Answer:	Not to my knowledge - just put it in to the water you want take the temperature of. You must be assuming Centigrade measures... in Fahrenheit 32 degrees is freezing; so unfrozen water, say with ice cubes added, measuring 40 degrees F. would make sense - about 8 degrees above freezing.

Answer:	If you dip it in the melted wax I don't know why not. (Of course, then you've got the job of cleaning the wax off.) Read it while it is in the wax, just as you would read it dipping it in any hot liquid.

Answer:	The box we have has five languages, first being German,then English and French and another two languages. I believe the tablets are manufactured in Germany, and they might have various packaging, like some might be specifically packaged for EU countries. Just a guess. No way I can say if you received fake tablets. However, some Amazon vendors do sell counterfeit items. Just recently we got filters for a Miele refrigerator which were obviously fake, not by Miele, and did not work in our machine. Complained, and got money refunded.

Answer:	A red bulb = alcohol. Mercury would be silver.

Answer:	I let the thermometer rest on the bottom of the pan. I was worried it might make the temperature incorrect, but it doesn't affect it. It must be made to work this way. I make fudge with it this way. It turns out correctly.

Answer:	The 0 & 32 are side by side. The 10 & 50 are also very close. The thermometer does not stay submerged. I had to put a rock in the little compartment on the front. Next year I'll get a different type.

Answer:	We have one that came with our pool. The temp read at least 10°-12° high. Two weeks after setup, the liquid-filled tube fell out and we had to search for it. Very hard to read since the scale is the same color as the background. I'm in this area of Amazon looking for a new thermometer.
