If you have it right side up in a cooler and it starts to melt, I think it will be fine, even if it gets turned upside down momentarily. I really turned it over and not a drop came out until it had been upside down for some time. I hope that helps. |

| Answer: | I give the tray a slight twist and it loosens the cubes easily for removal. They ice comes out easily by "grabbing" the sides, but when the sides are not sticking up, you can simply push on one side of the cube and it slides right out of the tray. Very nice. |

| Answer: | the cubes are not cubes at all but are shaped like a half moon crescent. This allows them to slide out of the tray with almost no effort. They are about 1/2 inch thick about 2 inches wide and 1 inch tall, (best guess as I don't have one on hand and is close to the metric units given in previous answer). This is an odd shape if you want cubes but makes a lot of sense in terms of freezing quickly and getting them out of the tray. This is hands down the best ice crescent (cube) tray I have ever used. These are particularly nice in an RV where you can fill the trays and hit the road with no worries of spills, and have ice ready for your end of day repast. |

| Answer: | I have had the two pack of these for 4 years. The silicone tops have picked up enough 'freezer' smell that they are now producing ice that smells horrible and is unusable - but that's going to be true of any silicone product used in this way - not a knock on Tovolo. Otherwise the molds are still in perfect condition. I found various articles that the smell can be baked out of the silicone tops, so I'm trying that now. If I can get them smell free awesome, if not, I'll buy two more without hesitation! |

| Answer: | I found the cause of that to be running the water over the mold to loosen it up to peel it off. I use the cold tap water now, which has helped stop that most of the time. I also now let the mold sit out on the counter for a bit, say 5 minutes or so, so the mold can warm up. This is fine if you have time to do it, but, it has prevented the ice ball from splitting or cracking. As for splitting inside the freezer, no ideas there. Hope this helps. |

| Answer: | Lotta less expensive alternatives that hold 8 to 10 ounces. Assuming you can let your soup cool before filling, any cheap plastic container should do so long as you leave room for expansion during the freezing process. |

| Answer: | If volume is your thing, probably not. Due to the fact that the spheres have roughly 20% less surface area (19.63" of surface), they should melt slower than the 2" cubes (24" of surface).I'll also say that these are super easy to use and you don't have to worry about them getting bumped in the freezer like a tray. The spheres also have a cool factor as they spin around in your drink. |
