One of the best features of a stand mixer is that you can add other ingredients while the mixing action is occuring. However, it can be a little tricky trying to get those eggs, or that sugar into the bowl, without getting in the way of a moving beater, or without ingredients sloshing outside the bowl. The answer to these difficulties is a pouring shield. The chute lets you add ingredients from a safe distance while the "collar" prevents splashes from wet ingredients and "puff" from dry ingredients. The dual-purpose pouring shield is an accessory that sits on the bowl and permits the easy addition of ingredients while the mixer is running, as well as helps to keep ingredients from splashing out of the bowl during mixing. Attaching Pouring Shield 1. Turn the Speed Control to the OFF position and unplug the mixer from the outlet. 2. Attach the bowl along with the flat beater, dough hook, or wire whip. 3. Answer:	To use outdoors: buy a can of spray "Outdoor" finish, and coat the metal thoroughly, let dry per manufacturer's directions, repeat. I would probably still pull it inside during heavy rains, sleet, and snow. You'll probably have/want to re-spray it every year or two. (I'm a designer, and I see this used outdoors, too (either way is great & timeless - will withstand the weather, as well as the changes in decor). I will prob put a round piece of glass on top to make a GREAT table! (FUN, right?)

Answer:	It certainly is safe at that distance. I hit my steel targets on these hangers from 10 yards with my 9mm handgun. The targets swing and they will fly off if they are hanging on a hook. I use a steel pole now to hang them. Works great.

In a freestanding situation you may need some additonal base weight if you have some light winds in your area, you can purchase extra weight bags for this purpose. Please be extra careful with the tilt function, the tilt function should NEVER be used if there is any wind whatsoever or even the chance of breeze or wind, as the umbrella is at its most vulnerbale to damage when it is tilted.
