Answer:	I spoke to OXO agent directly and this can opener is not dishwasher safe. None of their can openers are dishwasher safe. I purchased a PowerLix can opener from Amazon and it is dishwasher safe and I have had it in the dishwasher several times. Look at this can opener if you want to put it in the dishwasher.
Question:	Are the cogs made of hardened steel like old ones were made of so they would last and not strip out like Walmart junk
Answer:	I’m going to say no. If you had a pair of the old ones, these don’t compare. More like Walmart junk in my opinion. I don’t expect them to last long.

Answer:	It works very well, better than any we've ever had. Put it in place on the can > squeeze handle to lock on > turn handle to open can > push button to unlock & release. Just don't use on Sardine cans; I've ruined several openers on them.
