However when you have 2, it uses more power. But I will always have a backup. So now as far as you question....the little compartment can be used as a fridge while the bottom is a freezer....provided it is not at 20 degrees, it should be closer to 30 degrees. With one more thought....if it is opened a lot to move the air periodically. If it stays close for most if the day, it will freeze both areas. I keep mine at 24-27 degrees and my ice cream is still a little soft. The only other idea I have is to freeze the freezer to 20 degrees, make ice, put it in an ice chest and use that as your fridge. So the freezer can always be a freezer.

Answer:	Most vehicle alternators charge at a higher rate when first started to compensate for the initial drain when starting. I believe there is a technical term here. The voltage regulator usually reads the battery’s voltage and turns on the charging function to top off, if you will, the battery. If you do run the engine for 10 minutes, of course the alternator will recharge the battery. I would ensure the headlights were turned off as well. Just as an extra measure. If you were interested manning on running the refrigerator for an extended period of time like for several weeks while at an Rv Park, then I would either put the 110v AC line to the Rv or at least a battery maintainer/charger on the battery if in an automobile without AC. We his is a small enough device that if you are mindful of what you are doing you should be okay. Just don’t start off using a weak battery to begin with.
