Answer:	I don't know the answer to this but it is plenty big enough to crush lots of spices in which is what I use it for.
Question:	Is the bowl smooth inside or rough? I have seen both used to describe the inside finish
Answer:	Smooth, but not glazed or shiny like the outside surface... Definitely not rough in a grainy or gritty way, just not glazed. The bottom 1/3 or so of the stick part (sorry - I never remember which is the mortar and which is the pestle ðŸ¤") has the same unglazed finish.
Question:	Does this picture represent what the mortar looks like? These proportions
Answer:	It's pretty accurate. The mortar is about 2 inches in diameter. I use it to grind pills for a spouse with trouble swallowing.
Question:	If you use this for pill crushing, does a significant amount of medicine get stuck to the bowl after crushing? I have to take a precise dose
Answer:	Not really, you can brush it out with your fingertip. I use this for medication for a kitty, and have to crush three different medications together in the mortar, so far have had no problem with the powder sticking to the bowl, I just brush them out with my finger.
