3 best commercial refrigerator thermometer
Commercial hood systems, also known as commercial range hoods or exhaust hoods, are essential ventilation systems used in commercial kitchens and food service establishments. They are designed to remove heat, smoke, odors, grease, and airborne contaminants generated during cooking processes. Here's what you should know about commercial hood systems:
Function: The primary function of a commercial hood system is to capture, contain, and exhaust airborne pollutants generated by cooking equipment, such as ranges, grills, fryers, and ovens. This ensures a cleaner and safer kitchen environment.
Components: A typical commercial hood system consists of several key components:
- Hood: The hood itself is positioned over the cooking equipment and captures the pollutants.
- Ductwork: Ducts connect the hood to the exhaust fan, transporting the contaminated air to the outside.
- Exhaust Fan: The fan creates negative pressure, pulling air and contaminants through the system and expelling them outdoors.
- Filters: Grease filters within the system capture grease particles and prevent them from entering the ductwork and exhaust fan.
- Makeup Air System: Fresh air is often introduced into the kitchen to replace the exhausted air, maintaining proper airflow and preventing negative pressure.
Types of Commercial Hoods: There are different types of commercial hoods to suit various kitchen configurations:
- Type we Hoods: Used above cooking equipment that produces grease and smoke, such as fryers and grills.
- Type II Hoods: Designed for capturing non-grease-producing heat and odors from ovens, steamers, and dishwashers.
- Type I/I Hoods: Combination hoods that serve both grease-producing and non-grease-producing equipment in one system.
Sizing: Proper sizing of the commercial hood system is crucial for its effectiveness. It should be appropriately sized to match the cooking equipment's heat and pollutant output. Oversized or undersized hoods can result in inefficient ventilation.
Fire Suppression: Some commercial hood systems are equipped with fire suppression systems to provide automatic fire protection in the event of a kitchen fire.
Codes and Regulations: Commercial hood systems must comply with local building codes and fire safety regulations. Regular inspections and maintenance are often required to ensure compliance and safety.
Maintenance: Routine maintenance is essential to keep the hood system operating efficiently. This includes cleaning the hood, ducts, and filters to prevent grease buildup and blockages.
Noise Control: Noise can be an issue with commercial exhaust fans. Some systems are equipped with sound-dampening features to reduce noise levels in the kitchen.
Energy Efficiency: Energy-efficient commercial hood systems are available to help reduce operating costs. These systems may include variable speed controls and demand-based ventilation.
Installation: Professional installation is critical to ensure the hood system is properly installed and effectively removes contaminants from the cooking area.
Commercial hood systems play a vital role in maintaining a safe and healthy kitchen environment in restaurants, cafeterias, catering facilities, and other food service establishments. They help prevent air pollution, protect kitchen staff from exposure to harmful fumes, and reduce the risk of kitchen fires caused by grease buildup.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is there Mercury in this thermometer |
Answer: | No. It has a steel spring inside. |
Question: | I'm looking at the picture...why is 0c almost lined up with 30f, shouldn't it be 32f, which it has a perfect mark for |
Answer: | -10C is at 13F needs to go CW to 14F, 0C off by 1F needs CW to 32F, BUT 10C is almost spot on at 50F, 20C falls a bit short of 68F. Or if you're European or like metric system the Fahrenheit scale is the wrong one. Looks like art work is not so good and all people on this product team failed elementary grade science! |
Question: | The description says this thermometer is over 6" tall. That sounds rather large, can anyone confirm |
Answer: | The 6 inch measurement is for the display card it is attached to. This is typical for Amazon descriptions for items of this kind. As stated in other answers, the thermometer itself is 3.5 inches tall |
Question: | how accurate is the thermometer? I've used one of these types before in my breville and it gave the wrong temperature of the inside of the oven |
Answer: | The only way to make sure a thermometer is accurate is to calibrate it. This is done by boiling water and using the thermometer to test the water. If the thing reads 121 degrees, it is accurate. If not, then it needs to be calibrated...that is, the dial needs to be rotated in relation to the dial so it reads 212 degrees. From what I see, most dial type oven thermometers are no longer manufactered with a small nut on the back to allow calibration. Find an old one at a yeard sale and you might be able to. |
