Answer:	I don't believe the blade can be set t peel something that thick. You set the potato into the frame and the blade glides along and scrapes the peel off.

Answer:	It can take a 5" carrot but it doesn't peel well due to the skin texture. Also, the device can't hold the carrot in the right position because its narrow shape.

Question:	Can it be configured to slice and core but NOT peel
Answer:	As others have said, about 1/4". This works fine if you are baking a pie and don't leave it in too long. I usually leave mine in an hour to get the crust golden and I have ended up with more of an apple sauce pie. If you don't bake yours that long, it will probably come out more chunky. I like my pie with chunks of apple, so I peel the apples with the Johnny Peeler, then core and slice with my OXO corer/slicer that gives me nice thick slices that I can either slice again in half lengthwise, or cut the slice in half cross way to make large chunks and the larger slices/chunks leave the pie nice an chunky. If you don't care about having chunky pie, go ahead and slice them while peeling them. The pie tastes the same, I just like having apple chunks in my pie. The peeler is worth the price just for the time it saves me in peeling the apples, about 10-15 seconds to put the apple on the tines, peel it and pull the apple off. It is also much easier on my hands with my arthritic thumbs and if you have someone to core and slice while you peel, it cuts the time in half.

Answer:	I have not had any problems with rust. After I use it, I rinse it under the faucet and throw it in the drain rack. I had my first one for 15 years and have had this one for 9 months. I love it!

Question:	Will I be able to buy replacement blades
Answer:	The blade itself is 1/2" wide. The inner, cutting edge of the blade is 1/4".

Answer:	It does have some assembly required but the directions are simple and very easy to do. Besides, you have to put on the corer/slicer and the peeler blades because they need to be adjusted according to the size of your apples and the thickness of the peel. It takes some practice to get it all aligned just so. I found that inserting the stem side onto the holding prongs (so that the blossom end is peeled/cored first and moving toward the top) works best, and any bruised/soft spots on the apple will cause the peeler to skip. I just back it up a bit and gently press the peel arm into the spot so that is picks it up and can continue on.
Question:	The ad says it cores and slices. No instructions on how to core or slice
Answer:	No, it's max is 1 1/2". I attach it to the pull out cutting board. Even though the thickness isn't a problem, the depth of the counter overhang isn't deep enough on ours, which is something else to consider.

Answer:	Absolutely. When ours arrived, it was the next day that we made apple pie. The slices are a little thinner than you may cut by hand, but they are great. And easy!!!!!!! Over a lot of years, this is our third one and wouldn't be without one. Wonderfull apple slicer core.

Answer:	The slices are about 1/4 inch. You cannot adjust the thickness, but you can take the corer/slicer part off and core/slice them yourself. The slices are fine for pie and most things I use it for.
