ingredients on the side of the shredding disc. The dual Speed, 850 watt motor allows you to juice hard fruits and vegetables like apples and beets on high Speed at 13,000 RPM, while the low Speed (6,500rpm) is optimal for softer fruits and leafy Green vegetables like cantaloupe and spinach. The Juice Fountain Plus cutting disc is so powerful that pineapple can be juiced in large chunks with the rind on. In addition, this juicer features an extra wide 3 inch feeder chute that accommodates large chunks or entire pieces of fruit or vegetables, eliminating the need for chopping vegetables. The BJE430SIL is not only easy to use, but also easy to clean. It is pulp ejecting and comes with a large capacity pulp collector and most parts can be cleaned on the top shelf of the dishwasher.
- Cold Spin Technology allows juice to flow up and through the stainless steel cutting disc surrounded by an Italian Made mesh filter to ensure an insignificant temperature increase
- Extra Wide Whole Feed Chute measuring 3 inch to juice Whole fruits and vegetables
- Safety Locking Arm stops operation when cover is not locked correctly into place
- Jug capacity featuring a 70 ounce seal and store Juice Jug; Stainless steel micro mesh filter basket

User questions & answers
Question: | Brand new, red light for overload protection keeps flashing & will not go on low or high. Anyone else run into this problem |
Answer: | I just got the machine and only used it once, but if you check the manual under Troubleshooting, page 38, it states "the food processor shuts off during operation," it explains about motor overload and the LCD light flashing. Not sure if that's the problem, but was the only one I could find. Good luck! |
Question: | How long do the juices stay good if you make them ahead and refrigerate |
Answer: | If the juice is in (a) container(s) that reduce the amount of air surface, meaning if you have 8oz of juice, it is in an 8oz container, not a 10oz, and it has a properly sealed lid, the juices will stay good about 3 days. |
Question: | I juice mostly leafy greens, will this juicer work for that |
Answer: | This is a better choice for leafy greens... Omega NC800 HDS 5th Generation Nutrition Center Juicer, Silver. Product description Color:Silver Omega's Nutrition Centers are "masticating-style" juice extracts and more. A masticating juicer juices at low speeds of 80 RPM minimizing heat build-up and oxidation. The auger system forces produce into a tight chamber, grinding and pressing the food to squeeze out the juice from items as fine as wheatgrass and leafy vegetables. With a Nutrition Center you can also make all-natural nut butters, baby food, soy milk, almond milk and a variety of healthy snacks. Includes 6 nozzles and 2 Juicing screens. |
Question: | How does this juicer handle carrots |
Answer: | I have been juicing since 1973. The Breville is a superior quality machine. Only a Norwalk press is better. The price of this machine is a steal! To get carrot discoloration off, soak in bleach water periodically for 12-24 hours. 1/2 cup of bleach in enough water to submerge the parts completely ( 5 gallon bucket half full). Rinse thoroughly and scrub down with soft plastic scrubber or brush, assemble the machine and run it with jar and pulp bin on. Run cool water through it in smallish bursts. Then run until dry. Let air out for at least a few hours. I guarantee it is harmless. I’ve been using that technique for 45 years. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can a roasting temp probe be used?will the door then close? - I am also looking at the new Wolf toaster oven to compare the two;any info is welcomed |
Answer: | The BOV845BSS Smart Oven Pro and its predecessors which use the same Element IQ system that maintains a very accurate and specific temperature as indicated by the LCD once fully preheated. The only loss of temperature would occur from opening the door during the cooking process or not allowing the initial pre-heat to complete. Recommendations find a probe unnecessary, advice is simply to follow traditional roasting times and temperatures. Should it be necessary, keep in mind a reduction of temperature from opening the door and a requirement for needing some time to recalibrate to the indicated temperature selection. In terms of the door and probe, that would be within the realm of the operators judgment as too many variables exist on the market, though it is not something Breville has found necessary. |
Question: | Can you use aluminum foil in this oven |
Answer: | The BOV845BSS Smart Oven Pro is very similar to a traditional home oven and therefore can be approached with similar expectations. Due to the quartz heating elements (two top, two bottom, with a shield though still partially exposed) and the size of the cavity, caution should be exercised when using foil to prevent direct contact with the top heating elements especially. Careful and thoughtful alignment of the foil, tightly wrapped to avoid any contact with the heating elements is certainly required and recommended. |
Question: | How do the bake and roast functions differ - and how does the slow cook function differ from using bake or roast at a low temperature |
Answer: | The Element IQ technology featured on all Breville Smart Ovens' makes alterations to time and temperature to achieve a variety of results based on repeated results in our own test kitchens. Bake is a gentle approach towards target temperature, while roast is a more aggressive approach. The Slow Cook function enables a longer time and automated keep warm at a specified temperature for up to 10 hours. The Bake function has a much wider, less specific range of temperatures and is limited to two hours total cooking time without an automated Keep Warm activation. |
Question: | Why is this priced at $354? the msrp is |
Answer: | Got mine this past month (10/17) at Bed, B &B. $269, and then used their 20% off coupon and got $53. off that price for $216.+tax. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Just wanting to know what is the functional difference between the cone and basket settings. what is the machine doing differently with each setting |
Answer: | Lots of people online say they do crack dry soybeans with this mill. I tend to only use the fine setting but it looks like it could be set to very course. |
Question: | Is the base of this coffee maker 12.4 inches wide like the manufacturer states or is it 13.5 as Amazon says? I have a real tight location for this |
Answer: | Yes, the grain mill does fit and it works well on an older champion. I grind wheat and make my own bread with the champion. |
Question: | Dies this Breville coffee maker have an automatic shutoff and is it programmable so that I can prep it the night before and it brews the next morning |
Answer: | It did not work for me it was very difficult to take off and put on. I had the model listed you are asking about I emailed champion and I found out this one is for the newer model. I returned it. |
Question: | Hi, is water tank removable |
Answer: | That depends on the grain. Harder grains like wheat take a little longer. Millet or sorghum take less time. What I have found to be the best way to mill hard grains is to set the stones wide and just crack the grain first. Then I reset the stones to the setting I want my flour to be and run it through again. It takes about 1/2 the time to do it this way in my experience. If I set the stones narrow right off it can take up to 1/2 hour to mill 3-5# of grain. It's more work the way I've described, but if you're like me, time is money! :-) |

Answer: | The glass cooking surface is appx 11" x 11", for a diagonal of 15.25". Including the metal perimeter, the overall surface is appx 13" x 13", for a diagonal of 18". We often boil water in a 16 quart stock pot with 11" diameter. |
Question: | What weight can this hold |
Answer: | I can't give you a weight, it's a solid commercial unit, I use cast iron pans and don't think that and pan/pot the size of the heating element would be to heavy for the unit. |
Question: | is it a 120v |
Answer: | Yes it is, which limits the maximum power to 1800 Watts. |
Question: | Is it true that this burner is not good for simmering bone broth for 48 hours or more? If not, does anyone know which convection burner is? Thanks |
Answer: | You do NOT need to simmer to make bone broth - 180 F will work just fine. THere is nothing magic about "boiling" - it just happens to be the max temp water can achive at starndard pressure. I make broth all the time at |
