Answer:	I haven't noticed shelf drain over a week time period. I went a month between uses and it had charge to blend a pot of soup. My unit at least is working as I expected it to.

Answer:	The blender boldly says "DESIGNED IN THE USA", but harder to find and read is "MADE IN FABRIQUE AU CHINA". (I recently bought mine, in red, at a local store.)
